30 an hour would help me get out of debt! I don't feel too bad though because I have always had insurance. Insurance has helped me out alot as well as some of the county services with my son (he needed speech therapy and physical therapy do to a developmental disability that insurance would not pay...the county paid it all). My main problem is I have similar issues to this guy. I need to get a second job as well just to climb out of debt. Oh sure, I bought some things that I probably did not need, but non of those were on credit cards. They were on loans. My problem has been the house I bought 6-7 years ago was so quickly put up that I have had to do many things to repair it and I had to put it on credit just after I got out of debt. My floor rotted in my bathroom so I had to repair it. My second dishwasher in 6 years has just broke and I can't afford to get it fixed. Even if I did have someone try and repair it, it would end up being as much to repair it as a new one would cost to have delivered and installed. So I wash dishes by hand. Things are not so bad. My job is stable. Sure I don't get paid what I should (working in support for a community college), but I don't live in fear for my job on a week in week out basis. I just need a little boost to get things over the hump.

Then people will see it, think it's out, and go to thier favorite store and ask them about it. Most managers of these stores figures well if one store is selling it, then I sure as hell am going to make a sale as well. Then it just goes by local gamer grapevine and the day before the release date, everyone has it out for sale. I honestly don't understand why they do things like this. Direct elections just would not work. How would you recount MILLIONS of votes in a reasonable time? We all know what it was like in 2000 and it would be WORSE if we elected teh president via a direct vote. TRUST ME....much worse.

Our election system is not RACIST. There is no way Ican even see why you would bring that up.

In a Democracy, everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING...), from the simplest law to the election of the president would be done by popular vote. Majority rules. Come to think of it, that is fair and I hate to tell you this, but the MAJORITY of the country thinks like a republican. The sad thing is the amount of people that are actually registered compared to the actual population. I am so sick and tired of minorities pushing their issues on the rest of the country. If the class is not a early class in the CS flow, don't place the focus of the course on simple documentation. Also, on a scripting class like Javascript, enforce what would be asked for on your job. Inline comments. Block diagrams or system flows are more used in industry then nitty gritty flowcharts and pseudo code. As most CS projects are too small to go beyond building just a flow, I can see why they don't use block diagrams.

Classes should try to focus on teaching as much of the subject as possible in the time alotted especially if it's further down the prereq list. The subject should not be if you got your flowchart right! it should be if you got the program right AND knowing how you did it. Require the documentation, but don't let it weigh in heavy on the grade.

In my current class, there are also group projects (in a web class no less). While a little hard to deal with, it's not too bad as that is the way alot of developers are meeting.....just in e-mail or IRC or what have you.

In any case, as far as supporting others work, comments in the code and decent end user documents is all I ask.

Also, alot of languages don't lend themselves to flowcharting...so why require it?

I was amazed at the sloppy SQL I could send it.granted, you make a actual mistake in the syntax like a bad select it would not work, but if you jusr had say a capital H instead of a lower case h in a field where the name of the field showed as a lowercase h and it would work. Case sensitivity is there for a reason. I guess it could be the specific collation I set up the server with, but it shoudl have never accepted a select without a semicolon at the end. Plus don't get me started on why it was bad for Microsoft trying to improve SQL by adding their own things to there varient of SQL, T-SQL. Of course, Oracle and others have doen the same thing.
