This was a while ago, but I couldn't use Swiftkey because it left trailing spaces after writing, and that irked my OCD. I'm not sure if they ever fixed that.
Thunderbird is the most lightweight email client that I can see.
I moved from TB to mutt/neomutt a couple of years ago and never looked back. It took a little while to set up, but the migration was definitely worth it. TB is extremely bloated in comparison.
This actually has everything to do with this article! One hypothesis is that toxo-infected humans have increased risk-taking behaviour. There's an association with toxoplasmosis and accidents/suicides, for example. This risk-taking would supposedly make humans more susceptible to being predated on by big cats, thus again allowing toxo to continue its life cycle. Presumably if the parasite can mess with your brain, it's also capable of doing other things that might make you more likely to be eaten by Smilodon.
Yes, I can also recommend Squeezebox aka Logitech Media Server. I also have a few Raspberry Pis running it. The other advantage over Sonos (apart from being cheaper and libre) is that you supply your own sound system, so you are not tied into their hardware, and you can use a cheap but quality old amp.
That article itself linked to a follow up from the same author, who doesn't recommend doing this hack for several reasons. He also says that updates for embedded XP was scheduled to end in April 2016.
I would rather see patients come into the hospital because of a false positive rather than sit around with nothing and "hope" nothing's wrong.
If they can't quantify the false positive rate, then it's potentially useless. It's like saying having blood is an indicator of stroke risk. 100% of strokes are caused by having blood. However, if you don't report the false positive rate, it's meaningless. Just because you have blood (or an abnormal heart rhythm) doesn't mean you have an increased chance of strokes.
> About a quarter of strokes are caused by an abnormal heart rhythm
But what about the opposite? How frequently does an abnormal heart rhythm result in a stroke? TFA doesn't mention it.
If this is a low proportion, then there will be many false positives, making detection of abnormal heart rhythm useless in terms of stroke prediction. It will only serve in increase anxiety of users.
Uhhh my juddery Firefox meant that I accidentally modded this as Troll, rather than Informative. There appears to be no way to revert this unless I post a reply, which reverts my moderation. So here is that reply.
To be fair, you can save "presets" in GIMP, allowing you to use the same (e.g. level) settings as a template. However, I'm not sure if you can save multiple levels of presets in Photoshop... you can't in GIMP anyway.
What real world work can be done in Photoshop but not GIMP? I'm not trolling, this is a serious question... often obscure seldom-used features get compared... out there in the world of practical productive work, what are the true shortcomings?
For me, the major shortcoming is adjustment layers. In Photoshop, you can apply a non-destructive layer/filter over your image to modify parameters such as brightness, contrast, colour levels, etc. You can then directly edit your image "below" this filter, e.g. cropping it. You can then modify the adjustment layer later.
In GIMP, once you modify brightness or contrast, that's it. You can't come back and remove/change these setting later. This has been a requested feature for at least 14 years.
Mitosomes and the hydrogenosomes of Trichomonas vaginalis are degenerate mitochondria. They address this in TFA. This paper reports the new discovery of eukaryotes with no trace of mitochondria at all. From the paper:
Mitosomes in Giardia, Entamoeba, and Microsporidia represent the most extreme cases of mitochondrial reduction known to date, and yet they still contain recognizable mitochondrial protein translocases and usually an ISC system. The specific absence of all these mitochondrial proteins in the genome of Monocercomonoides sp. indicates that this eukaryote has dispensed with the mitochondrial compartment completely.
I've been desperately wanting Jitsi to be excellent. I've tried to convince my Apple-loving family to move to it, since I'm running Linux. However, it's totally buggy for me. Constant visual and audio interference and noise, before the descent into full-blown ear-piercing feedback, that just doesn't stop. It's been like this for a few years now. I occasionally convince them to try again when an update is pushed, but it's yet to be resolved. Unfortunately, Skype is still the best option for us.
In a global/historical context, Obama is firmly "right", with no centre to him. However, you are correct that by Australian standards, he appears somewhat central.
I chose my computer primarily based on gaming specs, about 3–4 years ago. I planned on using Linux most of the time, and dual booting into Windows for the games. However, since 2–3 years ago, I never boot into Windows anymore. There are just too many good games on Linux!
BTW, you call chemistry "basic"? Why is chemistry of any practical use to anyone but anyone but a chemist? I can't recall a single instance in my life when I had to apply any sort of chemistry-based knowledge.
Among other things, knowledge of chemistry allows you to reject homeopathy and accept vaccinations.
Right, the biggest risk to you to keep filming is that you spend a few nights in jail, hurt your career, hire a lawyer, spend a few days over the next who knows how many months or years in court, etc.

> will land a permanent staff position at a university
I have no doubt it's dire, but it's a bit of misleading statistic. Most academic positions are relatively short-term contracts, often 2-3 years.

I wish I had mod points! Thank you for that information. I'm in the market for a new phone, and now I know to avoid OnePlus like the plague!

I find Esc too difficult to type frequently as a vim user. I remapped jk to Esc a while ago now. http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/Avoi...
So would I, apparently.

Where's the control? How many fake and inaccurate stories are published by other media?

From TFS: "Omni-directional wheels are nothing new, though they are typically only used in wheelchairs, robotics and other small-scale applications."

* Wheel
I'd replace that with the second wheel.
You'd still have to log in before using a TTY. However, I think many Linux DEs use Alt+F2 for "run".

The part you are missing is that the left in the US is often further to the right than the right in most other countries
Absolutely! This site has a good overview of political leanings, showing the current trend towards the right/authoritarian.

Obviously, you are white.
