The control system is not likely to screw up my wrists (tho it may beef up my arms!). Can't be worse, really. You're on Slashdot so you must already have 3 times, at least, the carpal tunnel syndrome. And your arms are not important.
He's comparing completely different ways of releasing OPERATING SYSTEMS and WINDOWS MANAGERS.
Microsoft releases Vista FIVE years after XP
Mac OS X has a version released at certain intervals(1 year or 6 months? Whatever.)
Those 2 WINDOWS MANAGERS are release with small updates at certain intervals. Compare the original release of KDE 3 to the release right now: BIG difference. Speed, usability and lots of stuff have been improved over time, it's numbered the same but is NOT the same. Will Vista release small upgrades like that over time? No. They'll release security upgrades but that's about it.
GNOME 3.0 won't be on your desktop until at least 2009, which will mean that by then, GNOME will not have seen a major revision in 7 years. And where was this information taken? From his mind? GNOME is still upgrading, it's NOT DEAD, upgrades to the interface and such are still being released.
Not only is this article pure shit because of points people have raised before, it's pure shit because it views Linux WINDOWS MANAGERS releasing from a commercial OS point of view.
Oh, and if KDE is releasing a major upgrade within 5 years, why should it be wrong? Microsoft has done so with Vista. The difference is, KDE is still releasing small upgrades while XP hasn't changed one bit(except for Media Center).
I assume you haven't seen KOffice all that well, my friend or more specifically the results of their GUI contest. They decided they wanted a new interface and did what was needed. Wait 'till it comes out. OO.o is not(and will not) be the only competitor to Office.
There's a useful extension called(I think) "PDF Download" that when a.pdf link is opened, it asks whether or not you want it to open it or save it. Works very well.
Why does it have always have to be a "killer"? It's just a competitive product.
Each time something is labeled "killer", it usually doesn't even fare well in the market(maybe not in features). I think it's preposterous to label something "killer". I understand that it is the objective of it but it nevers happens, it competes, yes, but does it really ever kill something completely(please don't go naming examples, for Tux's sake!).
Why label it killer(again, even if it is the objective) if the product isn't even finalized?
I figure it's just to build the hype...
There's nothing much impressing in that lot...
Also, for someone who has used iPodLinux you can see the author did not try it AT ALL, he doesn't even denote most of the things you can do with it. Where it says you can play a movie I thought "Oh! iPodLinux!" and it didn't even talk about it...
iPodLinux could have taken lots of space in this list if the author had tried it...
Is there any use besides for looking hip? If I liked the band, I wouldn't be tempted at all to buy their new album, I prefer far more a CD since it lasts longer, USB flash drives can lose some data sometimes...
I heard so much about Beyong Good & Evil but haven't got around to play it yet. All the critics seem to a agree is it (amazingly?) good but it's in the bargain bin even though it's still pretty young.
I find it funny that in 125 comments, I didn't find more than 10 questions I would submit to John Smedley if I was Slashdot... I haven't played SWG yet but those comments just make me NOT want to play. The answers have just been Sony and SWG bashing... I wonder if Smedley is reading those comments... Would be pretty funny somewhat:)
So... a question maybe?
What do you plan to bring new and old players wanting to try again? A free trial? Will you ask websites to review it again also? If I'd want to try the game, I'd like an overview.
that doesn't show a guy typing stuff to ZOOM a damn face on a damn low-quality image.

I stand by this man as long as he isn't proven wrong.
Serious business.
This means I'll have to paint BY HAND!? ZOMG NO!
An article says that a new version of a product has better features than it's predecessor! AMAZING!

It isn't true? How come? I'm not sure I understand!!!!111
Correction: I would follow anything open-source, even if it's pink.
The only way for this to work would be to license under the GPL a guide on how to dress cool and program. I know I would follow anything open-source.
(Insert comparison to Duke Nukem Forever here)
Sorry, no. That would mean everyday it's not delayed.

and a lot of spare time
At least it pays off a LOT!

You don't need to be logged in to read the comments. And cry.
