    Notice the some industries part. Supermarkets make sense because you don't have to worry about a crazy amount of infrastructure (unlike gas lines, water lines, power lines, and telephone lines). Basically companies related to infrastructure seem to be ideally run by a regulated monopoly (or oligopoly), a co-op, or a government.

    You obviously don't know the America that I do. Most of America is small towns of blue coller workers and farmers. I am originally from a town of less then a thousand with a fabrication plant and surrounded by farms. There are maybe 20 people who don't work with steel or on the farm, neither of which is a 9-5 job (the factory runs 3 shifts, is open from 4am to 2am, and everyone I know that works there has to put in 80 hour weeks for at least 2 months of every year).

    There is a busing company near me that definitely reduces the amount of buses during peak hours, the problem is by reducing it just means they idle in a parking lot. Just because the buses aren't doing rounds does not mean they are not running.

    My problem with this is just as people can hold a belief in God with no good reason a person can hold a belief of there being no god for no good reason. That article should be "There is no such thing as a logical Atheist" or something along those lines. In today's world there are fundamentalists on all sides, including those who have made atheism a religion and preach it with all the zeal for a fundamentalist conservative christian.

    Not talking about remotes, talking about Windows Media Player, in the bottom left corner there is a "change skin mode" button that I have hit too many times to complete amazement of WMP doing something I wouldn't want it to do at the hit of a badly placed button.

    What happens if you have a phantom limb where a bionic arm gets put in place? Will you feel pain in the artificial arm?

    That makes me wonder, on a serious note, what kind of heat this will produce? Might there be a rick of burning your skin it is attached to if you move too much? Will this cause excess sweating of the forearm? Or the armpit of whatever arm it is attached to? Will others get freaked the hell out when your hand feels really freaking weird when they shake it?

    P.S. If anyone has a link to that SNL commercial, or a transcript, that would be great as I assume many mods here will have no idea what I am referring to.

    But the Karma Whore comment was in response to the Wikipedia link, not the Google one. I don't think it should be regarded as Karma Whoring since not everything is on Wikipedia, and there are many stubs and other articles that are not useful on Wikipedia.

    Judging by the summary (I'm not so new here that I actually RTFA) I would say it doesn't, or does it very porrly. This seems like it will be used between Iraqis and Americans on the same side, who know the translations won't be that great, and to get a rough check on local translators. This does not seem like it will be used for small talk, talking with hostiles, negotiations, or anything like that.

    I think the mod parent topics are somewhat needed here though, since many of those with mod points are browsing at settings where they may only see the subject headings, and then can investigate to see if they should mod it up to level that would be viewable.

    I think you need to read the parent again. So what war was happening in pre-revolutionary France that made it not criminal homocide? What war was happening in Tombstone? In early New York? In pre-Revoltutionary Boston? And don't say it is the war on drugs happening in South Central Los Angelos.

    I think you missed his point. I don't think he was saying slavery was acceptable, but instead saying it was deemed ethical. We are talking about ethics, not absolute right and wrong.

    I don't care if 90% of people agree to it, those 90% are wrong.
    I have a problem with this, because it was what crazy people say (I don't care if 90% of the population says I'm insane, I am sane). You yourself said you have to draw a line, that line should be in line with the 90%. Or are you the one supporting tryanny, saying that 10% should enforce their will on everyone?
