I was't used to seeing a Microsoft OS with such a logical control panel layout Ive been using windows since 3.1, and i have to say thank goodness they allow you to turn it off.
I know it makes it a lot easier for some people to change settings. But if you cant find the setting you want to change you probably think its not there, when it most likely is. Also seeing as im used to doing things without automation and wizards i get annoyed when a wizard trys to do something for me.
I love the UAC change they made and as for UAC, i call it a barrier for dummies. Pitty most dummies turn it off in favour of not getting that message that one day could be worth it.
it isnt the best solution, but at least microsoft have tried to make security a bit more controllable.
Just yell out "Im disadvantaged!!" They should make it cheaper:)
Seriously though, broadband in Australia is definitely crap. 99% coverage isn't going to mean a lot for us because we are all still on bandwidths below 10mbps.
I know that where i live there is an ADSL2+ (which would be slow compared to USA's standards) hub ready to roll, but its not turned on, and for some stupid reason wont be for a while longer. No one can access it, and its pissing me off.
All phones these days are basically the same, 99% of phones call people by typing a number and pressing the green phone key or the ok key. A smartphone is exactly the same, except you need to bring up the keypad first, if its a touchscreen phone.
Devices these days are more "Easy to use, hard to master". So, a one off test like this wouldnt show very much. If you want to go all out try to get her to sync with another device. I synced a guys PDA with his phone in about a minute over bluetooth and the guy didnt even know that it was able to do that.
Microsoft have taken some measures to fix the problem youve stated. lot of dialogs now come up saying things have been disabled for security/compatibility.
All i can think of at the moment us UAC. i havent turned it off, but i know a friend, who, not to be mean, isnt very good with computers. I just shook my head at him when he said he turned it off.
One question i got a lot at school is "why dont you just tell me the answer?"/"why dont you do it for me?". i replied "because noone did the same for me".
That business plan is crazy,
Just crazy enough to work....
Fast Internet != Backwards Time Travel

Chapter 3:
Sit down for a while and actually learn how to use a computer, not just how to do what you want.
The End.

Learning yourself is the best way in my opinion.
I will be rich and famous when i find a way to stab people in the face over the internet - http://bash.org/?4281
That way I can remove them.
the US has hardly used any of the giant stockpile they have, let along any other country. do we REALLY need more?
Until the internet is 100 percent bulletproof, web based apps will never fly, period.
And your Computer is?
