It is great stuff. I purchased a hemp shoulder bag from The Boston Company about 6 months ago and it is still looking almost brand new. I don't like the feeling of synthetic fiber so all I can say is "Give hemp a chance!".

Exactly, not only will a browser zoom in text but also graphics and flash videos... the entire page. Small text has been a non-issue for years since every major browser has been offering simple zoom solutions and almost all implemented CTRL+mouse wheel. With Chromium I can zoom in until a letter is about 1 cm high. If this is not enough then there is special equipment one can purchase.
Curiously, whatever problem caused the XJ to crash also caused it not to respond to the laptop's reboot command, meaning we had to treat this £90,000 Jag like we do our janky old HP laptop: we disconnected the battery, killed the power and restarted it manually.
Even the cheapest Desktop/Laptop will respond to holding down the power button for a while and does not require the removal of the power cords/batteries. That is a serious design flaw.
I wonder how long it will take until this error happens while someone is going at MAXSPEED.
I was pondering about the Internet the other day and also came to the conclusion that there will probably be some sort of license to access the Internet. I am kind of glad that I am living now, 200 Years from now people will probably run around with a government issued RFID/GPS butt plug.
Sounds like the same sort of crazy Korean idea that fan death is.
Have you never used a keyboard in the winter? Did you not notice how your cold fingers do not move as fast and as precise anymore. You will see the same effect on your mouse hand just not as drastic.
I don't use multi player in my games because I am purchasing my games to play them alone. I usually wish that the devs would focus more on the single player aspect of the game and remove multi player completely. If I want to play a multi player game I go out and download/purchase one specifically for that purpose.
But this is a problem with almost everything now a days. Every company is trying to make a Swiss Army Knife without focusing on any particular segment so things end up being a pile of crap.
I had to take several classes where the teacher told me that I could teach this class. That is the problem when you have been working in the field and are now trying to join a system designed to start from zero AND to make money first.
Exactly, my Garmin GPS allows me to exclude highways AND interstates but not just one of them. So if the interstate is closed due to traffic jam I can not tell my GPS to simply avoid it and use the nearby highway instead because it would avoid both roads.
On the other hand I am glad that my GPS has these awesome features which allow me to view images or play mp3s while waiting in the traffic jam I could not avoided with better software.
We have a camera store close to the main station in Stuttgart (Germany) which has the same issue, or it did the last time I went there. The instance you plug your USB device in it will get infected by the photo printer. Not sure what it is supposed to do but when I try to run the file at home it won't work. Maybe I am doing something wrong.... $ wine yomamma.exe.... ohh well.
The staff is totally clueless when it comes to computers and management does not give a shit so I bet the machine is still infected.
In the last decade, portable computers have erased many of the advantages that desktops once claimed. While desktops are very fast machines, portable computers have been unable to shake their one glaring deficiency -- they're fucking SLOW!
But it does support USB networking, through which I can do anything, including ssh in or out. And it runs X, so I can display and use any application running on any other computer.
Yes it does but this requires you to use another computer to go through so you might as well use the more powerful desktop/laptop machine.
I am a network administrator and I have been in the situation where I needed to download a RAID driver and write the image to a floppy. With proper hardware support I could have downloaded the file via a USB NIC then write the floppy image via a USB Floppy drive. But since this is not possible I had to go to my car to get my laptop.
I don't see the crappy E-Mail client as a serious flaw since I can just install my own but the USB issue is a design problem.
yes you can and that is why I wrote "While E-Mail client can be fixed later on or replaced by installing another package....."
I am running Thunderbird through Debian Chroot because I have not been successful at compiling Thunderbird for the ARM CPU yet. Others have installed mutt or Clawsmail so this phone gives you true freedom, thanks to Linux.
So is there any console or other electronic gadget you can buy nowadays which does not include forced locked own firmware updates that has the possibility of breaking it?
The Nokia N900 is such a device. It is one of the few devices you truly own and where the vendor will not dictate what you are allowed to install. When a new firmware update is available you get a notification asking you if you would like to install it or not, nothing is forced onto you.
But don't get me wrong, The N900 is not perfect. It is a new device with a new OS and some of the applications reflect that. The E-Mail client, for example, is a piece of crap without proper IMAP support and spell checking. The webbrowser on the other hand is pretty cool and works very well. While E-Mail client can be fixed later on or replaced by installing another package there is one flaw which everyone has to live with. The N900 does not support USB Host-mode/OTG so it is impossible to connect an external USB Harddrive to it or a USB to Network adapter.
So yes there are devices out there which don't shove the penis of the CEO up your behind but you have to look around a bit to find them.
Dear Ubisoft, you are now the first developer on my avoidance list because of your archaic copyright controls. And this at a time where some developers/publisher start to see the light.
This will only piss off paying customers because your protection will be cracked eventually, probably within a few days after a game release. To the average pirate it will be just another NO-CD/No-Internet patch to others it will be cause frustration.
You might be too young. I still remember the day my friends and I tried either Toombraider 2 or 3 and checked if her boobs where still triangles, when viewed from the side. So this comic hits home and brought a smile on my face. Thanks
Well looking at your linked Homepage you are probably not too young but you never checked Lara out from the side:)
How could you if the laptop is inside a bag. I have been to a movie theater right after an evening college class. Since I was not going to stick my Laptop and radar detector in the trunk of my, cheap, Asian car I took them with me to the movie. They where in a backpack so why do you think you would know that I had one.
Just because YOU see no need to do something does not make it so for the rest of us.
This is exactly why I will vote for the Pirate Party at the next election. I don't agree with some of the stuff the Pirate Party stands for but I absolutely don't agree with anything the CDU, SPD or any of the other major political parties stand for.
Yes Acronis is great, I used to install it for our clients all the time. It was configured to backup every time when the computer was turned off (Startmenu => Shutdown). This was very reliable and I don't recall any issues with this setup. I do recall restoring entire systems from backups a few times.
1) Install new drive 2) Boot with recovery CD, select restore... wait a few minutes 3) Done
Acronis is a nice little program, well worth the money.
I just used it today to get a research paper which required me to come from the universities network OR be Google. I think they use Google Custom Search on an Intranet site so need Google to index things. The major flaw here is that they accept by user-agent and don't check if the originating IP is owned by Google. Now that I think about it, maybe they even use Referer: to validate internal network IPs.... I need to look into that:)
But mostly adult sites with images on Google image search and some smaller sites offering pdfs and other indexable content to Google.
Might be SPAM bots, they fake user-agents all the time and try to either hide as a major search engine or as a user.
I am currently working on a question/answer based CAPTCHA system + bot trap and monitor the user agents triggering my bot trap. So far, 59 falsely claimed to be Googlebot The rest claim to be some version of IE
Don't rely on anything for user-agents, I am identifying myself as Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.google.com/bot.html) right now to get around websites offering unlocked content to Google but require registrations from normal users.
I wonder how they are going to react to this potential bomb for there business model?
I don't know how BUT I do know that it will take a while considering the speed of Norton AV (consumer edition)....

But seriously he is somewhat correct BUT I don't want to see every Desktop app to turn into some MS Windows copy. I want my "advanced computer user OS" and not grandma's OS and this is why I use Linux. Linux is advanced software, it allows me to do things Windows users don't even understand or don't know it can be done. I choose my Linux distribution because it is not the "I'll hold your hand all the way" software and the less computer savvy individual can use something like *buntu.
We do need a basic plan to allow manufactures to write software for our OS without writing separate version for every distro out there but let's not turn Linux into Windows, PLEASE!
You will find plenty of testimonials if you Google for them.
So why not take it a step further and close down Slashdot.org? After all, the articles on slashdot are not written by slashdot staff but borrowed of the web so anything on here can be found via Google. Most websites also have a comment section so the trollish comments can be found not only on Slashdot.org
So get over yourself, some people here may actually try to learn from the experience of others.
