You forgot to add one variable, the artist. I've seen lots of people buy music they first downloaded for free, but unfortunately (for record companies) it tends to require more from the artist than just one hit song.
Exactly. I have downloaded a fair amount of music. Usually I don't go for a full discography of an artist/band, but instead download one album. If I like that album enough, I'll go buy the band's other albums. Had I not downloaded the illegal copy in the first place, I would never have bought any of the band's music. Specific examples I can think of are Underoath, Wu-Tang Clan (and subsequently the solo albums of the members of the Wu), and The Number Twelve Looks Like You. That's three groups that would have not gotten my money had I not pirated some of their music.
Excellent opinion. It really is sad that our government would even try to abuse us this way. The Patriot Act left me with cold feet from the time it passed (what a black day that was) to now. Finally we can stop some of the abuse I hope.
Honestly, the Geek Squad at the Best Buy in my area is a terrible excuse for a computer support/repair specialities group. I will mess with them when I go into Best Buy, and ask them a range of questions from simple stuff like the difference between AGP and PCIE is to what exactly the DPI resolution on a mouse means, and how that will effect me while gaming, and I always like to throw in something about what the specifics are of how NCQ works, and do I need it. It's hilarious, because none of them really know the easy questions, so they are completely lost by the time I'm through with them.
need to be Call of Duty, BF1942, World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, HL2, Counter Strike, HL1, Warcraft III, Empire at War, Guild Wars, EQ2, Lineage 2, F.E.A.R., a roller coaster, Mike Birbiglia, and all of the Quake and Unreal Tournament games wrapped up in one shiny package. Good luck Duke...
Honestly, you aren't going to see any better performance from this console than you would a PC you built yourself. One reason is that the half gig of ram is going to be a bottleneck to the Cell processor and the GPU's on this thing. Plus, by the time this comes out, you could easily get an SLI or CrossFire PC for only a little more, and have something more suited to PC use. Besides, there will be a PS3 emulator before too long...
were just gonna make it so you need to upgrade your console every year or two to play the latest games at their max settings. After all, you're getting such a cheap deal on the PS3 as it is.
Ahh, mister soup nazi, how well you know me. I personally stalk people for the heck of it, but I use the half-life approach of running around with a crowbar, whacking whatever pops out of a dimensional warp near me. IN THE FACE. That's right, I hit them IN THE FACE! The video games made me do it.
drhamad- I don't know exactly what player you're referencing, but for example, the Creative Zen Vision:M 30GB and the Apple iPod 30GB are both $299 (ignoring Apple edu & corporate discounts, even). And that's not even getting into the software side of the equation.
In several reviews I have read from multiple magazines and websites, the Vision:M continually comes out on top against the 30Gig Ipod in terms of battery life and the quality of the screen. Also, the Creative is a hair less likely to scratch, and while that doen't matter to me, it does to some.
Nintendo doomed the console when they decided on their controller design. How is a motion sensitive, 2 part controller, with one joystick and only a few buttons going to translate to the XBox 360 or PS3 controller? Developers will avoid the console not only because of the stupid name (and it is indeed stupid) but because it would be so damn difficult to realse a multi platform game on the Revolution (I will never call it the Wii). So don't condemn the developers because they aren't jumping on the Revolution/Nintendo boat.
It's great to have a 1600 watt or 4000 watt or w/e powersupply, but will it fit into an average gamer's ATX form factor case? probably not. This Megawatt one will. up to now we havent had that kind of power accesable for the ATX form factor market.
I would have to disagree with a few of their decsions. BF2? I have it, it's nothing special, especially since it was the first game that I know of to have its first patch recalled. -1 point for EA. Call Of Duty 2 (not Big Red One) should have had its spot. Excellent gameplay, a great new engine, and a great online community really makes CoD2 stand out. In sports, what about Madden 06? Lets give EA a little credit. They smashed the comptetion for NFL games to oblivion, and then made a good continuance of the series. I was expecting an updated rehash of Madden 05. And drving... Where's PGR3? It is by far better than any Mario Cart game. And in a return to shooter land, BiA:Earned in Blood was much better than Road to Hill 30.
My school uses Smartfilter Bess Edition, and the screen caps are blocked...

The ladies will be all up ons when they see my obvious guitar skills! Thank you Guitar Hero Series. You truely are my hero.
Personaly, the only good I can see in calendars is for oggling at the amazingly sexy Lucy Pinder. Otherwise, they're pretty useless.
