You appear to have been misinformed. Providing one does not incite imminent lawless action, it is perfectly legal under the First Amendment to advocate killing a specific person or blowing up a specific building, as a result of Brandenburg v. Ohio.

As you accumulate more of it, the marginal utility of money plummets.

That may just mean you end up working harder. The more cocaine you do, the less effectual a given dose becomes. That doesn't mean you give it up. You do more.

Furthermore, you need to account for the fact that as you accumulate more wealth, while each additional dollar gives less of a kick, it also becomes easier to earn. Finally, because wealth distribution is a bell curve, as wealth increases, so does the distance between you and the next guys up on the totem pole. The richer you are, the poorer you are relative to people who are richer than you (up until there's no one left). There was a Wall Street Journal article about this a while ago discussing this phenomenon.

On what grounds? That 'we can all agree such talk is bilge', and 'there is no need in modern society for such ideas' or some such? Insofar as bigots exist, and feel the need to express their views, and do not agree these views are without merit, these grounds amount to nothing more than 'because I say so'. What part does 'because I say so' have in a grown-up conversation?

  12. Re:0xB16B00B5 on Microsoft Apologizes For Inserting Naughty Phrase Into Linux Kernel · · Score: 2

It's sexist in that if a very talented woman programmer was going around hacking in the kernel and found it, it might make her feel uncomfortable. As such, it contributes to the feeling that Linux kernel development is an area in which women aren't welcome... And believe it or not, sort of thing is the reason why there are so few female programmers. Our "tiny female brains" can cope with the actual work *just fine*. :)

How do you know that that sort of thing is 'the' reason? Presumably there are a host of reasons, such as the fact women might rarely be encouraged to consider comp sci as a career in the first place, the fact that the scarcity of women in the field serves in itself as a deterrent, and the fact that the hours can be long and inflexible. Among these reasons, instances such as the one in question could prove to be of greater or lesser importance. Given the complexity of the issue, it seems difficult to determine how much of a reason it is, but surely it is not the reason.

Furthermore, wagging your finger at all of us knuckle-dragging neanderthals who might be disinclined to believe your proposition, and quoting our supposed belief that female brains are tiny (a quotation not in the OP's post) do little more than trivialize the issue at hand. Rather than engaging in much the same bigotry that you purport to condemn, you might consider taking the problem more seriously.
