... because they coincidentally correspond to two of Britney Spears's songs encoded as mp3 files at 128kb and the RIAA won't allow such copyright infringement! Double ouch!
You should calm down. Although I do share your sentiments, this is only a website. If the worst of your day is to rant about moderators on Slashdot then you must have a pretty cush life.
As an outgrowth of Xen, I think it's a hypervisor running on the hardware beneath the OS. I suspect that on architectures that don't support virtualization (eg Intel/AMD processors prior to Vanderpool/Pacifica which have a "ring -1" as the most privileged level rather than "ring 0"), the OS would need to be modified. I don't know if Xen in its native form supports whatever virtualization technology is present in the SPARC architecture.
Remember those weird Lexus and Infiniti commercials way back then when Toyota and Nissan were just bringing that brand out to the USA? The commercials where they just showed an ocean view at sunset for 30 seconds and briefly mentioned Lexus/Infiniti at the end? Almost two decades later, people are still buying Lexus and Infiniti cars.
As someone who loves bleeding edge technology, I'm frustrated by the lack of options in the US and find the whole international marketing strategy wonderfully interesting
It's been like that for the past few decades. I think the issue is that people in the USA tend to keep their gadgets for longer periods of time whereas more people in Asia tend to replace their gadgets faster. With few exceptions, the latest and greatest tends not to sell well here.
But Jack believes in you. We should all be grateful for his holiness, Jack. I pray to Jack every night and sometimes wonder if He hears my prayers? Well, Jack works in mysterious ways...
Kind of like gathering lobster and crab in the Atlantic Ocean I suppose. Those fishermen have the highest job-related death rates of anyone. And we continue to buy such dangerous-to-obtain seafood.
You're not really comparing the right cars. The.36 for the civic is for a 2001 model, non-hybrid. The last redesign of the Prius was around 2004 and the last redesign of the Civic was around 2006. Looking closer, 2004 Prius has a drag coefficient of.26 whereas the more normal looking 2006 Civic Hybrid has a drag coefficient of.27. Now if only Honda would just make the same body-tweaks for the non-hybrid Civics...
Godson-3, a chip with four cores--processing units that work in parallel--will appear in 2009, according to Xu, and an eight-core version is also under development. Both versions will be built using 65-nanometer lithography processes, which are a generation older than Intel's current 45-nanometer processes.
But engineers have added 200 additional instructions to Godson-3 to simulate an x86 chip, which allows Godson-3 to run more software, including the Windows operating system. And because the chip architecture is only simulated, there is no need to obtain a license from Intel.
I actually like Vista on my OS. But what I don't like is that it comes bundled with a TCP/IP stack. Since I have my own, I'd prefer that they give me a partial refund for that part.
You're also assuming too much. Credit doesn't always equal interest. eg, pay your credit card balance within the grace period and there's no interest. Also I bought my new car with a 0% interest loan.
I have to agree with the grandparent post. Sure, Ray Bradbury is important in the sci-fi world. But is he anymore important than say Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison? We don't mention their birthdays here. Other people of importance for whom birthdays we don't mention on Slashdot either: Stephen Hawking, Kip Thorne, William Gibson, and the all important etc.
So, yes, it is a slow news day.
What's interesting is that it actually takes a DNA test to determine this. For the most part, people can't taste the difference between these fish. So, in these high-end restaurants, you're really just buying into an illusion. I wonder if foodies and other food connoisseurs would be able to tell the difference.
The "yet" part bugs me. They should stop lying and people should stop trying to pro actively shut up people about their amazing insist on being old Microsoft.
The "yet" part implies that their actually working on a Mac version, but that they got the Windows version out first. Doesn't it make sense to support your own platform first before supporting others?
So it doesn't run on Mac? I don't give a shit and look elsewhere for my apps. They probably can't code for OS X anyway. Yes, I think that way.
Then I suppose that Microsoft Office for Mac retail box at the Apple store is just an illusion, right?
That's the problem with language. Once Apple sells the phone, it is no longer Apple's phone - it is the customer's.

Or perhaps there was no demand.

Except they'll be saying "zai-jian" since presumably the Chinese would be statistically more likely to speak Mandarin rather than Japanese...
Microsoft, pharmaceuticals, oil companies, etc.
My current phone is a Sony Ericsson W580i. I can just upload those micro Java apps onto my phone via Bluetooth and they work.

I take it you also don't own a house, own a car, etc.
Kind of like how Apple denied that they'd use x86 until they actually switched?
Well, we're all a witness to history...
Actually exotic cars hold their value very well.

Damn, meant to put "they're" instead of "their"...
