Loebner Talks AI

While I agree that Loebner is an idiot; I'm working towards a masters degree in AI implementation; you can work on the philosophy of the thing after we've actually got some idea what it looks like. What we have right now are machines fitted to certain problem domains capable of taking broad unparsed input from those domains and spitting out answers without having those answers coded in; not the sort of thing that needs philosophy.
Really? So no one has made art in the last century? In fact according to your list, no one's made art on 6 of the seven continents; that's some great art appreciation there.
first off, creating punishments doesn't always work properly, because punishments usually serve as an incentive to go around whatever measures are currently in place (which are usually quite pathetic).
As to the predator perspective, it really is quite possible to harass people over the internet, and set up rapes using the internet; however, there aren't any countries that have fixed either issue in real life, so attempting to solve the issue in a vastly more complex environment is a little bit foolhardy (to say the least).
what he's saying is, instead of the heatsink (which sends heat into the surrounding air) use something that has high thermal conductivity to move the heat from the cpu to this chip (I think)
How the hell did the loss of a rover lead you to atheism being the source of all violence?
Also, in regards to that nice little book, the bloodthirstiness is sort of global. There are just as many mass murderers who say "god told me to" as there are mass murderers who decide that the lack of a big scary bogeyman means they can throw morality out the window.
Ok, so your big issue with the game is:
a)boots
b)not yet another mmo
c)not playing a role in the story
that last one is actually valid, but you don't get much of an ability to affect wow either now do you? The only game where I've ever had real ability to affect the world is in a mud, you might want to try them some time.
actually, the high tech goods are increasingly showing up from japan and asia, as opposed to the US. The US seems to be converting almost entirely to management (note that management is not r&d) and services rendered to the management.
I may be slightly overprivileged, but cat-5 cables seem to be pretty commonplace in my area (same w/ broadband routers, home wans, etc.) And the people using them aren't even all that savvy, roughly 3/4's of the wans are unsecured. Roughly 2-3 years ago, broadband did become sort of commonplace.
actually, I think you're missing something, what if they turn ipod's into memory cards for the wii? video ipods could work similar to the dreamcast cards and... wait, dreamcast comparisons aside, $150 cards probably won't work. It would be nice if they could though, i mean they're already widespread and have plenty of storage.
uh, please don't bring politics into this. I mean the republicans (who are now taken over by the neocons) distrust anything that goes against the bible. All you would have to say is that newkewler power runs on aborted fetuses/ god came to you and told you that man, evil sinful apple/knowledge seeking beast that he is, came to you and told you to blow up nasa, and nasa would be up in flames, just like this post will be.
nvm, I read the actual article; and while lack of a hard drive is a legitimate concern, it is not really fair to negroponte.
otoh, some people need to grow thicker skins; gates is defending his business interest; some lying in the process is usually expcted (even if it is unethical)

just don't touch my stapler.
solid water is called ice, the reason it was called liquid water was to disambiguate it from the other states of water.
This guy makes me more violent
I've gotta ask, what the hell is this? just spam or what.
actually, technically it's the UK. Britain is an island, and England is a part of the UK (along with norther Ireland).

nah, he just owns a large flat space posited by string theory.

Yeah, but the people that vote for him tend to have more clout; stupid electoral college.

a> you'd be surprised how computer savvy most asians are b> text based games are teh roxxor! (especially muds)

Am I the only one that thought, why not read the fingerprints on the moniter?

as much as I hate to defend Bill; the article said "inevitable criticism"; Bill hasn't done it yet, it's just that he will in the near future.
