  1. Nirvana & Pearl Jam on Optimum Copyright Period Decided by Math · · Score: -1

So their first couple of albums would be in the public domain? Hardly worth making a decent album if you can only make any money from it for 14 years.

  2. Quantum Compression on Text Compressor 1% Away From AI Threshold · · Score: -1

Or how about quantum compression? Given 0 bytes of data it will decompress it back to form every document that ever existed or will exist. Only trouble is when you actually examine the document it fixes on one but it may not be the one you want.

  3. More mouse & less keyboard on On the Widespread Misuse of the Mouse · · Score: -1

The advantage of the mouse is that you can do a lot of work without having to touch the keyboard. If you are using the mouse then it is it is very annoying to have to switch to the keyboard to do something. Than again I am not a touch typist or anything.

The think I hate about OSX is that all the commands are hidden in menus. There are hardly any toolbars in Mac software. This means that the lovely GUI parctically fores you to use the keyboard. Thats just wrong.

  4. CD Bloat on Singles, Not Albums, Define Music Industry Success · · Score: -1

CDs came along and everyone though they ought to release 80 minutes worth of music when they released an album. Even though they only had 40 mins of decent music. There are loads of albums that would be perfect if they just dropped the 3 "filler" songs.

Hopefully this wil herald a return to the days of hit packed EPs.

  5. Re:Blipverts! on Minisode Network Condenses TV Shows to Under Six Minutes · · Score: -1

Adverts are getting longer and programmes are getting shorter. At some point its gonna cross over.

  6. Someone say FUD??? on Vista is Watching You · · Score: -1

    I think thay did.

  7. 361st Comment on The Man Who Went Through 11 Xbox 360s · · Score: -1

    How fitting.

  8. Sort of ... on Vista Games Cracked to Run on XP · · Score: -1

This is a bit like that hack where you could change one registry entry and WinXP would think it was a server version. Except that it wasn't and didn't do several thing the proper vsersion did. If this does what it says I will be very surprised.

  9. Good enough is good enough on Is the CD Becoming Obsolete? · · Score: -1

I think you will find that the majority of people find CD quality "good enough". They don't sit in perfectly quiet rooms with $1000 headphone trying to visualise the band. If you are listening through headphones (no woofer/tweeter) or outside bitrate quality will probably be lost on you anyway. Ps. /. hates me so thats why I am posting at -1. :(

  10. Re:Clarify your question on Best Non-Subscription DVR? · · Score: -1
  11. Its the new Big Brother on Volunteer to Simulate a Mars Mission for the ESA · · Score: -1

Just stick 3 camera in each room and a "live" feed back to Earth. Might have a hard time voting people out though.

  12. Tagging on Manhunt 2 Banned In Britain · · Score: -1

They should at lest tag the boxes the games come in so we can track and study the people who like playing those sorts of game.

  13. The general public ... on Marvel Studios to Produce Its Own Movies · · Score: -1

have only heard of about half a dozen Marvel/DC heroes at most. Saturating the markey with a load of also rans aint going to do them much good. Batman Superman Spiderman Hulk X-Men Howard the Duck How many peole knew that Ghost Rider was a comic book adaption instead of a crap Nicholas Cage film?

  14. Hhhmmm ... on iPhone Gets Better Battery, Scratch Resistant Glass · · Score: -1

Swapping out the plastic screen for a glass one. That's bound to cost more.

  15. Bully for example on EU Considering Regulating Sale of Violent Games · · Score: -1

If the boss at Rockstar can explain how he can sleep at night having released Bully then he should be allowed to keep their profits.

  16. Tight integration on What Microsoft Could Learn from OSS and Linux · · Score: -1

The whole thing about MS apps is the tight integration with the OS. Office docs embed in Sharepoint systems which run on MS servers and are viewable on smartphones. If you turn one bit of it loose to a doesn't see the big picture then the whole lot will fall apart. also i suspect MS makes most of its money selling stuff rater than supporting stuff.

  17. "Baby I'm Bored" on Why Music Really Is Getting Louder · · Score: -1

Evan Dandos solo album "Baby I'm Bored" was mastered so softly they had to stick the phrase "play it loud" on the artwork. That was just bad mixing though.

  18. Doesn't work?? on No Intel Turbo Memory for Desktops Until Next Year · · Score: -1

Wasn't there a post recently saying that Apple weren't going to use it as it had no really noticable effect on performance? Perhaps we may never see it.

  19. How does it compare ... on Sun CEO Says ZFS Will Be 'the File System' for OSX · · Score: -1

to the new MS filesystem? You know, the one that was in Vista until it got dropped. That was supposed to be bleeding edge a couple of years ago. Not trolling, just curious.

  20. Re:Netscape is dead on First Peek at Netscape Navigator 9 · · Score: 0

It's going back a bit now but IE4 and NS4 were both considered the bane of internet devs the world over. No one liked NS4 as far as i remember.

  22. New chip set ... on MacBook Pro Gets Santa Rosa Chipset, LED Screen · · Score: 0

    must upgrade!!!

  23. Re:Roll your own! on Memory Checker Tools For C++? · · Score: 0

The problem is that you have to do this.

  24. iTunes ... on HardOCP Spends 30 Days With MacOSX · · Score: 0

is about the only decent bit of pre installed software. Just what % of users really spend their time making podcasts or home videos? There is a darn sight more freeware for windows than there is for the mac. It's better quality and more UI consistant. I am a Mac convert as well.

  25. Re:Not Surprised on Review of Windows Mobile 6-Based "Wing" · · Score: 0

If your company uses Office and Exchange then its a no-brainer when it comes to what phone to give your workforce. Sync your e-mails, make the odd change to a word doc i=on the road. Perfect. Ok, so even i have heard of peoples phones crashing mid call.
