Most likely it will work like Warp Pipe does. Warp Pipe allows you to plugin the IP of the remote game cube and there's also a Warp Pipe finder. Also, the next version is supposed to have chat and other features too.
One thing that just tees me off a bit about Nintendo is the are crippling it by not setting up obvious games (Mario Kart Double Dash) for internet play and make users have to setup their own network just to play 8 player races. Warp Pipe works around this limitation but they really should have allowed internet play from the start.
DSL, Damn Small Linux embedded will let you run Linux in a window with X Server, SSH, VNC, Mozilla Firefox, Dillo, a texteditor, vi.....you name it. It all fits nicely on a 128 MB USB key. Oh and it's based on everyone's favorite live CD, Knoppix.
Damn Small Linux embedded is the best. I have my SSH keys and the liek on there then when I am in someone else's office and need to ssh into the server, pop my USB key in, boot the linux distro in a window (on windows or Linux) and do the work, shutdown, yank the key out and the Windows desktop is untouched. Life is good. No need for this cygwin live cd.
EA would not do that....the individual race teams would to protect their sponserships and thus far, that has not happened. Almost every special paint scheme is available for NASCAR Racing 2003 since the game came out. EA Could care less. They still get thier money when you buy the game.
Some people don't need to scream at the top of thier lungs to take a quick call at the theater.:P Turn the phone off.....you can tell your not a parent. When your out for the night away from the munchkins, you do not turn your phone off...ever. Yes yes yes......people went out for the night without a cell, but why should they have to turn it off because your selfish and want to watch your precious movie?? Guess that makes me selfish.
What is it with the frickin Jihad people have on using phones in a public place? Last I had heard, noone had legislated that being a inconsiderate assmunch was illegal. Here's my tips for blocking out people talkign loudly (it works on my wife, so it will work on your idiot cell phone user):
1. Headphones man....put em on when you get to flight level and crank away my friend!
2. Just ignore it. Get into something like a good book and you can block out most anything.
3. Relax! It's ok dude! That person talking on thier cell phone is exercising their rights. You can't legistlate the rights of people to be idiots. People are going to be idiots whether they have their cell in their ear or not.
Now, here's a list of cell phone usage rules for the idiots:
1. Vibrate man.....put it on vibrate on the plane, in the theater or in a restaurant. If it's a quick call, take it. If it's going to get extended, head for the restroom and finish it up in there.
2. USE YOUR INSIDE VOICE! If your in a bad cell, hang up, call later.
3. If it's on audio ring, silence it quickly. No reason to hear more then the opening bar or two of music.
4. If you simply need to make that call, then wait til you get to a private location. Don't make extended chattering calls in public. If it's simple hey we're running late calls, go ahead and make it or take it. If you feel the need for a cell convo to take your whole plane ride, don't. As you can see from the posts hear on slashdot, it annoys people.
Lastly for everyone, TAKE A FRICKIN CHILL PILL! People are idiots with or with out cellphones, cars, bicycles, walkmans, bass thumpers, iPods, laptops....etc, etc....they will continue to be idiots when you take their toys away (in fact they willl be worse because now you have to listen to them whine about it).
Ahh....I have never had a newer iPaq reject a single older binary....unless is was compiled for PocketPC 2000. 2002 and above binaries have worked fine on almost every ppc that has come out in recent memory. Only exception might be the hacking tools.
I used to use Weatherbug. In my opinion, there's still not anything as good, but there are some that are close and I have to settle for that be cause I REFUSE to deal with the spyware they want to include. The spyware used to be an option and now it installs without asking. IOh I can remove it and it keeps going, but spybot search and destory considers it spyware. I was amenable to having a cookie like thing for controlling the ads you get in the free version, but when they started including wacky crap with it, enough is enough. I hav e actgually been using and have been quite happy with ForecastFox extension to firefox, but it still does not kick off warnings. I have been using another program that does do this (not sure which one but it does kick off a warning) and does not have spyware.
I think what is needed is we need to find the programs they use and put the non-spyware versions or other programs and say here....use these....never install the others. If I have to remove them again, the price doubles. I would love to installl Linux on my mom's desktop, but tell my dad he does not need to run Nascar Racing 2004 or any other game. If most of these folks could run off the shelf games, switching them to Linux would be EASY.
Dynamic LPARING...break a big hinking unit into smaller units or independent servers runnong on the gigantic server.
The ability to move resources from one lpar to another while UP!
Partial Processor LPARS....the ability to create a small LPAR that only uses a partial processor. For those times you need another server for a low load job.
Some builtin drive space for OS is nice, but we're using SAN for application storage.
Call home....loose a processor, then call service for me. Loose a fan, call home.
UNIX bigironshould be like that and IBM has it. We have a brand new 570 and that is a awesome box. Dynamic LPARING, partial CPU for a LPAR (AIX 5.3) Plus the Power 5 chip itself. Look no further for UNIX Big Iron...unloess u need bigger....then wait for the 595.
SEVIS is already here. Granted, not everyone will trigger a recors to be sent to INS, but those who fit the terrorist profile we're looking for. Strangely, I find that this seems to violate the fed's own FERPA laws....but I guess they could break thier own laws....
I remember when I longed for running E but alas I was still and am still tied to Windows at work. I have since grown up and bought a Mac. The Mac uses transparency correctly, IMHO. I have never ever seen the point of using a transparent terminal except for possibly using it for running tail on soem logs and such. Othere then that, it's an annoyance. It makes the text hard to read and I really don't like it.
NO NO NO! MPEG2=COMPRESSED I want raw DV video like my tape based camcorder already uses. That and I personally have no issues with tape being reliable. I guess it all depends on how you treat your tapes. If you constantly finger them or if you just stuff em in your pocket sans case, you WILL have problems. If you always put them back in their case and treat them as if they had your memories on them (Oh wait, they do....), then you should have zero problems.
Firefox one has been stable for me on at least 3 different windows computers and my powerbook. In fact, I have all but switched to it on my Mac as it handles Javascript better. It must be the guy who wrote this post. Try taking out all of the plugins and adding them back one by one until it starts having problems. I myself havebeen running less plugins, especially since RSS is now included (and sage does not work anymore(.
Not to sound pedantic here, but should computers just be like applicances? I personaly think there is a need for a computer platform, based on Linux or whatever, that it just handles things for you. I know there's always somethings that need attention, but should a OS be so easy to compromise as Windows is? Is Linux the right answer? Right now, I would say no because my parents expect to just go to the store and buy software and stick it in and it work. I think we need something like the following:
Similar to the Xbox in size
Keyboard, mouse
CD or DVD Burner (and software that makes it act, more or less as a floppy)
Easily upgradeable....no weak DIMMS or stuff like that. Make everything cartridge based (like atari or nintendo cartridges)
Network adapter.
Built in software firewall automagically configured for the web, ftp, e-mail and nothing else.
MAYBE a built in lcd.
Have a admin password, and FORCE users to use regular user accounts and type thier password to install software (ala sudo)...like the Mac does.
Software should only have the basic functions. No scripting languages embedded in e-mail programs. If you want any automation, do it with mouse clicks and not script languages.
Users are going to do stupid stuff. While I am not going to go to mom's for turkey day (blasted live server cutover scheduled for that weekend....), I am going to go the next week and I will do the scans on my bro's computer as well as mom and dad's. I may also setup a router for my brother (NAT will help cut out the nasty virus crap). Mom and dad are still on dial up. I shudder when the first High Speed ISP reduces their price to 20 a month in their area. They have seen highspeed at both my house and my brother's house and they love it, but they don't want to spend any more money then they already do on the internet. Happy Thanksgiving brother, now fix my computer! Sigh.....
What the problem is I think is Windows (other OS's you either have to do the setup on and know what your refresh rate is) is more conservative with the refresh rate so that monitors don't pop. Most newbies have no idea how to set the refresh rate. I however will NEVER switch back to CRT. Even at 85 Hz, my eyes would still ache a little at the end of the day after using a CRT. CRT's are done. Only reason to make these narrow ones is so you might get a chance at a 100 dollar or a 200 dollar pc. That's it.
I totally agree. I know there probably have not been a study yet, but my eyes are much less tired at the end of the day since switching entirely (at home and at work) to LCD. I am curious to see if there is any relation to LCD use being better for your eyes.
Nescafe has been making this kind of coffee in Europe for quite sometime now. They even have it in vending machines.
C64 had Hard Drives???

Nice but bashing the competition id not going to get you much. Being better will. Good thing it is better then IE.
While nice, be aware you can likely run putty off of a floppy or even a CD. Nothing installed (oh unless they county registry keys!....).

Why should I have to change my behavior as a cell phone user because some jackass seems like he wants to tell me what I can and can't do with it???
:P
Not that I act like a jackass with my phone, but I mean your trying to force YOUR idea on me....only fair that I force my idea on you.....

Yep and it's a bunch of BS. Like I woudl LOVE to have that one with the integrated 4 GB HD! :D But JAPAN thinks they know better then I do :(

http://www.engadget.com has it on their front page. Looks photoshopped to me.

UNIX Big Iron or zSeries (AKA Mainframe)??
Here's what I want on the UNIX side:
Dynamic LPARING...break a big hinking unit into smaller units or independent servers runnong on the gigantic server.
The ability to move resources from one lpar to another while UP!
Partial Processor LPARS....the ability to create a small LPAR that only uses a partial processor. For those times you need another server for a low load job.

Would the SPARC version be free? I need an update fo ra old Ultra 80 we're going to use.
