    Because?

BEECAAAUUSE we will eventually find a Space Jesus in another civilization!
The aliens that we discover will be worshiping their own Jesus, one who is older than ours - this will cause a schism between Earth Jesus followers, but many remain faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ. Another several thousands of years pass by when encounter YET ANOTHER civilization, one who worships, what we quickly came to call him as, Space Jesus #3, who bares an uncanny resemblance to the Space Jesus' 1 and 2.. also with Krishna, Mithra and Horus (thanks Bill Maher!) but we're talking about Jesus, here.

Some time later, we've come to discover over 200 Space Jesus' in our own Milky Way. After millennia of toil, the most recent Space Jesus lived within the SAME EXACT time period that Earth Jesus was being engorged for sins. This debunked the claim by the New Space Jesus Order that all Space Jesus, including Earth Jesus, were in fact the same Jesus, wiping out sin from the galaxy like an inverted Santa Claus. The remaining true believers of Earth Jesus, a blip compared to their former breadth of influence, are flabbergasted and are mocked by the majority.

However, the remaining followers, berated and on the cusp, regularly resort to violence to prove everyone else wrong. IN THE NAME OF EARTH JESUS!

Wait, did I say religion was gonna end? ..nuh-uh

As to the weight of the light saber -- have we established it would have no weight? Certainly, any of the scenes in which a light saber flies around, the physics seem modeled to indicate weight.

The scenes depict weight because they were modeled after Kendo, tennis swings, and such, so they adopt the weighted swing.

However, you don't necessarily need more mass (weight) to increase inertia (an objects resistance to change of motion), such as electromagnetic fields.
Besides, I do believe light sabers are made out of light ;)

I'd rather have all bitchy soccer moms, politicians, etc, to channel their stupidity and ignorance into him, so we can squelch Jack by proving him wrong.

Too bad you can't change a zealot's mind, but the soccer moms who care enough might hear some of his losing battles, and that's what really matters.

It wasn't the media's decision, it was the "executive committee of the South Carolina Democratic Party." Either way, it's a shameful shame.

I do agree though, this country is not a democracy. It can be, though. Shame, shame.

  18. Re:The "Space Race" on China Launches First Moon Orbiter · · Score: 1

    I partially disagree.

Two divided efforts competing towards the same goal can indeed achieve more rapid productivity. However, I believe that if a single combined entity is more effecient if its bureaus are large enough to promote inner competition.

In my opinion, divided efforts can produce wayward results, such as if Company A achieves a result 2x faster than B would have, Company B would have to diverge its focus from other departments to stay in the race, or else would have to suffer other losses, having to choose the lesser of two evils.

Inner competition is more friendly, less stressful, and if one department/bureau gets 'ahead of schedule', others would be pressured into catching up, but not in a detrimental way.

Too bad I'm just a theorist, and I don't base this on much. Inner competition really thrives if the single entity is large enough to Utopian-like proportions any-hoo. We will have to settle for our divided efforts, but it suffer from its division.

I thought of this idea about a month or two ago for the United States. My idea though was to have discussion forums, perhaps moderated like on slashdot, for voters to bounce ideas off one another. A summary then should be written with a poll on it, almost as a petition. These petitions could be edited under a sub-discussion, and if edited, the poll restarts under a new summary of desire/demands/comments. This is how the voice of the people should be represented, using the benefits of collective wisdom of the public.

  20. Re:The expansion decline on More Lich King Details, Apologies For Burning Crusade? · · Score: 1

But what is that consensus the result of? More content near end-game? Little and static features for lower levels? Following the model of previous MMO's? The players will play what is provided by the game. At first, it's to level up to 60. Then the designers think "Ok, what should they do now once they've got 60?" This very question unevenly divides the focus from the rest of the game content.

Personally, after a couple of years playing WoW, I never made a char past 51 or so. I did the same with EverQuest, too. I enjoyed just traversing around, playing every class to get their experience/feel, more of RPing than end-game raids. I quit both MMO's because I felt as if they were ignoring my kind of gameplay.

Atheism is defined as the disbelief of a God or supreme-being, while agnostic acknowledges that there is one, but doesn't follow it, or that they personally leave the question unanswered. Most buddhists believe that the idea of a God is a mystery and unconceivable if there was one, but not denying an existence of one.

  25. Feelings that aren't provided on Games Less Engrossing Than Other Media? · · Score: 1

One of the most controversial findings is the assertion that games are less engrossing than other media, with players having less of an emotional connection to in-game events than the events in a book or movie.

When you watched Independence Day, did you cry when the President's wife died? No, because the movie wasn't made that way. Games are pretty similar too, as the action usually takes priority over character connections. But hell, my heart warmed up when Ness was having flashbacks when he got one of his Your Sanctuary's, I got chills when Chrono got killed by Lavos, and I'm guessing a lot of people cried from Aerith got stabbed (I already knew =\). Even when I played KotOR, I was feeling some adrenaline when my character awoke on a battlestation that was under attack.

Too bad some of these games are ancient, and that I haven't experienced a strong character connection since. Am I jaded, am I playing the wrong games, or is the industry focusing too much on other gamer demands?
