Yes but they take much longer to come on stream than just building a big diesel generator. Besides water is all tapped out. Wind does not give power on demand and nuclear is (insert scarry music here) is well NUCLEAR!!!!
Hybrid cars will not reduce the amount to oil required by our society. It just moves the burning of it from each individual car to a central power plant. All they will do is reduce the polution output since it is easier to monitor one large plant than several thousand cars.
The problem is that unlike oil in the ground there are no concentrations of plastic anywhere. They would have to be collected and that process would probably use more oil that the plastics could produce. Mind you if you could put a big plastic straining unit in that mass of floating plastic in the Pasific Ocean it might be able to collect enough to payfor itself.
This is what you get when your government does not have to spend all its energy fighting the next election the day after after it gets elected. They can actually put long term plans in place and do nto have to cater to small swing voting blocks.
Back in the day when I was a sea cadet I was part of the honor gaurd. We used to take our rifles home to polish up, repaint the blacking and clean the webbing. Now these were real WW2.303 but had no bolts. Lots of us used to take the bus and we never had any problems.
My son's middle school was built at the height of the 'dot-com' craze. It did not have real library (broom closet) just a bunch of computer labs. Two years ago they refit three of the classrooms next to the 'library' and built a real library full of real books.
Actually what probably really pisses off the American Federation of Musician's is that it is illegal for them, as well as anyone but a private citizen, to contribute to any federal Canadian politician's political campaign.
If people really wanted to support paid for news sites they would with cold hard cash. It just seems that they are quite happy to get their news from free government supported news sites.
True Story:
Canadian governent contractor was demoing the system. Part of the system to be used once the data was entered into the system was the report generation. This was demoed with some sample data The customer signed off and the contractor was payed.
Then about 6 months later they were trying to get the reports to be printed out but not matter what they did the reports all came out the same the dates were 6 months off. Thats right all the reports were hard coded and did not even touch the database.
Radio Shack used to sell a suction cup mic to attach to the ear end of the handset it was then plugged into a casset recorder. However, you probably will not need it as once you tell them you are not the right person and they know the conversation is being recorded they will hang up.
Probably not because it is not as easy to buy a Canadian politician any more. So the voting public actually has more of a say in what goes on.
As of 2007:
"Corporations, trade unions and unincorporated associations may no longer make political donations to candidates, registered electoral district associations or nomination contestants of registered parties. The existing prohibition on donations from these organizations to registered parties and leadership contestants of registered parties remains. However, an employer can give an employee who wishes to be a nomination contestant or a candidate a paid leave of absence during an election period, and that leave will not be considered a contribution."

Don't you mean "give news sources something to talk about ad nauseum".
That is what my ISP does I save $0.50 every month by having my bill emailed as a PDF.

Like they will really sell below the world price per barrel. Their investors will really love that. Not.
Only if you are not an elected official. Then it is called a political contribution to your re-election campaign.
Get Drunk :-))

Just let them know that
"This phone call is being recorded for legal liability purposes."
Actually no. Read up on the various compatibility tests done on all the major ODF implimentations.
Actually they did not. They deviated just enough with regards to implimenting the standard to make their version incompatable with everybody else.
Just impliment Open Document Format (ODF) like every other word processor.
The point I am making is that media providers may soon require such technology to be active in order for you to have access to their content.

Then you don't get the service.
When in the military we used recall lists combined with a telephone and the lists listed people in order of priority to notify.
