I had the original monochrome GameBoy many years ago. I thought it had been lost or stolen because it disappeared. Turns out, it had been packed away in a box when my folks moved across country. Lost for nearly a decade, they shipped it to me out the blue. All the games still work, but the gameboy itself is broken.
True, but I'm enjoying some of the GBA advance releases. I never owned a SNES, so I recently picked up FF4 and FF6 to play on my DS. I've actually found that I like playing an RPG on the DS better than my tv. My wife doesn't get irritated because I'm occupying it for several hours straight and I can take it with me where ever I go.
I borrowed a friend's PS2 awhile back and played through God of War and Katamari on my old 27" mono TV. I put it down for awhile (several months). I picked it back up shortly after I had upgraded to a 43" Pioneer elite and was floored. The games went from looking pretty decent to absolute shit. The Cube still looks pretty decent, but the Wii is at least a head above it. It's nice to be able to pop in a cube game and have it play in 480P 16:9.
Disruption? Perhaps you can enlighten this poor ignorant American as to why Braveheart would be offensive. Perhaps it's a British cultural thing, but I don't understand your point.
Why not license the controller from Nintendo and port every decent game? No need to have the developers fiddle with the control scheme. I don't see this happening for the 360, but it's probably viable for the next system.
Jail in the early game is a pain in the ass. You lose precious money and the opportunity to purchase prime property. Jail in the mid to late game is a blessing since you're granted three free turns. I find the half/no rent idea interesting and I think I will try to implement that the next time I play. On another note, I've found eliminating 1s speeds up the game immensely. Round everything to the nearest 5 and anything less than 5 is 5. Less cash going around is a good thing.
Your steel industry? So the USA is responsible that all (US & British) steel production is being moved over the China? The US didn't make British companies decide to screw its employees to increase their profits by moving their factories over to a country with loose labor and environmental laws.
I agree. However, I've found that there is a different kind of satisfaction in hitting the mark with a real gun. I have no interest in hunting or killing, but I do enjoy the challenge. Virtual is mindless fun that takes effort to perfect. The real thing is far more challenging. Again, I fully agree that firearms needed to be handled in a safe manner, but that doesn't reduce the amount of enjoyment that I derive from their use.
I've been toying with this exact theory for years. My original idea though, was that they purposefully reduce the amount of sunlight around Christmas. This supposedly brings on 'seasonal depression'. Since giving and receiving makes people happy, they spend more.
Consoles. I came to the same conclusion a year or so ago and purchased a GameCube. It's sad, but it seems inevitable that the majority of single player games will migrate to the consoles. Since I get all of my FPS fixes with the PC, I've turned to the Cube and DS for my adventure gaming.
I would suggest that you take a look at the Wii since it can play the entire back catalog for the Cube or perhaps a PS2 if RPGs are more taste.
This is the reason that I purchased a Cube, a DS:Lite (that my wife has now stolen) and a Wii. Good single player PC games are getting much harder to find. It's quite disappointing since I have a large back catalog of PC games that no longer run or run poorly. While Dosbox and windows compatibility mode fix some of the issues, it's still frustrating.
The nervousness passes after you fire off a couple of rounds. I've gone target shooting with a friend who is an avid gun collector and I particularly enjoy the 38 magnum. We ended up holding his bachelor party at the range. Lots of fun.:)
I think your analogy is a little flawed in that the media does play a HUGE part in politics. I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of the population has never gone to listen to a political speech. Most of them get their opinions by listening to the sounds bites presented by the various media outlets.
I'm not sure if you're trolling or serious, but I'll take you at face value. It was a very good movie based off of a fantastic series that FOX killed prematurely. Watch the series, then the movie.
It goes back to the old arcade mentality. Make it insanely difficult and they'll keep pumping quarters in. Course, it sucks when the NES version gives you three lives and no realistic way to beat the game.
I was looking forward to STALKER, but I really haven't been impressed. The game is so buggy that I stopped playing it. I do agree about the short range problem though. I've found a shotgun to be far more effective.
I play a LOT of paintball and I can tell you that this is a very human problem. I can't tell you the number of times that I've skipped a shot off the top of an enemies head.
I never really got the GTA allure. I actually purchase Vice City, but never got hooked. KotOR on the other hand is thoroughly engrossing. I still haven't managed to successfully play through on evil though..
I just sent mine back on Monday due to white and black pixels firing randomly. I didn't even bother reading up on it. I just called Nintendo and they sent me a UPS label. Free shipping both ways. They said it should take about two weeks from start to finish. It might be worth your time to give them a call.
I think the Wii is actually spurring an interest in Cube games. I know two people that never purchased a Cube, but have started buying all the bargain hits now that they have Wiis.
"OH god I love this, don't you love the whiney Wii/360 people" I'm betting that this line is why you were modded down. People don't enjoy being ridiculed.
If you're looking for really great 2D platformers, you should look into picking up a DS. New Super Mario Bros is lot of fun.

I'd put Dune into the fantasy category, rather than SciFi.

You probably would have loved Rygar for the NES then.
Ick. I spent WAY too much time getting through the spikes the first time. That game was just plain sadistic.

Not to mention reduced number of men = greater breeding probability.
;p
Not that it applies to most Slashdotters.
