    it always seems with companies that offer marginally useful services are always fighting to stop others from helping, rather than improve their product so that it becomes useful. if people would only realize that it's not that difficult to do their taxes, they wouldn't need intuit's software.

    There are lots of alternates to Cable Internet...Well 2 here in Canada for the average joe consumer: Radio and DSL or perhaps that should be DSL and radio What is interesting is that rogers sells the cable TV as well (clearly) and so they able to punish their competitiro. Interesting. I am looking forward to netflix coming to Canada. I'll definitely be losing the movie channels on my satellite dish.

    You know as soon as you see a group, then you read into it a bit more and you find out that a lot of the group is composed of competitors. so then it goes from being a group with a legitimate complaint to a group of cry babies who can't compete and are trying to get the government to help them because they are weak.

    Watching commercials on a Tivo Now i live in Canada, so I don't have Tivo, but I have the equivalent in Canadian terms. My question is this. Why would anyone in their right mind watch commercials. That's like buying a car and then pushing it around yourself. Definitely not taking advantage of the technology.

    I guess it all depends on what "reward" you are receiving for watching the add. If it comes with free content, or free bandwidth or something I can see it. I would want to be able to opt out tho, and pay for what I get, rather than listen to a message. If I bought an Iphone and had to pay attention to adds, well, my blackberry is working just fine. What concerns me is that the ToS could change, so I buy something, and then they start pushing adds down my throat afterwards. This is why I own a PVR.

    LOL All they are doing is trying to get their name out there to make money. There is no such thing as bad publicity, right? and if you don't know that upgrading your microsoft OS from a previous version isn't a terribly good idea, then you really shouldn't own a computer. Well...maybe a mac.
