Dick had specifically requested in an e-mail that the MPAA not make copies of the movie.

Ahem, wouldn't that be considered a verbal contract? He submits the DVD and says "Do not copy, please." Or does he have to explicitly say, "DON'T FUCKING COPY THIS MOVIE YOU FUCKS!" and have them sign it for it to be a contract?

I knew it was bullshit, my coworkers knew it was BS, and the poor SOB on the other end really knew it was BS. But, if either strayed from policy it was our asses. Why was this policy in place? Because the higher ups didn't want to take the time for all of the inevitable exceptions that occur.

An Indian economist, IIRC, wrote an article explaining why the population in his home country is increasing like it is. In a nutshell, it's because there's no provision for retirement, or for that matter, taking care of people in their old age. So, folks rely on their kids to take care of them in their old age. The more kids you have, the better off you are in your old age. Of course, in the meantime, taking care of all of those kids is a strain.

As libertarian as I am (notice the small 'l'), I can see the wisdom for having some social programs. In this case, it helps reduce population explosions.
