Yeah - I can see how looking up the EB in the EB itself may be a funny thought, and the recursive motive is the same - but in order for this to be funny it would have to be something like:

    Where's this google ?
Dunno - have you googled for it ?

You can't just repeat a motive from a REAL joke and then consider what you get as a NEW joke. There is a pattern in what is generally considered funny. So to all you guys who thought you were amused: You where not ! You fell victim to your own automated reflexes, that's all (not a joke - just sarcasm).

Man... how boring am I. To the poster of the joke: I am not out to get you, people thought it was funny - so I guess it was. I am obviously just too dry today - been doing two projects simultaneously - both due finished today - none of them are.

I'm a bit miffed but also somewhat flattered that MY post is considered a 'monstrosity' - LOOK - IT'S ALIVE !! - but that's what you get when you (unlike J. Edgar Hoover) aren't being sexy I guess.

Thanks Mr. Trentblase for NOT burning up that karma bonus, MY karma must have sky-rocketed into the ground by now.

How this is funny is simply beyond me. Is it funny to say google when the topic is google or what ?

Not being obtrusive - but that joke is doing high orbit as far as I am concerned. It's not like I get it, but dont think it's funny. I plain don't get it.

So would it be funny to say 'did they read a book when they where at the library ?' or would it be funny to say 'did they call information?'.

Prolly not - it must be some insider thing with Google and computernerds (I'm a computernerd too), but it strikes me more like some pavlovian reflex that this thing is considered 'funny', than as an actual reflection on something contained in the words 'did they google for it....'

Hmmm... mebbe I'm void of humour.... nah... can't be it ;)

A bit OT - but still related...

    A couple of days ago I DL'ed the Mandrake 10.0 Community ISO's.

I need to be able to dual boot with Win2K - but the NTFS partition fills the whole harddrive (40Gb).

I have ample free space, but the Mandrake installer won't downsize, only upsize, my NTFS partition. I thought that you could resize both ways ?

Any pointers would be appreciated greatly

    TIA

Big boom in IT - lotsa jobs - lotsa new guys who don't know anything. That's my theory. Man they shoved me through a 9month computer course and I was an NT instructor ! Earning a bundle too. My only relation to computers when that started was my amiga, and I remember how utterly unimpressed I was with NT 4 in comparison.

A guy teaching us Novell told us that he had done work for a company - and that all of a sudden they wanted a server, 'a what' he said ? They meant an NT server. They didn't realise that they already had a netware server that had been running for a couple of years. They had totally forgotten it :) I bet they never forgot their NT server.

I'm with Blakesly - you have some very interesting thoughts there.

In DK the (very capitalististic and in US terms 'republic') prime-minister said that he was appalled by the conduct of a couple of heavy-corps. According to him they were going wayyy to far in their tax-juggling, so while they technically were on the right side of the law they were ethically very dubious, and they should be above that.

Of course it's a bit silly for him to say that - there is a law, and if it doesn't work you have to fix it.

I'd REALLY like to ask him how he felt about the idea that the company concept IS intrinsicly unethical - and whether it was time to disband corps in DK :D

And then because Macs ships with'em and app makers program for them, all of a sudden 3 buttons mice will be the standard on Macs. We all know what that will lead too ! It will end up in all Mac users using three-button mice.. and eh... then... eh... then they won't be using 1-button mice any longer !!!!
