That did not work because the version shipped had an issue so it had to be patched before launch.
I ended up downloading a torrent which had the patch and was Steam virus free. The pirated version worked even better then my original version (faster). Civ5 was my first Steam game and it will be my last.
Well the difference is that if Steam loses your info you are fucked. It took them close to a week to reactivate my account.
If this happens with Minecraft I pull out my backup, copy the files over and I am good. Minecraft only needs the connection to get the initial files after you purchase the launcher.
Also Steam can turn your games off. Minecaft can not be turned off and it will continue to work even if the login servers are gone.
Well Minecraft has the option to play offline, forever. I failed to find that feature on Steam when I was locked out of Civ5 which I had purchased on DVD!
The stand alone client only requires an internet connection for the first time run and for automatic updates. After that the game can be played offline with ease.
Exactly, I would consider purchasing a console if the games where not as ridiculously priced as they are. Games are throw away products and they are priced like they are some sort of investment.
Back when the WII first came out I was very close to purchasing one but it had two issues: 1) No DVD-Video support 2) Games are too expensive (issue of all consoles)
So I stayed a PC gamer who rather drops 200 Euro on a Video card then a console with shackles.
I bought the game from GoG because they offered a DRM free download. I would not have purchased the DVD edition.
We see a lot of ATARI victims on the GoG forums crying about their games running slower then ours. The DVD version comes with built in DRM so customers can finally see the difference.
It just went through the hassle of dealing with Steam support because I was unable to access my account to play Civ V. Response time was a little over 24 hours and they call this customer service.
This was the last time I purchased a game with DRM because only pirated DRM games are customer friendly!
Check out these links for some truly cool pictures. These pictures speak to me and show me the pain and suffering of the Egyptian people. But they are also some of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen because they show people fighting to change their lives.
To me Chrome is a cluster fuck of strange software design so the FF guys lost me to Opera.
Opera is faster, more stable and it allows me to place the tabs on the side of the screen instead of the top. NoScript would be nice but I heard that something similar is in the works and until then I use site specific configuration to keep the really annoying ads at bay.
FF was nice when we had a gaping hole in the browser market but that hole has been plugged a while ago.
I really hate it when I want to watch a specific clip on YouTube and be forced to watch an ad first. The other day the ad played after I had watched the clip and I actually watched the advertisement, for the first time ever.
I understand that it is expensive to run an online service such as YouTube so I don't have a problem with ads as long as they don't get in the way.
This is not for the OP but for the German Slashdot crowd.
I have been using PSW Group at http://www.psw.net/ and I am very happy with them. Their website looked like a scam site to me but I researched them before I purchased and they are legit. I am now paying 29/year for not having to explain the private cert deal anymore.
Exactly. I am German and there is a game we play with little kids called "Teekesselchen". This is a game where the goal is to find the meaning or a word which is pronounced the same but means different things. The opponent needs to figure out the word by me describing the item without using the actual word. One Example is Boxer which can be a human fighter or a dog.
Same goes for Berliner, most Germans with a basic understanding of German/English know that JFK was not talking about a jelly doughnut.
You probably never worked in the IT industry catering to the consumer. I used to work as an onsite computer tech and our customers would gladly pay a few so that we would do the "complicated computer stuff" for them. One guy payed me $95/hr to come out to his house every few weeks just to install Windows updates. He watched me every time and knew how to do it but he still did not want to do it himself.
BestBuy is providing a service which some consumers appreciate. If you are not one of them then shop somewhere else.
But on a technical IT focused web site, one might suppose that a lessons learned exercise on the root cause of the failure of a massive website would be of interest and hopefully even an educational experience.
I can't remember ever seeing an article about a major outage from some big website where they delivered enough information that one could learn from it. So what did you learn from this article? Don't fuck up when you are an admin or maybe to create a better error page. Yes very informative and of interest to nerds, indeed.
Aside from bandwidth, a low resolution image from a game used in a review can protect you if the company that made the game doesn't like your review and tries to hit you with a DMCA violation for using their copyrighted images.
I would not support that action but I would support a suit because of defamation:-) These images are terrible, even a low quality YouTube video review has better quality.
Mhh is it me or do they have issues tracking the sessions? When I search for "maria nude pics" it works most of the time but when I keep clicking the search button I appear to get the search term and result from other users.
And once you add a good PH Meter and EC meter your price will increase. So how about you start growing something hydroponically first before opening your fucking mouth!
You complain about taxation? Try Europe, it's no fun here either.
You are not kidding, Märchensteuer (Sales Tax) is 19.0% in Germany and almost 50% of my income is gone after I pay tax and health insurance. Our problem is pretty much same as in any other western country. Corrupt politicians are lining their own pockets while telling everyone else to save and pay more taxes.
Try it yourself and be amazed. The short lifts are quicker then the additional moves cursive requires. Keep in mind that I am still young so maybe cursive is faster for old people.
I did not buy SC2 and I will not buy this one.
I bought D1 and D2 but this is the end of the road for me.
That did not work because the version shipped had an issue so it had to be patched before launch.

Stop hurting the bears and be happy that you are allowed to display your arms bare.

But it's not as shiny nor powerful!
shh don't tell my N900 or it might stop working on YouTube. It is not about how much power you have but how you use it.

We had the particles on Google.de yesterday but it did not work with all browsers. I thought that it had something to do with the IFA.

Cursive is useless. .... The only argument that people seem to have for it is the potential speed.
No they do not, writing in cursive is slower because you write more. If you want to follow someone speaking, write in block letters.
