  17. Smoke and Mirrors on NASA Moon Launch May Be Delayed After 2020 · · Score: 2, Interesting

The whole Bush administration Moon and Mars programs were just smoke and mirrors to shift funding away from the Space Station and other NASA programs, then cacel or push back the Moon and Mars missions. NASA put too many eggs in once basket with the poorly concieved Space Shuttle program and we are now paying the price with no good booster to get humans into Low Earth Orbit. I only hope the Obama administration has the imagination to keep the Space program growing in ways that are productive and that help spur the economy. What is the U.S. going to get more out of in the long run? An active space program or planting trees along a highway?

  18. Begging the question on Texas Vote May Challenge Teaching of Evolution · · Score: 1

Most arguments for Creationism hinge on the premise that complexity implies a divine creator. The conclusion of the argument, that a divine creator "made" everything is contained in the premise. They are just begging the question.

Maybe instead of requiring schools to teach the supposed faults in evolution theory, they should teach the big fault in religion; that something exists (God) but you can't hear, see, smell or touch it. Religion has far more faults in it then Evolutionary Theory.

The structure of a government body or an electoral process is a technology.

If the Electoral College process is a technology, then maybe someone should patent it, and refuse to license it to the U.S. Government. We would have to then elect our presidents directly, avoiding another 2000-like fiasco. Of course all the TV commentators with their red and blue maps would be out of a job.
