There's a difference in being a Programmer and being a Software Developer. A programmer writes code. A software developer not only writes code, but understands were things fit together in the bigger picture.

1) You have to have a Mac to do iPhone development 2) The Apple App Store requires you to pay every year to keep using the store while Android Market only requires a one time payment 3) I have more friends who own Android phones than own iPhones, so this gives me a larger group of testers. 4) This one no longer applies, but you used to have to be on AT&T to have an iPhone
It's not necessarily that plug-ins must die -- they push the web in new directions. It's that HTML should take the good ideas that plug-ins come up with and make them part of the standard.
If the network is so limited, they should be trying to upgrade the network.
