    Well, to be completely honest the last time I've used ICQ is almost two years ago, but I still remember my UIN better than my phone number.
    A while back I had a better Android client than IM+, though. Jasmin or Jasmine or something like that.

    Oh, I know, I am German and I develop in C++ for Linux and it sucks. Normal slash is actually even worse on a German keyboard - shift+7, so a backslash is pleasant in comparison.
    C, with its character salad syntax, is very specifically designed for the American keyboard layout, this is probably one of the reasons Pascal was so popular in Germany - it is simply less strain to type begin end; than {}

    Miniscule? In many countries renewables have overtaken nuclear.
    Besides, you've got it the wrong way around. The whole "base load" concept only exists because of coal (and late nuclear) power plants. Everything else is load following in the first place. Without coal and nuclear there is simply no need for base load.

    Your logic only works if every staff member is capable of doing the job of every other staff member, which is fine for picking strawberries, but not for mechanical engineering and manufacturing. It is not an absurdity, you need at least a certain amount of engineers and other specialists to design complicated systems and also enough workers to build parts and assemble the rockets. If it takes a month to build a rocket, then the same amount of personnel is required for manufacturing for 10 launches per year as for just one launch since the manufacturing would be serial, not parallel.
    Apparently you don't know the difference between low and high volume manufacturing and between skilled and unskilled jobs.

    The Soviet elite (and our own GDR elite) had about as much wealth as somebody from upper middle class in a first world country. They only were wealthy compared to normal people.

    Actually "computing today".

    c't used to be awesome back in the day - the most geeky computer technology magazine in Germany, with a lot of DIY projects. Also sometimes as thick as a mail order catalogue. Their website used to have the same "slashdotted" effect as the actual slashdot of the same time period. Unfortunately with the start of this century c't slowly changed the target group from geeks to more or less mainstream.
