The problem is, my lesiure time is shrinking every year and the game prices are going up. It got to the point last year where I stopped purchasing RPGs because I knew that I couldn't devote the time. I actually purchased a DS lite last month for my wife, but it has become my primary source of games.
Have they ever lost money on hardware? I still can't believe the wiimote/nunchuck will cost $60 though..

Until today, I was planning on picking up a Wii at launch. I will have a much harder time justifying $250 to the wife since I will have to pick up another wiimote for her ($60) and I really would have liked Zelda:TP ($50). $360 simply is not reasonable. If the bundle included a second wiimote (sans nunchuck), I would probably pick it up. As it stands, I will mostly likely be forced to wait for the first price drop.
Not exactly. Most people assume the launch will not take place for another month or two. If that is true, Nintendo is most likely using JITD (just in time delivery) to reduce inventory cost.
It will be interesting to see the difference between a Nintendo game and an Ubisoft game. I expect that it will shed a bit of light on how well the 3rd party studios handle a new style of development.
We block access for anyone who does not need it or anyone who has violated company standards. We also use nanny software to block inappropriate material. On the whole, this works fairly well. It really is a question of productivity and responsible usage.
I bought B&W and played Fable for a bit. All I can say is that I'm simply not interested anymore. I learned my lesson when I shelled out hard earned money for a poorly implemented concept. He's fairly innovative, but he seems incapable of delivering.
How did this get marked insightful? If anything, we should be looking at the success of the DS and realizing that the future of gaming is moving in a new direction. Hardcore gamers will always have a place, but I believe the big sellers will be geared more towards casual gamers. It may be true that they might only pick up a game or three, but they far out number us.
I will grant you that it was a dismissive title. However, it is fitting with my stated opinion regarding most Sony products. BTW, I wanted to say that I appreciate the cohesiveness of your posts. It's rare that I see an AC that writes so well. Myself included actually.. Cheers.
Not to argue with the wisdom on an AC, but Slashdot is a discussion site. The purpose is to discuss different opinions and inform those that lack information. In case you missed my point, it doesn't matter how low the PSP drops. I, and many others, will not be purchasing it.
I have abandoned all interest in the PSP and the PS3. Instead, I'll be purchasing a Wii for myself and a DS Lite for my wife. The funny thing is, I actually own a very nice Pioneer plasma and I still couldn't care less about the 360 or the PS3.
My wife is extremely excited at the prospect of playing old NES games on the Wii. I've actually showed her SMB and a few others in rom form, but she's simply not interested. For her, it's all about the experience of sitting in front of the TV with a classic controller.
I'll be purchasing a DS:Lite for my wife this Christmas. Partially because it has several games that I'd like to play, but mostly because she keeps bugging me about buying one. Ever since she saw a friend playing Brain Age and Mario Kart, she keeps requesting one. To put this in perspective, she doesn't game. Period. According to her, the console controllers are to complex and she absolutely HATES games like 'The Sims'. She sees games that are traditionally geared toward casual gamers as pointless. I've listed off what her main points of reasoning are.

How is the game crap since your system can not run it? I played through with a relatively low end system and completed the game without any issues.

Between a faq and spending an hour or two, you should be able to be competent in just about any game. I'd put this on the same level as a pet rock(tm).

Has anyone actually seen this Playstation Network yet? Last I had heard they promised services equal to XBox Live, but had not produced any examples.
Bonk was on more than the Turbo Graphix 16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonk_(video_game)

The average consumer will buy them at CC or BB when they purchase the PS3. As I was there yesterday, the cheapest you will find it $60.
I believe the lack of rumble was related to battery drain.

Seems like there wasn't a single item that you really enjoyed about PAX. Why did you go again?
I was disappointed when I purchased EP2 through Steam for two simple reasons.
1. I saw it for $12 a week later at BB.
2. It was really short. Really, really short.
On the plus side, I did enjoy what little there was. Still not worth $20 though.
So the DS at $130 does not have online play?

How did I not know about this?? Thank you!

Dungeon Keeper was a great game, but it was hampered by a mediocre interface. Updating the control setup (Wii!) would go a long way.
