The 360 and PS3 will always win when playing games by yourself.
/sarcasm Obvious enough, I must be deluding myself into believing I'm having fun when I play Zelda, Trauma Center, Excite Truck, Elebits, Rayman, WiiPlay and WiiSports(all games I own) when I'm at home by myself, because no one can have fun by them self when using the Wii. NO ONE!
I for one am passing this expansion up for the moment. $40 seems a bit pricey for what is currently going to be grind, gank, get ganked, repeat just in new areas and dungeons I probably won't see unless I devote every extra bit of time I have to a raiding guild. Don't get me wrong I'll pick this up eventually, but only after the storm clouds have cleared and the price comes down.
Sony is touting how many they've shipped. Whoopee! All that tells me is how many or how few they've been able to produce. When I see sales figures I'll give a rat's ass. Anyways, I can go to any local BestBuy and walk out with a PS3 no problem. They just aren't moving in my area. Now the Wii on the other hand... I'm just happy I froze my ass off in October to pre-order one of those suckers. I'm sure Nintendo's sales figures for NA can hands down beat Sony's shipment figures!
I haven't been background DLing jack because Blizzard's download client sucks donkey balls! I'll just wait until patch day and and DL it in five minutes off of Filefront!
I never expected them to get rid of maintenance days. That's how it's always been done and I'm guessing there is no way for them to update without taking down the servers. It's not like GW where you get a system message saying there is a new patch, log off when it is convenient and download it.
Actually, most of the time Blizzard gave compensation for extend downtime in the form of extra days if maintenance took a lot longer than expected. When I was playing WoW regularly, almost every patch day the servers would be down for 4 or 5 hours more than expected(sometime even longer). A lot of the time, when this happened to a server you had a character on, Blizzard would tack on a free day to you account. I regularly got free days just because a character I didn't even play anymore would be on a server effected by a delay. 5+ hours extra downtime(on a server I no longer play on) but I get a free day of playtime. Totally fine with me.
It doesn't change much about our job. It makes it easier to design the same stuff we've always designed, but it doesn't encourage us to try anything particularly new.
Strange last time I heard anything about programming/designing for the PS3 is that it was even more of a bitch to do than it was on the PS2!
Not true at all. My friend is the ASM at an EB Games. I talk to him all the time about what they have in and wheat's selling. They get more Wiis the PS3s most of the time and the Wiis sell out within seconds. The last shipment they got people where waiting outside at 6pm the day before to get them, the PS3 just doesn't seem to move like that. The closest Best Buy to me has had the same PS3 for atleast a week.
The Wii has a supply problem because it has such a large demand. Nintendo is definitely shipping more Wiis than Sony is PS3, it's just that the demand for PS3 is already beginning to stagnate while the demand for the Wii is growing.
I didn't already have a top of the line desktop sitting right next to my TV. If I didn't have a computer it would be friggin' amazing but having to zoom in and out constantly to navigate a page is annoying. I do have to give some props to nintendo's download server. I have the whole thing downloaded in about 2 minutes time. I was expecting it to be flooded and take forever. When the final version is released it will definitely be something to grab, if only to avoid paying $5 for it once June hits. But seriously, if you have a decent computer I see no real point to it!
Mow is Metroid "flogging a dead horse"? There have only been 9 games in the series over the course of 20 years(that's counting the DS pinball game). Seriously, bring on the Metroid games. I want to finally finish the Prime storyline!
Owners of the Nintendo Wii reported that when they used the Nintendo remote and wrist strap, as instructed by the material that accompanied the Wii console, the wrist strap broke and caused the remote to leave the user's hand. From what I can tell most of these incidents have involved Wii Sports. Pages 7 - 11 of the North American Wii Sports manual clearly state to "swing gently" for each individual game under the heading "Holding the Wii Remote." Given that Wii Sports accompanied the console they obviously didn't read all of the accompanying literature.
I can't imagine hooking up a 360 controller to my PC as one of the features of PC gaming over consoles is the fact that a PC gets to use a mouse/kb and the console is stuck with a controller. I actually have a 360 controller just so I can use it on my PC. While I don't use it for most games, I have found it works great for games like Phantasy Star Universe.
If you're complaining about it taking 30 seconds for your rig to boot up your friggin' impatient! Mine takes ~30 seconds from the time I hit the switch to the time Windows have everything loaded. 30 seconds is definitely fast enough, a lot faster than my laptop, and way faster than my old K6-2 with a bare bones Win98 install so my parents could surf the net.
The same could be said about the PSP and the DS, the PSP launched a few months before the DS and thus people already had picked it up, and their games. Then, intime for the holiday season, Nintendo released the DS.
I don't know where you live but here in North America the DS was released a full 4 months before the PSP in the states. The Nintendo DS released in Nov. 2004 while the PSP was released in March 2005.
iPod was great! Zune eh... everyone that wanted an iPod or something similar has probably gotten one. My Local EB Games got two in the day of release. Guess what... they still have two and so many accessories they can't even put them all out on the floor.
Actually, you're both right. While SoM is the second game in the series, towards the end of the SNES's life here in the states SquareSoft was going to release Seiken Densetsu 3 as SoM2. Lots of fans still consider it to be SoM2 til this day. Unfortunately it was dropped just before release and North America got Secret of Evermore instead. Definitely not a fair trade in my books.
But really, I could care less... especially when I've got this and a modified SNES!
Sorry, I already did my camping out on the 13th for the Wii pre-order. When the 19th rolls around all I have to do is walk in remind the manager of the local EBGames what my last name is and walk out happy! And personally, I have a large Turkish friend with a heavy accent and enough girth to be intimidating. He waited with me to pre-order the system, he's going with me when I go to pick it up. I think I will be fine!
I was the second person in line... Got my system, and extra wiimote and nunchuk pre-ordered! I had lots of fun playing Mario Kart DS with the guy that was thre before me. Can't wait until the 19th of November. Twilight Princess FTW!
Honestly DQ8 was a great game, but this company has lost me. I played FFXII in Tokyo this past March and I could have sworn it was Xenosaga with a face lift. Story is great but when I drop $50 on a game I want to actually play!
I'm looking forward to Dawn of Mana and Children of Mana... after that I don't see much coming from SE that makes me want to swipe my debit card.
Heck yea I can't wait. Espcially with all the games that are going to be in Wii Sports: Baseball, Tennis, Boxing, Bowling, Golf. That should be pretty fun right there!
A little bummebed though that MP3 is not a launch title:(
DDO sucks, their I said it. If someome else hasn't beaten me to it, it's been said now.
I played DDO in the beta, I was part of the head start, and played through til almost module 2. My subscription was paid up til August, I quit playing the first week of June. The game is just bad, and the more Turbine does the more they shy away from Keith Baker's vision of what Eberron is to be like(read the intro to the campaign setting and you'll get the idea) and the more it isn't DnD. About the only good thing this game did was to get me to read the Eberron novels, of which Keith Baker's own Dreaming Dark trilogy flat out makes the Stormreach of DDO look like a horribly knock off. We should all do Eberron and WotC a favor and not play this game, let it fail. That way a decent DnD MMO can be made by a company that isn't trying to grab the WoW crowd!
Maybe all that time I spend in front of Trauma Center is a good thing!
NO ONE!

For now RL > WoW...!

Why defrag before patching? You'll just have to defrag it after updating anyways :P

Good plan, too bad I'm friends with the manager and assistant manager of the store I go to :P
