Exactly. I just turned a friend on to Open Office simply because he didn't want to pay $200, or whatever it is now, for OfficeXP. I know he would have bought OfficeXP if it cost $50, it's not like he's poor, but why when you can get what you nedd for free.

It's not slow drivers, and it's not fast drivers. both are equal parts to blame for the problem. I see it as poor lane discipline being the problem. If you're driving slowly, stay the fuck to the right. If you're speeding, stay left. It's that simple. Accidents are caused by people traveling DIFFERENT speeds. If everyone just stayed in their lane and traveled at the prevailing speed there would be less accidents. Notice traffic backing up behind you and people passing you on the left? You are a problem, speed up. Notice that everyone is going much slower than you? You are a problem, slow down. This isn't brain surgury.

and if you really want to see people drive like complete douschebags, I reccomend you drive a station wagon for a week or two. and I'm not even talking about some 30 year old, wood paneled vista cruiser. This is in my wifes brand new subaru. People speed up so that you don't pass them, people cut you off coming up to traffic lights, nobody will let you merge.

I've had Fios for a bit more than a month now and I'm generally happy with it. As mentioned the picture quality is better, and I have yet to see any of the pixelation or freezing I got from Comsuck. It even makes the 15 - 20 year old TV in my garage with no box look better. No lie. I don't like the channel guide as much but I'll get over that. Either way, it doesn't fix my single biggest gripe with the channel gide, if it's 7:59, and I click on a 8:00 show, just go to the damn channel. The channels are organized in a way that makes sense, not just any old place. Sports are together, discovery/history/learning are all together. my only real gripe is that with comcast there were always free on demand movies. not always new movies but there was a pretty wide selection that rotated from month to month. Fios doesn't have that that I've found. And I'm paying about $10 less a month for more channels.

I've had Fios internet for maybe 3 months now and I can't really tell much differnce from my cable, except when the bill comes. I haven't run much in the way of benchmarks, but it does feel marginally faster. Fios's news server is considerably slower. I guess thats what i get for still using news groups.

I wouldn't steal a car because it has value. Movie piracy is more like dumpster diving.

Seriously, what was the last great movie you saw? Rhetorical question because I don't want to get too OT, but think about it. I now routinely watch movies with the intent of laughing at their ridiculousness, their UCR (Unintentional Comedy Rating). I sat through about as much as I could stand of "A life Aquatic" the other day and it was just aweful. The worst thing is that I know they were sucessful in what they wanted to do. I'm a Bill Murray fan, and so I turned it on simply because he was in it. The studios aren't stupid, they know that there are lots of people like me who will watch it for exactly the same reason.

I have, in fact, seen some research into the effects of pornograpy on rapists. Generally speaking the data is inconclusive. There is evidence to support both sides, and neither side has a real clincher. Part of the problem is that it is difficult to isolate one specific cause. I can't provide any links because it was in a textbook from a class about 10 years ago. I do feel that it just sounds like a bad idea. Like giving axes to conviceted ax murderers, heroin to recovering junkies, and having convicted pedophiles running a day care, I believe it's a bad idea to tempt fate.
