While I understand their desire to have a wireless standard, Are we not forgetting there is a whole home standard being devised around broadband over power lines? Could they not instead use something that would travel the power line digitally and make the connection? Perhaps BPL is a dead horse but I had not heard that it was so. The home standard was to allow devices to travel the wire path to make all sorts of connections. This would be a much better design IMHO.

Yes, I live my life in walmart fashion.. but even so walmart is outrageous on cable pricing too. I once picked up a 250 disk cd binder it was 17.99 on the computer access aisle. I walked four aisles over to the audio aisle.. same MFG but different outside design case for cd's "packaging" was 9.95... I backup dvd's religously as I have a 5 and an 8 year old. While they do not fubar my movies much they fubar theirs like mad. "imagine if you will your 5 year old walking into the room with the dvd held correctly in the center by his finger.. and the underside of the dvd having peanut butter and jelly on it.."

I have no desire or intention to pay for anything more than once. Taxes are bad enough at doing that why should I buy a player that only makes it harder for me to escape that idiocy? Better quality? Well I have a 42in plasma.. and yes it looks great with hdmi connections and Hi Def... but there's not enough hi-def content for me to appreciate it fully yet. Dvd's look good and i'm happy with them so far. I still don't have a compelling reason to buy anything incrementally better. Well if I take away the supply it gets more expensive to buy, If I hire you back at higher wages it's going to cost the consumer more. It's a really nice touchy feely web site but it doesn't work that way. Somehow they believe there is a magic bullet of higher wages=higher performance or perhaps some micromanagement solution that will create a ginormous influx of cash. Thereby providing you with money for nothing and a short vacation. If you honestly want a 2.99 mcdonalds plain hamburger or 10.00 a lb sugar you keep living the dream and quit your day job and demand higher pay. Because every penny more you get, you will be paying back in some other higher cost you caused by your demands. Have a great weekend! Intel did this it seems to me about 2 years ago? I know I read it somewhere they've made these cuts before It's a cycle and as they ramp up some new thing or take over another company they'll have duplication of jobs and find that by losing some they'll actually gain or remain the same in performance.

However my first box did crash, Second box had HDMI but it wasn't setup correctly and I had no indicaction or manuals of how to make it work right. I took that box back and got a new one. The tech at comcast's office showed me how to access the more "pro/advanced" features and since then the new box has been excellent. When I first got the last box which I use now it was slow for a couple weeks. Now it's responsive and works much better. It's a much better box than some people give it credit for. I too am disgusted that I can't use anything but firewire to get video off it. However it's not critical for me as I tend to watch things and delete them.
