I'd rather have a "DRAM hard drive". A PCIe card with a memory controller, some dimm slots, enough battery to keep it running for some week and a device driver making it look like a harddrive.
Maybe they already exists.
You code your way from moms basement to IPO. Minigames include/. where on the lower levels you just post but on the higher levels you race to beef up your webserver cluster to handle an upcomming slashdotting. The table tennis physics engine will be used in the basement minigame pocket ping-pong (the hot coffee of the game), and in the higher levels you must play squash & tennis with business partners and almost win to close business deals.
Exactly, Vendor Liabiliy is just a way forcing everyone to buy expensive software of limited functionality. I want to do my own decision of how many bugs per feature I can stand.
Oracle can easily start to sell products boosting "Verified high reliability", if they think consumers do want pay lots for well proven sollutions (read ancient).
Their problem is that they want to force customers into buying prehistoric software at premium prices. This PHB sees lots of money going onto the patching and feature adding business at Oracle, and desperately wants a way to kick the coders and sell the current product forever.
Their customers value varporware and bells and whistles higher than reliability when buying a enterprise database. To Oracle, laws against bells and whistles seams to be the right way to squish the competition.
Since this is slashdot, your job is probably alot more exciting than the commute. Therefore you must add hours away from friends, family and hobbies to the working hours in the equations.
An evening in a hotel is not the way I want to spend my unpayed time, neither is an hour commute. I currently live 3.3km from where I work.
No, this one isn't vaporware anymore.
Vista is just a concept, the prototyp you can get (labled beta) is not what you will get when it is released in some years.
I thought the nuisance was the (probably life thretening) headaces I got after drinking alot of alcohol while on warfarin. Even more so the preassure sock I have to wear for the rest of my life to avoid more DVT (got a damaged vein valve). Badly performed skydiving sucks
Yes there is an event log, no it isn't easy to find things in, are there any third party event viewers that has better search functionality than limited filters?

No a dupe is a rerun, this is a best of. (or maybe just a trick to bump the topic it back to the front page without particular reason)
Digg - Beta testing ./ stories since 2004
I suggest co-linux instead.
There are still heaps of amazing stuff released on the demo scene. And the scene is trojan and virus free.
Yeah, I love it, its my favourite OS, but the editor is quirky, couldnt they have put in a better one.
Just remember that the cheapo converters assume your mouse has builtin ps/2 AND usb interface, hence its just a connector converter.

I love my Fujitsu lifebook (B142), even if its obsolete.
