    you forget about the real money makers: those that produce all the iPod "stuff", like jackets and protectors and other accessories. Oh they'll be making a killing turning the iPhone into what looks like a ribbed rubber brick for her pleasure.

    If the wealthiest 1 percent of people have far more than 37% of all the money, then I'd say its fairly reasonable. Hell if I had a few billion I wouldn't care much if 50% of that went to taxes, I'd still be richer than most countries in the world! Greed is a human condition we all must deal with.

    think outside the gamers defending themselves stance, and think of it more from a completely logical standpoint. To claim that A caused B, without any consideration for C through ZZZZZ is to simplify things to the point that it has no more place in logic anymore.

    before that last update, I had no problem with MCE, other than the fact that it was MS. Because of this, however, I from here on refuse to use MCE and am using SnapStream until I can find the time to set up MythTV.

    its a pretty fun game. I guess people also tend to forget that pretty much every MMO ever release had a few months of very rough performance. For WoW it was major lag, for Vanguard its the graphics. I really don't see a big difference there, and I kinda appreciate the fact that once I can get a better computer the game will look even more amazing than it does now. That's aside from the fact that the game's performance has drastically improved the last couple of months. I know I probably just sounded like a huge zealot there, but whatever, the fact is the game has actually managed to keep me as a casual player for a few months now, whereas WoW only managed to keep me for 2 months and it was my first MMO.

    But if it can be argued that ATI's driver on XP are horrible, then saying their Vista drivers are better is like saying a Scion xB(ox) is faster when its been all done up with spoilers and chrome and such... that fact is its still a god awful looking box car.

    sorry for the weak car analogy, I just really needed to bash that fugly cardboard box of a car.

    The wealth of tools available for Windows development can make some projects easier. Understandably sometimes linux can have issues regarding drivers, library files, etc, but I think in general Linux development is far more powerful and allows much more flexibility when programming. I believe this is why Ballmer was stressing the importance of developers, since so many are of the microsoft haters guild from being gilded in the past.

    how skilled is the average US programmer versus the average outsourced programmer? it seems it would be harder to communicate effectively to the outsourced person due to locality and language barriers, and would therefore possibly create some interesting roadblocks to development of a project.

    isn't the xbox 360 the second version? I'd say they did pretty ok there. However, going by these rules of thumb is generally a bad idea no matter who is creating the product. Let the device speak for itself when it arrives, judge it only then not based upon what came before it or after it.

    that said, the only way the Zune 2.0 will go anywhere is if they allow the WiFi to actually be useful.

    I'm heading in the same direction towards Ubuntu, away from openSuse.

    I've installed openSuse 10.2 on no fewer than 3 machines I use, and although for the most part they each work fine for my day to day activities, each one of them can no longer open yast2 unless accessed via command prompt as root, the auto-update is broken on each, and since I use Gnome, the VNC server for each is completely fubar. I'm now just waiting for the next version of Ubuntu to be completed here in the next couple of weeks.
