We're rolling out new servers running quad dual core AMD 64bit CPU's with Redhat AS4 64bit version. They are screamers and I haven't had any problems with them in general, or running 32bit apps. The key to smooth running on the 32bit apps is to make sure you have all the 32bit versions of the shared libraries installed.

    Ok, just kidding...

100% censorship free is not only impossible, its not acceptable. I'm not saying we should be censoring things we don't agree with, but its inevitable that things considered offensive will eventually be censored by the community in one form or another. Remember, just because you have free speech doesn't mean you get to stick it in my face.

A good stripper can earn a hell of a lot of money. If they save it and put it in a high yield savings account or other decent investment, they can live off the rest for a long time without having to worry too much about it.

I used to be friends with an ex stripper. she used to make anywhere from $100k to $300k a year. That's a million to 3 million earned in a decade. You can save and invest that and do pretty well for yourself.

  13. What happened to school suspension? on School Official Sues Over MySpace Page · · Score: 1

When I was in high school, some kid spray painted " is a fascist!" on various buildings around the campus.

The kid did not get sued. He got suspended and was made to clean up ALL of the graffiti on the school property. Why is it that this person has to sue? Why not just discipline the kid? Is a lawsuit necessary? It seems like it just draws attention to the act and is punishing the parents instead of the children.

You are right about not automatically giving the default user admin rights, but I think it needs to be integrated on a tiered access level like MacOS X has done. For a home user, you shouldn't have to log in and out as different users just to install something. MacOS X will prompt you for your password when you are about to install something that needs admin rights. It lets you continue on with what you WANT to do without too much hassle.

IANAL but I think you've oversimplified the GPL. If you've written an app that links to GPL libraries, I don't believe it falls under the GPL requirements to release the source. If that were the case, you'd never see apps on Linux like Oracle or whatnot.
