If the school will let you burn things, try building alcohol burning camp stoves. They don't take long, and different styles can be compared/tested against each other in scientific method experiments.
This seems like bunk to me. I've cleaned some very nasty rentals, and I've removed roach grave yards by the pound. Every roach I've ever seen doesn't bat an eye at eating their departed comrades.
For a while I was working maintenance at an apartment complex. Someone needed their doorbell fixed. I knocked on the door, and no one responded, so I used the key to enter while announcing my presence. I spent about a half hour in there, when suddenly the pile of blankets in the bedroom starts to move and the resident rolls over and freaks out. I apologized and quickly wrapped up.
Thankfully, the manager thought it was funny, but the resident's husband got a little angry. Personally, I thought he should just stop giving her roofies.
One finding was that women were generally regarded by both sexes as more aesthetically appealing than men. The other was that the most attractive parents were 26% less likely to have sons.
What does that say about my wife and I? We have four boys.
The fact that he was a lawyer has little relation the story...
As the child of a lawyer, I can attest it most certainly does. Lawyers are expected by judges to know the law and follow it expressly. My dad would rewrite permission slips for school field trips because some office aid had put some stupid release of liability clause in there. (Eventually we just learned to take those things to Mom.)
As part of a weight loss initiative, the local hospital offered body fat tests for only $50. You must be under 300 pounds just to take the test. I know someone who wishes she could just find out what her body fat percentage is.
Being able to change your character dramatically on a whim make it feel like you're playing with Mr. Potato Head instead of playing with a long-lasting character who's worthy of investing your time and efforts. For an RPG, character progression is a huge part of the game.
But toons are no longer unique. Before the first expansion, the devs had invested so much time in creating unique and class-specific gear, most players were were individually identifiable just by visual appearance. As BC progressed, gear homogenized within each class. By the time I quit playing, I couldn't tell one warlock from the next. Everyone had the same set of PVP and arena gear mixed with an occasional Kara piece. There was no longer diversity. Everyone WAS MR. POTATO HEAD and we all looked the same.
Here's a skill that will help you your entire life: Learn to say "no". You don't need to be a jerk about it, just present them with the same solid argument you've presented here. As you grow older, it might be more convenient for your neighbor to borrow your lawn mower then to buy one himself. At what point do you decided to stop bending over and taking it in the rear Mcfly?
Here's the reality. You have a valued possession. If internet access was valued by your dorm mates, they would all have their own laptops. Do any of the borrowers loan you their car or art supplies? I'm guessing no.
I worked at a grocery story that had a 1-hour photo. The manager, Harvey requested that an extra copy of any naughty pictures be saved in case we were ever involved in litigation or criminal investigations. Mysteriously, the "Harvey-file" (as it later became known) disappeared the day the manager was transfered for sexual harassment.
I'd like a function in my ad blocking extension where all ads are initially displayed. If a website behaves badly with their advertising, a single click permanently disables all the ads on that site based on the currently existing subscription lists.
Adblock basically has all the code for this function already, but it isn't implemented within a friendly user interface.
If you're wiring a patch panel for the first time, however, order a hundred or so cables of various length and save yourself the hassle.
... or hire an unpaid summer intern from a local high school who wants some experience in the IT biz. Lets be honest here. Its people can't find jobs right now, and if the kids is even remotely interested in IT, he will choose pulling cable through your dusty attic over flipping burgers any day.
It's taken alot of stuff from Battlestar Galactica ...
I also caught the "FTL" comment and was waiting for someone to ask "What the frack is Dr. Rush doin up in the CIC?"

Somehow, this just doesn't add up.

For off-site backup, never under estimate the bandwidth of a station wagon filled with data tapes.
Brings new meaning to "the night isn't over yet baby."

Personally, I'd argue Twitter focuses an individual's attention far away from their circle of influence and consequently has negative value.
Analysts report office productivity skyrocketed today.
"When I couldn't get on Twitter and Facebook, I figured I might as well get some work done," said one office denizen.
Early reports indicate the single-day increased domestic output may have propelled the country of the recession ...

She would have at least had a different hairstyle, and possibly a golden bikini.

Or it could be a plot by the US government to create an army of disgruntled, economy destabilizing gold farmers in WoW.

In summary, just grow a pair.
0, 0, 1 Sweet 0, 0, 1

I find it ironic that the SC AG's office promises to monitor Craigs. I can just see it now:
"Jimmy, you need to go troll an adult oriented web site all afternoon to see if they have taken down the dirty pictures yet."
"Yes sir!"
But real pilots don't use docking computers.

Want some Trek Cheese? How about in TNG movie when Riker tells the computer to go on manual pilot and a joystick pops up out of the floor?

I can just see the endorsment touting the "sweet smell of victory."
Thankfully, people with low IQ's don't vote often.
