Agreed. My wife saw the commercial and actually asked me to change the channel next time it came on. Somehow, I doubt they are drawing in anyone outside of the hardcore demographic.
Using a major credit card is a good idea when preording. If the company will not provide a refund for a product that they can not supply, file a report and the CC company will take care of it for you.
A better method would have everyone sign up at any given point and a lottery would decide as soon as official numbers were released. It discourages camping, hysteria and it would give everyone an equal shot.
Except those that do not want a 360. I do agree though that a lottery system would prevent most of the problems that we're seeing. It probably goes without saying, but I think you would need to state up front that you must be present to win the lottery. It only takes one idiot to register at 50 stores, and then complain that they didn't get a chance to collect their winnings.
People that assume one party is 'better' than the other are deluding themselves. Both are corrupt and power hungry. Also, I don't believe for a second that both parties wouldn't try to drive people apart to drum up votes.
I did vote, but I'm not really sure why I bother. As an Illinois resident, you can vote either way and you'll end up with a corrupt money grubbing official. Before someone decides that I'm flaming, keep in mind that both the Democrats and Republicans (in Illinois) are guilty as sin. I was mildly optimistic about Barak Obama, but his shady land deal has taken his shine off. Is it even possible for an independent to find a good canidate in Illinois?
I understand the reasons, but I do wish that we could donate used games/systems. All the same, it's a very worthy cause and plan to donate again this year.
When will people learn that facts are not good for a Fanboy's diet? Rumors, wild theories and outright lies are the best way to go if you want to keep the rabid and kicking.
"*always* skippable for those who have ADD"
It's not about ADD. For me, it's the games that go save point, three minute cut scene, pit of death/uber boss. Don't make me watch the friggin cut scene over and over!
"Their battery problems were not all that widespread, and they issued a complete recall."
Widespread or not, there was enough instances to force Sony to do a complete recall. How many ten of millions did that cost them? Despite what you think, that is significant.
Except, I have a 43" Pioneer Elite and I'm not drooling. My system is a home theater, not an arcade. I do still play a few games on it, but I purchased it specifically to replace the movie going experience.
Very true. I'm looking forward to hooking it up to my 1080i plasma. I really don't care about the HD portion, but I do wish they would switch to true Dolby.:(
"Everyone owes and everyone pays." (Gangs of New York) It's seen as their right to take your money (tax you) since they provide services. The truth is, you could go your entire life without using a single one and it doesn't matter because they're going to get their cut.
IDNRTF (I did not read the article). Are they discussing taxing in general or income tax? In order to tax income, you had to have gained something of monetary value. Like stocks, vitual assets have no value until you cash them in, so you should not be taxed until you sell them.
What sort of cheap DVD player do you have? I have $25 player from Jewel (grocery store) that I picked up on a whim and it works fine. I'm betting that your post is FUD or you got a lemon.
Nintendo is the only one that goes by sales figures. $ony and Micro$oft go buy units shipped. Probably not a huge difference but it is worth taking note of.
I'm tired of the Will Wright hype. I bought into the B&W hype and preordered the game. I was moderately interested in B&W2, but was leery from getting burned by the original. I think I'll just skip it this time around since nothing could live up to the amount of hype that Spore is generating.

You must not live in Illinois. As every Chicago resident knows; we have two seasons, winter and construction.
People buy the same thing every year. Why not twice a year?

I thought episodic content was supposed to cure the delay woes and reduce cost. 0/2.

It's sad commentary when you have to note that a media piece is presented without bias.
BD-R. He's looking for a burner.

Homeworld uses X, Y and Z for placement.

You are correct, my mistake.
