This guy is a damned fool. The entire article is written in a condescending and very 14 year old style. If this idiot wanted to rile up support he should have done it intelligently.
I live in China. Seriously. 11 Million is like peanuts around here, this country is exploding at a phenomenal rate and to be honest the adoption of 3 ply toilet paper is higher than 27% and it makes a lot more than 11 Million a year.
I don't beleive this can be right.
Okay, I refuse to believe that someone who is dumb enough to have to steal laptops for a living will be hacking away at Objective C code to disable a GPS tracking device:) Should that be the case, we will invent a nice GPS system that can be remotely activated and is not dis-ableable. We will test it on real hackers first. If this sort of technology can be implemented in a dmaned wrist watch, I want it in my $2,500 dollar macbook pro!
Well it sounds like dental technology hasn't changed. My dentist is a bastard from hell, a flint drill would be better than that little whining lightning rod. And I'll bet the ancient Pakistani's let you get properly smashed on fermented goats milk before they took the drill to you. None of this "Injection in the mouth" bullshit.
Fuck the alarm! Like anyone is going to care. What they need to do is add a GPS tracking device that is soldered into the motherboard. This way when you switch it on it transmits a GPS locator signal that cannot be turned off. No more stolen Mac's. Breitling (the watch company) put similar technology into a watch years ago. I want it in my Mac.
"Hold on man! Don't take it! It's an Apple! They have fucking satellite tracking devices in them!"
Seriously.
Any news yet on the arrival of the 17" model? I decided to skip early adoption and wait it out, the two co-workers I have who bought the 1st generation Macbooks have had no problems so how significant are these problems?
Okay okay okay, enough with the Apples already. I am a self proclaimed Apple fan-boy, but I am honest to myself and if Apple ever mess me around I will switch. The customer service is great, the products are great and Steve Jobs is a very clever little geek. The question should not be why is Apple popular amoungst its fans, the question should be where is the rest of the computing industry? Sony and Dell should be doing better than they are. Much better. It isnt about "market share" it is about sustainable profitability.
Ben.
Okay how can someone do all of those things to your computer just by visiting a webpage? Seriously? I use Linux and Mac and have not touched windows for years, so maybe I am a little out of the loop here. Someone can just mess up your PC for visiting a website? Is it really that simple?
Ben.
Okay I love it, hell it is an Apple product so everyone except hardcore cynical tech fiends will love it.
I really do think that this Mac Mini should have used the same VPU as the new MacBook Pro (ATI Mobility Radeon X1600) running the 256MB VRAM option, this would give it a gaming edge that would assist in having this product appeal to the whole family. Yes it would have increased the cost price of the thing, but not by so much that Apple couldnt swallow it.
Dell is down and Apple is golden right now, this is the exact moment that Steve Jobs should be stepping up to the plate with a fully featured Mac iMedia Home Centre and taking the living rooms of the US by storm.
I found this paragraph highly concerning "Today it is in fact a group of very generous philanthropists who will get the call before we get a press conference," Tarter said. They include Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen and Microsoft chief technology officer Nathan Myhrvold. Is this for real? NASA (who pulled funding on SETI years ago) is now asking them for free advice and the Microsoft bosses are going to be the first ones to get the heads up on ET civilizations? Damn, that could be dangerous for more reasons than I can think of.
My evil and much feared mother in law was happy with dial up too. Until I forced broadband on her by sneaking the installation guy into her house when she was on vacation. She is incredibly happy with it now and says she doesnt know how she lived with out it. The only problem now is that she is a total net nut and stays up till 4 in the morning totally wired on coffee.
Maybe dial up is better for some people, but I would rather shoot myself than access the net via a modem ever again.
"LiftPort successfully launched an observation and communication platform a full mile in the air and maintained it in a stationary position for more than six hours while robotic lifters climbed up and down a ribbon attached to the platform."
Six hours of climbing up and down a ribbon? What? We are going to be ferrying multi-million dollar satellites into space using hair products? Did they lose the cable? I for one am going to need to see pictures.
There are toads the size of dinner plates taking over the country? Damn! I am going to pack my golf clubs and head down there to help out. Who's with me?
I wasn't aware that it was possible to use a gasoline engine to burn hydrogen. In fact I am quite sure it isn't, still the RX8 is a brilliant piece of kit and I am glad to hear that Mazda aren't going down the Prius path like Toyota. The best way to see implementation of non-fossil fuel cars is to make them go reallyu fast and look damn sexy:)
Ben.
Is computer addiction really so bad? What are the alternatives? A walk in the park? I read online, I watch the news online, I communicate online, my computer is a central figure in my life because it has so many varying abilities. Which one of these activities would be considered the addiction? All of them?
When I start purse snatching off of old ladies to fund my internet habit I will admit addiction, till then it is just an activity.
So with the faster chips the batteries are going to take a hit right? Apple have been very quiet about MacBook battery life and this makes me fear that should I buy one I am going to need a very long extension cord.

Go Apple.

You know what this is! Microsoft is jealous of Sony's advanced Rootkit technology :) !

Apple are going to do something very very cool. I would bet good money on it. Apples target age group is 25-35 so they better. :)

1. The floppy drive is not a "credit card slot".
2. The optical drive is not a "coffee cup holder".
3. Hard Drive does not mean "tough".
4. Kazaa = Bad
5. Windows = Bad
6. Slow/broken computers do not respond to threats, violence or psychological warfare (unfortunately).
7. Use Firefox NOT IE.
8. Computer = Friend.
9. Internet = Good. The internet is only as evil as you are.
