With respect, I'd data to verify that number please. I'd argue that much of the world's war is caused by human greed, with religion being the pretext and/or justification for the war. That doesn't make religion responsible, it makes it an excuse for war.

Recognizing this fact, society must take some measures to prevent its own destruction at the hands of it own populace.
A lot of the fear is scaremongering by the Mothers/Students Against Drunk Driving organizations. At my high school these groups did some kind of presentation at least once a semester. Instead of teaching that alcohol needs to be consumed responsibly, they preached that all alcohol is bad and will make you into some kind of monster if you come within 5 feet of it. They're responsible for most of the legislations that raised the legal drinking ages.
I'm not a programmer, but off the top of my head, I'm thinking that each individual file gets an encryption key which you pay $X to get. This lets you download the file. Once the file is downloaded, you need some kind of identification to use it (username/password) which probably costs $Y more. So they make you pay for the download, then pay for the ability to watch it. I'm sure there are more ways around it than I can think of. Someone wanna take a crack at it?
I really don't think illegality of code is going to stop many users. For example, at one point it was technically illegal to install the mp3 codecs on Linux without a liscence (not sure if that's still the case), but that didn't stop any US users from doing it as far as I'm aware. If the risk of punishment and/or getting caught is low enough most Americans will ignore the law in question.
For example, how should a true Christian recieve this news?
Define "true Christian". Are we talking about Pat Robertson or someone more akin to Donald Miller? How you respond really depends on how you practice Christianity. Christianity has variants and extremes like any other religion, but no stance (with a some exceptions) is any less true than the others.
As a Christian, personally I welcome any news of scientific progress. Right now, the Bible and science contradict each other on the origin of life. But through study, perhaps one day we can find new evidence that will reconcile both theories.
A lot of American universities and colleges have similar setups. Texas A&M in particular comes to mind. Motor traffic is common only on the roads that surround the campus. Mostly the roads and streets are used cyclists or pedestrians. Motor traffic is limited to the bus or the occasional tourist or professor. What helps a lot is that pedestrians demand the right of way, instead of asking for it.
Sounds like a bunch of peckers if you ask me.
Well that goes without saying.
"He started it!"
Yeah, that's mature.
Actually El Chupacabra is a compound word that translates to "goat sucker"
Add a Dairy Queen, some damn fine margaritas, and a homeless drag queen that runs for mayor and you have a small taste of life in Austin, Texas.
Think of it as sort of an FSM communion
Apologies, that should read "I'd like data to verify."

"Get over" as in getting over a crush, forgetting someone, moving on, realizing $THING is not the most important thing in the world.

As preventative measure against splurging. Or against rubber-stamping.
Don't doubt for a second that if Iran had the power to do so it would.
"The use of silly string is hardly environmentally friendly"
You're right, corpses decompose much faster.
Could you tell me where you found that or is it an original creation? It's going on my quoteboard.
I don't know which is worse, the fake quote or the Slashdot crowd being all too ready to believe it.

There's another oversupply joke somewhere in there, I just can't find it.
"When will the US admit it screwed up - AGAIN?"
When the UN gets off its ass and does something.
I really don't think your argument has a leg to stand on.
It's all part of his brilliant strategery!
This is the tabernacle. More proof that Microsoft considers itsself godlike and worthy of worship.
