Green technology can be profitable, but it needs to be made practical. If I have a budget and see if I buy this expensive solar setup I'll get a return about five years or more from now then that just isn't an attractive option to most people. They want savings now, not later.
I see news all the time about breakthroughs in making solar energy cheaper and more efficient but I've yet to actually see prices on solar drop when I'm looking to buy equipment for a remote setup.
I don't agree with the government taking more money from people to prop up a business who's business plan obviously didn't measure up or they wouldn't need the help to begin with.
If you want people to be green then make it economically practical for them to be so. If people don't have the extra income to go green is it fair to beat them with a stick saying they have too and taking more of their income so the government can give it to whoever is the most politically correct at the time?
We all know not everything you read on the internet is true, shocking I know. Things like this cause issues when some individual reads something on a blog and then cuts and pastes the contents of said blog into a classified report without confirming the information within or finding multiple independent sources. That said report then causes a snowball effect that has people crying wolf and running around and gives the actual skilled analysts problems as they're now fighting an uphill battle with their well researched multisource information supported by classified sources because the first report said differently. Just because it's a classified report doesn't mean the information inside isn't bullshit if the single source is bullshit.
When I read this I couldn't help but remember a rather amusing fact of the space race. NASA spent millions developing a pen that would write in space, the Russians just used a pencil. It actually makes me wonder just how high tech this high dollar toilet system is or is it just heavy on common sense design?
China and the USA have been doing this for years. The US Navy has the CTN (Cryptologic Networking) rate that's specifically for Information Warfare. The key duty of a CTN being network penetration and defense. It's the rate to which I'm in the process of converting over to.
Just think of the relief for future explores. They can now have a nice alcoholic beverage on the rocks and not feel guilty about using precious water. Mars Snow Cones and Mars Bottled Water (patents pending) is taken so stay away you sharks!
Well it looks like the Tor network would get a rather large infusion of users if the bill passes. I already encrypt my email and chat and this is even more of a reason to do so.
I have a technet subscription that my workplace so generously shelled out for hence I have Vista Ultimate and Office 2k7 to play with. I know a lot of computers even in my workplace are older and couldn't run Vista. We can't upgrade because of budget constraints. We're still using NT on some servers and 2k on desktops. The cost of going to Vista isn't justifiable for the amount of headaches it will likely cause and I don't see a huge increase in productivity by having a pretty interface and a load of new features that make it more secure and have yet to be tested in the wild.
A little off the topic but with MS leaning towards enforcing kernel protection we may actually see a steady upgrade path that we don't see now as software loves to mod the kernel. If MS did happen to update it would likely break a lot of AV and firewall software. The same kernel modding by third party vendors is also a contributing factor to some stability issues (Not all of course... Windows ME was a virus in disguise) I'm interested in seeing how things pan out in the next year or so when Vista is in the hands of the general public.
You're always going to have people willing to camp out for a week (one wonders if they have a life...) to get a console that's beside the point as they are the minority. The real base of a system forms when everyone else gets a chance to own the consoles. Here the price of the PS3 is going to hurt it as Mom and Dad will be hesitant to pay or kids save up that much money for just the console when they could buy a Wii and nearly all the launch titles for the same cost.
Great now Homeland Defence is going to buy up all the graphics cards to prevent their dangerous computing power from falling in the hands of evil script kiddies trying to crack your hotmail account...

Freeborn has been created somewhat with this model. Their forums and the werewolf fan community have contributed quite a bit to what they want to see in the movie so in a sense they are open with certain aspects of it.
You can create a vmware ACE machine that's locked down and with a non persistant disk that it will revert to. VMware has docs that tell you how to set up the computer to boot into the ACE enviorment and explorer.exe will not be started hence if they do get out of the ACE machine there isn't much they can do. It works quite well.
On the other side of things something like Apple's remote desktop is a great program as you can basically watch everyone's screens. I've seen it used to great effect in my highschool as the teacher could sit and keep an eye on everyone.
There are a lot of possibilities but cost will always be a factor with normally underfunded schools.
I don't see what the anti clone groups are up in arms about. So you'll have herds of cows with the same DNA. If you believe what they say then all identical twins and such are evil as well as they are esentially natural clones.
Actually when the rods are down you don't need any additional cooling, at least with a naval reactor anyway. There are also reactors that can naturally circulate without the need for pumps at lower power settings.
