In North America nobody is safe from the hand of the god damned moral police. People are fucked up, live with it. If they want to do something about child pornography go find the people that are making that shit. It is not a valid excuse to attack file hosting companies with, they didn't make the crap and they don't endorse it.
There is a part of me that would love to see the world burn because I would rest assured that the idiots who propagate this kind of crap will be burning a bit faster than me.
As someone who has experienced this first hand I say let people use laptops. I've used them for learning as well as getting distracted. Sometimes lectures are boring, if not using your laptop you'll be texting. If you get rid of the phones people read books/magazines. People should just police themselves on this type of thing.
Hello Mr. PlasticSugeonGuy,
Please make my ears look like this photo here. Great, thanks goodbye now.
Runs over to bank, yeeess I would like to withdraw 6 million from my savings account. Certainly sir, let me scan your ear first.
Ok the ear cheques out, here is your money.
There is a lot of static noise and occasionally a very loud crackly sound. Seems to be working on Telus up here in Edmonton Alberta (that is is Canada btw)
Nice to be able to call my mom who lives a couple hours away without being charged long distance.
It is quite the opposite sir, when I first started coming to/. there was a lot more actual tech news. Now it seems crap stories from digg and other bottom feeder sites are showing up here.
This tech will not work on a large scale, we will not be able to run our car's off of air. This type of sensationalist 'news' doesn't belong on slashdot in my opinion. Or at least don't make things sound better than they are. Tell it to us straight, as in we can possibly make a few drops of gasoline from air over a period of hours using some enzyme that doesn't currently exist.
Decent netbook graphics aren't what I'm worried about. I want a netbook with a processor and chipset that both sip a few watts of power. The current Atom chipset eats way too much watts in comparison to the atom cpu. Hoping AMD will eventually challenge them in this area.
The answer to your glossy screen issue can be found with Pixel Qi. They have replacement screens for your less than desirable panels that can function in direct sunlight with no backlight. These products are not widely available yet as Pixel Qi is relatively new to the market. They were formed by a couple people form the OLPC project who worked on the screen design.

So we are going to pump ourselves full of food and then let machines carry us around, this reminds me of something I've seen before involving a small robot.
My vote is no
I strongly hate "smart web print" most screen wasting piece of garbage, its bigger than having two useless tool-bars installed. I just want to punch the guy who thought a vertical tool bar was a good idea.
Not so sure if there is a morality to war, there definitely can be a purpose.
- To kill a few people to prevent a large number of people from dying. (Or "more important" people from dying)
- To assert your power and influence.
- To take things that are not yours but you need/want.
Yeah I definitely agree that Alice in 3D was quite terrible 3D work. I hardly noticed I was in a 3D show other than the fact I was wearing the stupid glasses and that the screen looked much darker than normal. Maybe it was the theater I went to but I felt like they had somehow conned me into paying an extra $5 to see the not as good version of the movie.
Judging by the salary ranges government agencies pay for IT workers it would be plausible to suggest that the $55/hour figure did include benefits. Would you work for that much as an IT professional with a few to many years of experience?
This is why I buy games, don't open them but instead download them because of the stupid DRM that plagues legitimate copies.
No I don't wish to always have the disc in the drive.
No I don't need an internet connection for single player games.
No I don't want to install copy protection software.
Make a good game and I will buy it.

But sir Apple doesn't have a playbook, that would be Research in Motion.

What difference does it make in regard to what they advertise to you? Ads are annoying be they promoting bicycles ,ferry rides or sun glasses.
"no "barrier" was broken here!" That's what she said.

iDon't welcome Chinese lording over anything, I like my tech to be free of toxic chemicals and slave labour

Time to start killing people that disagree with me, the Muslims did it so it must be OK.
He's right behind you.
I sure didn't vote for them.

Why not just use cash? You know like the classic brief case of greenbacks in a shady area of town.

Nice analogy *internet high five*
