"Video game movies generally suck."
I couldn't agree more. I caught the last 30 minutes of DOOM on one of the movie channels a week or two ago. Going in and out of first person perspective was disorienting and pointless. I really hope they just stop making video game movies.
"But to play a PS3 is to lust after a PS3."
Three points.
1. My PC has been doing 'HD' for years.
2. My desire simply does not justify the cost.
3. Seven of the nine games listed are ports or sequels.
I certainly can afford the PS3, but I simply don't believe that I would get $600 of fun out of the machine.
I have a very nice 1080i plasma and a 7.1 audio sytem. Care to venture a guess as to what console I have on pre-order? Wii will be happy to give you an answer. To be honest, I love my discoveryHD and my upconverting DVD player. I watch movies/tv and a huge part of that is the visuals, but I rarely even notice a games graphics. I suppose the other half of my reasoning is that I'm tired of re-purchasing media. Why is it so difficult for them to understand that I want to be able to download media and keep it is a compact digital format?
You'll have to forgive my rambling and terrible spelling as I was called in at 2am this morning.
I opted for the mall since there was an EB and a Gamestop (and it's indoors). Despite getting there at 9:15, there were lines of over 30 people for each. While I was walking up to the first shop, the manager came out and announced that they would only have 14 units. I hopped back in car and decided to stop by a Gamestop that is on the way back to my house. There was ten people in line already. A few minutes later, the manager came out with donuts and told everyone that they would have 14 units. Very organized over all. They were pressing hard on the pre-ordering of accessories, but that was to be expected. The only confusion was from parents waiting in line. The gentleman behind me knew that his son wanted a Wii, but he had no idea on what it was or what to purchase with it.
Have you rented from Blockbuster lately? I did about a year or so ago. I believe it was in the $7 dollar range. Sorry, but I can bargain bin for that price.
Besides bundled with new systems, who would actually buy Vista? I expect that we will see a slow adoption rate since most users are perfectly content with XP.
Since I don't follow the PS3 or 360 news, I didn't realize how much their controllers cost. I was fairly irritated with Nintendo when the announced the $60 nun-chuck/wiimote, but that's nothing compared to the competition.
I have to call bull here. There are a fairly decent number of people who are fanatical about HD. Take a look around www.avsforum.com if you doubt me. I took the plunge a couple months ago and purchased a Pioneer 930 Elite and despite being blow away by the awesomeness that is HD; I have no interest in the 360 or the PS3. I bought my system for TV and movies. In my opinion, it is the games themselves that are not ready for HD. They need to focus on gameplay, story, physics and AI before they even consider HD.
I'm actually considering removing the back panel behind my reciever because it puts off so much heat. The thought of adding another high heat component makes me cringe.
The main problem is going to be the frequency of release. I'm really not interested in purchasing a 3-6 hour game every year or more. If they want to make this an effective strategy, they need to stick to a 6-8 month time frame.
Wow.. I really have to give you guys credit then. To be honest, that kind of customer orientation makes me want to purchase even without a demo. I will definitely check it out tonight.
I wish steam would allow you to demo games before purchase. I would assume that since it's supplied by steam, it would be pretty easy manage. It's actually been getting harder to find demos for the last couple of years.
I would assume that everyone who was interested in Oblivion would have already purchased it. I'm not sure how this will be a big selling point for the PS3 when it will be $10-20 more (depending on price drop) than the PC or 360.

Bigot or not, people are still entitled to a point of view. If you are intolerant of intolerance, are you any better than them?
A friendly gamer would destroy his crusade. Perhaps that's why he's raising hell on this one.
You can always use a service like Netflix which carries DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-Ray.
The media does fact checking? Newpapers might, but these 24 hour news shows always seem to get it wrong.
Some $ony fanboy must be having a bad day. Sorry that he took it out on you.
I thought I purchased a license, not a product.

Ravenholm scared the crap out of me, but it is still my favorite part of the game. I still get shivers when I hear the howling and scratching...
They tax me for social security and I'm not going to see a damn penny of that.

IIRC, it was Microsoft who settled, not $ony. I'm fairly sure that the $ony case is still pending.

Here in IL, ComEd will be raising our rates by as much as %50 come January 1st.

I wish I could mod you up for this one. :)
Boobies are your reason for emmigrating? I guess you missed that little room at the back of most video rental stores.. (just kidding btw :)
