Well, you got one part right: the market for HD is small enough as is.
But that small market is bleeding-edge home technology early adopters. So then you pick a movie that that core group is going to skip over without a second though? I don't get it.
I agree with the logic that they shouldn't throw their big boys in there yet (LOTR, Star Wars, Matrix, Indiana Jones), because they can hype them further once more people have a HD box. But still, if they're shooting for the middle-range, they could have hit some movies that are better to show off your new HD box (thats primarily what the early adopters want anyway). Give them a Constantine, Sin City, or one of the other graphically-wise spectacular middle-weight movies. Or how about comedies? Shawn of the Dead would have been a better choice than PotO...
Hmm, you do know that digidesign has been selling nice HD ProTools sets for some time, right?
And i'm not sure what you mean by 'emptyness', but i think what you're noticing is actually stereo separation. You mean like when hearing a guitar and drums over some good speakers, it doesn't sound like the whole room is pressed with sound? Some people pay alot of money for systems that good, and others pay a huge amount of money to go to recording school to learn how to mix like that...
Needing users to be local admins is turning out to be a pain.
Being at a hospital, we have TONS of specialized software. Every flippin department has their own contracted 3rd party stuff, and all of it sub-par software which requires users to be local admins.
I did figure out that they don't need to be admins for Citrix though. Just a permission change on a registry key (MSLicensing) and they're good to go. But jeez...
It'll be interesting to hear from my cousin what goes on. He's a Sr Engineer at Lockheed, and has worked on the JSF project for years. This directly deals with his systems...
The only ever game that bothered me at all was Metroid Prime. Your viewpoint through the 'helmet' was kind of skewed in a bubble type of way. Dark Forces for the PC way back had the same thing, but never bothered me...
You mean Immersion? Uhh, not only are they the guys who actually came up with it, but their stuff was licensed from Logitech for their devices. So what part of this don't you get. Immersion is not just some patent-whoring-lawyer-fest. They're pretty legit.

Granted, it was a crappy reference, but he's making a reference to the breakfast cereal Frosted Mini-Wheats. In other words, users like the little sugary extra with their normal bland whatever.
Nope, sorry, the Sony tv scaler is not better. I've got a Sony 50 lcd, and i was first running my regular old player in via component cables. After i picked up the upconvert player from Toshiba, it makes a noticable difference. As a side-note, if you hook up the upconvert player via component cables, you get a regular 480p signal to your tv. You only get 720p and 1080i when using the HDMI connection.
You hit it on the head i think. I'm in IT at a hospital myself. If there's something going on with somebody's machine and they call me, i don't care whats on their screen. It doesn't concern me, because all i care about is getting them back up and running. Our entire network is nothing but patient information. If we weren't allowed to see anything at all, we would grind to a halt.
For a true beginner, I still say regular old C is the way to go. Learn how variables work, function calls, passing arguments, pointers... There's something to be said with starting out compiling a single.c source file with gcc.
What are you talking about? The pager is the ultimate in quick and dirty: Your pager beeps, you look at the screen, it shows you the number which called you. Pretty fast. The thing is, with cell phones so small/cheap/easy, you might as well just answer the call instead of having to go find a phone and call back the person that paged you. That's the point: cell phones do everything a pager did, only better and cheaper. There's no downsides.
You're right about not wanting a smartphone or small laptop. These devices are often too cumbersome to actually use. What i'm saying that these devices will successfully merge. Its not too great right now, but it the smartphones will take over eventually.
Granted, pagers are still around (i have one from the hospital), but how many business users that used to have pagers now just have a cell or blackberry?
You mean Uncle Own. Sorry, just had to do it...

Yeah, I don't know about you, but me and my friends all liked Waverace...

So the big question is, just how crappy is it going to be? ;0)
The only ever game that bothered me at all was Metroid Prime. Your viewpoint through the 'helmet' was kind of skewed in a bubble type of way. Dark Forces for the PC way back had the same thing, but never bothered me...
oh crap, html formatting got me... I meant to substitute the word 'rape' for bully... oh, never mind...
"However, I don't like the idea of this game at all. Maybe because I was as a child, and the thought of kids playing as a really turns my stomach."
You see where i'm going with this? Just because GTA wasn't offensive to you doesn't mean it wasn't offensive to anybody.

Dead to Rights possibly? Didn't have the 'swinging' lights like max payne, but there was a whole prison sequence.
I'm sorry, the correct answer is "one more".

Props for that one. Classic stuff.
Modded insightful? Don't worry, i caught the joke...
That's the thing though: 2-3 hours, 2-4 days a week could be considered a lot... Especially for people working out in the real world.
Funny, thats what most haven't-quite-switched-yet Linux users want too...

And you're sig is the best idea i've heard in a while.
No, just 'find and replace'.
"Wrong. The phone has a faster UI than a pager."
