I would love to see a Wind Waker Wii-make with all the features Miyamoto had originally planned for it. I know that in atleast one article I read years ago he said there was supposed to be atleast two more dungeons and the hunt for the Triforce wasn't supposed to be an annoying romp across the ocean.
Eternal Darkness would also be a really cool game for a Wiimake.
Umm, what absence of information? There's a e-manga that fills in most of her back story. (Translations of which can be found here.) Then the manuals are actually filled with a great deal of information. Some of the Chozo lore scans from MP1 give you the Chozo viewpoint of Samus and her role. And, there are also the flashbacks in Zero Mission which give a small detail to what here childhood was like. There's a whole bunch of information on Samus for those that actually want it. It just comes down to whether or not you really care to get into the story of the Metroid series.
Personally, throw a Metroid onto a system and I'll buy it. I can't wait to see how the Prime trilogy ends.
I must agree Eternal Darkness was friggin' creepy with all the lights turned out, it was creepy in general until you figured out what was going on. Even worse with the surround sound going. My girlfriend won't even watch me play it late at night it creeps her out so much. It is honestly one of the "best games no one has really heard of" on the Cube. It didn't release to a lot of fanfare, and it died out pretty quick... I've still got my copy mainly because I haven't totally completed it yet, just have to work up the nerve to go through it one more time to see the real ending.
They's have to offer a whole lot more than a special DVD and packaging for me to buy FFXII. I wasn't impressed with the demo packaged with DQ8, and even though finished game was a whole lot better than that demo ever was I don't see myself buying this game. I got to play it for a while when I was in Tokyo at the end of March(I actually got there the day after it was released) and it just didn't seem fun. I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy FFXII, but unfortunately I won't be purchasing it. Quite sad given that I've been playing the FF series ever since my parents bought me the original for NES way back in the day.
Of course, Square-Enix will still be getting money from me this fall. Children of Mana is on the horizon as well as FFII DS, and Seiken Densetsu 4 will come stateside eventually.
When 88.4% of the polled market says the price is too high maybe you should listen. This is extremely true in Japan, where while the younger generation still has money to burn, they aren't going out and buying things that cost $600 not while they are paying sometimes almost $1000/month for that one bedroom appartment.
Hell, when I went in March to see my girlfriend, the only person I ever saw with a PSP was her brother. His friends said they wanted to get one, but that it was too expensive.
While in Tokyo in March, I went to a Yodobashi Kamera in Shinjuku and noticed they were still selling new Dreamcast games. The system may be dead in the rest of the world, but for some damn reason it still seems to be kicking in Japan. Just not as much as the rest of the consoles.
Honestly, I see all the crap that Sony is saying as even more reason not to buy one of there consoles. I bought a PS1 back in 97 because FF7, what can I say I loved 4 and 6. The first one I got didn't work out of the box and I had to return it(never a good thing). About year after the PS2 came out the second one stopped entirely(so it lasted about 3 and a half years:P). I had been saving for a DVD player at the time it died... I ended up spending the money on a PS2 so I could watch DVDs and play my PS1 games. My PS2 stopped playing DVDs within 6 months... 6 MONTHS! I payed $300 to have the thing break on me in half a year. I had to scam Wal-Mart to get a new one. If Sony thinks they will get me to buy another POS when they cost in $500+ I say "HA!" I've already given them enough of my money for shitty hardware, why give anymore of it away?
I have 4 consoles sitting in front of my TV now: NES, SNES, Gamecube, PS2. Can you guess which 3 I haven't had problems with? And if Sony thinks I'm gaga over blu-ray they can sit on their thumb and twist! I have around 50 DVDs sitting on my shelf. I could care less about blu-ray when all the movies I actually want to watch are sitting in my entertainment center already. I'm getting a Wii once they come out, no doubt. I might even get a 360 if the price ever drops... But, I will not get a PS3!

... it was determined today that Ken Kutaragi has a stick thoroughly shoved up his ass. When asked is this was a flaw or intended, Kutaragi responded "Sony has no flaws," and that no matter what he is God and we should all bow down to him because he knows what is best.
I stopped reading when I realized the guy never took a course on Japanese in his life!
Granted, some are saying "Wii" is controversial mainly in the English-speaking world (the Japanese can't even pronounce it); in France, for instance, it's a homonym for oui (yes).
Now looking back at my Nakama 1 textbook for oh so long ago, I turn to chapter 3 and have this nice huge section of the book about a little character set known as katakana. You see, katakana is used for "loan" words and in some cases to created sounds that aren't normally present in the Japanese langauge. And while katakana doesn't exactly have a character for "wi," it is a far cry to say the sound isn't there in the langauge. By combining the characters for "u" and "i" you get "wi." Add in a long vowel sound maker and we have "wii." So you see, the Japanese are perfectly capable of saying this word and he obviously has never taken a course in Japanese in his life!
So far I've enjoyed DDO. And I know a lot of you are disappointed with it,but I went into the game not looking for a PnP in MMO form but something that isn't WoW. I played WoW for half a year. I had a level 60 orc lock and a 40 something troll theif. I never liked the raids. I would rather be forced to play with 5 other people(11 others if it is a raid party) than to have to deal with 40 people.
So far I haven't ran into any whiny kids on the voice chat, or immature 1337 speakers! My guild is doing quite well, and all of them I've partied with so far have been mature about every quest. The built voice chat is something that other MMOs need to start doing.
I know it isn't much, but I've had a good experience with the game. I was never into endless grinds or racing to get some amazing set of equipment so I could be the same as everyone else. On the same note I wasn't expecting the D&D PnP experience from the game. I got what I believe is a pretty engaging game, if you have the right people to play with.

Now that I think of it, God was trying to teach a lesson. Not to me or the others in the party, just that mage. And the message was "That's nice, LEARN 2 PLAY!"

Sony may have Squeenix and it's mainstream series still in their pocket, but Microsoft and Nintendo have Mistwalker Studios.
Sakaguchi's new company is already working on 2 RPGs for the 360, Last Odyssey and Blue Dragon, plus ASH for the Nintendo DS(Sakaguchi lays out Mistwalker plans). Sakaguchi is basically considered the father of the FF series, having been either been a producer or director on all the Final Fantasy games(even FFXII from what the IMDB says). IMO, he alone is enough to tip the tide for the 360 in Japan. Mistwalker just has to start getting its games out!
So, I'm watching the video... OMG HAX!!! That is some really wicked shit! I thought the Metroid speed runs on http://www.metroid2002.com/ where crazy but this stuff is insane.
Hiroshi Yamauchi said at the show "I don't mean to brag, but when this game is finished I believe it will be our best ever."
And then The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time came out. Seriously though I loved playing Mario 64. I don't have an N64 anymore, but when I bought my DS I made sure to get one with a free copy of Mario 64 DS. It's still hella fun.
Living in northwest Arkansas, home of Wal-Mart, I know for a fact that they do ID you for software that is rated MA 17+(my firend went to purchase Diablo 2 after the rating was changed, he was carded right in front of me... all he could say was WTF!?!?!). Other stores, such as EB Games and Gamestop, have carding policies if the clerk has reason to believe you aren't 17 or older. It doesn't stop someone from getting what they want. Like others have said, the only thing this actually does is force minors to procure mature rated software some other way... Over the net(the anonymity of the debit card), through parents, older friends. Laws such as this won't stop children from getting them and it annoys the hell out of me.
I'm 23 you ***damn idiot, give me my copy of "Murder, Rape, Pillage" before I cut you head off!
... that if a console doesn't offer atleast one game every gamer cannot do without at launch then that console has not succeeded in offering the greatest launch line-up ever! It doesn't matter if that one game is the same for everyone, or different games in the line-up. Microsoft did not makea game that ther average joe-gamer would want so bad that some like me would go out and hunt a 360 down. Being 23 years of age, I am the supposed demographic of the 360. Have I gone out of my way to buy one? No. Will I? As the old 8-ball would say, "the answer is unclear." And because of this, Microsoft has failed!
Man that promotion was great. I think I was 7 when my parents got me the NP subscription with Dragon Warrior. And, I also spent around 4 months on the game. I even remember getting the shit scared out of me when I defeated the Dragon Lord and he had a second form... good times, good times!
...and I have to say I'm thoroughly pleased. Square-Enix games haven't been pulling me in lately. I don't know why but IMO lately their games have just been losing there magic. I'm glad that this game sticks to its old roots.
The FF XII demo on the other hand blows. Taking crappy MMO gameplay and trying to turn into a single RPG will not get you anywhere. Unless some major improvements occur with the battle system and the AI before release it will probably be a rental only for me.
I got to play it a few weeks back. My friend was helping his manager shutdown(he works at my local EB Games) and while they were putting stock away I was jamming out on it for about 30 minutes! It is really one of the more inventive games of the past few years. I was amazed at the fact that even though I was suckin' at it I was still having loads of fun. It's definitely a game everyone should try!

If by KI you mean Killer Instinct, then no. Killer Instinct is owned by Rare and is supposedly already in the works for the 360.
