The Army switched out all M60's for M240's about 8 or 9 years ago.
Surprisingly, here in Iraq I've actually seen a few humvees with M60's mounted on their turrets. Though I haven't gotten to play with one myself, this all came about because they just don't have enough 240's to go around with the replacement of the M249. The 5.56mm ammo just doesn't have the punch that the 7.62 puts forward. Take away all of the 249's that were acting as the only crew-served weapon and that's a LOT of gaps to fill...hence the 60 is back in action (temporarily).
Other than the blatant superiority of the M240 over the M60, the M249 has almost identical operation since it is in fact basedon the M240's design. This way soldiers unfamiliar with one weapon can easily pick it up by comparing what they know of the other. I found that the easiest way to learn the M240B when I only knew of the M249's parts and functions.
It's just like the salesman's way of speaking that makes things sound better.
The car salesman will highball you and bring it down to the price he actually intends to make a decent profit at (the ones that aren't getting buku financing at a 20%+ interest that is)
I've been a salesman for a short time myself. Try to get someone to purchase an item for "Eight Hundred Six Dollars", I guarantee they'll be more likely to buy it at just "Eight-Oh-Six".
I'm not sure, but that's about the last time I've played it myself. Once I left Korea I stopped playing it, none of my buddies were on at the same I was...and now I'm in Iraq so I couldn't tell you if I wanted to.
But don't they use the "red X" to signify that someone has died, by placing it over their portrait? That's pretty universal in video games too.
Wait, then Family Feud can sue the video game industry for using that!
We could put disemboweled torsos...because that's what bullets do.
And then on the cases for mortars and artillery, we could stencil on a soldier sleeping in his bunk because he's so used to the explosions that he just stays in bed rather than running for cover.
We have been using the Red Cross as a medical/emergency symbol since World War I. Possibly slightly before then, but that is the earliest widespread usage that i know of. Just FYI:)
This is how Bruce Springsteen's fame came about. He was pushed heavily and given false ratings by his record company (NBC iirc)...he was made popular because he essentially won a bet.
Having lived in Korea, I personally know that there are quite a few popular MMOs out there. Some of the most popular ones are not graphically pretty, in mostly 2D like an old Final Fantasy title.
This is the same country that has a TV channel devoted entirely to StarCraft. Gotta love it...that and the soju:D
I hardly believe this is absolute.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If a few companies keep spouting out their Cookie Cutter MMO's then all we'll get is the same regurgitated game over and over. There will simply be a demand for other things that companies like SOE and NCSoft will not be willing to risk developing, as well as games which will be funded purely by donations (Knight Online for example http://www.knight-online.com.my/).
It's not impossible to compete with the MMO giants, but it will be difficult.
Yeah SWG and EQ2 left me kind of jaded with the whole MMO genre. I've gotten more out of MUDs than anything else, and those can host a lot of people at once.
I might have to take a look into the free trial, I almost did right before I deployed here to Iraq, but I figured if I wanted to check it out I would save it for when I get back.
Thanks for the update. I didn't know about all of that stuff, as I'd only briefly looked over how the game is before deciding not to engross myself in another venture.
Do they mean 23000+ people on one server? I know there were more people than that on at one time during the height of Diablo II, for example. I'm not sure how that game or others are faring now, but I guess it's gotta be ignoring multiple servered games.
Good insight. Attention to detail cannot afford to be ignored, and while I think this would make the purely sanitary situation better there is still the fact that hair, dirt, fecal matter, etc. would need to be cleaned up and disposed of properly.
Aesthetics is one of the biggest things in the military, if it looks good and smells good, it probably is good. An inspecting Sergeant or Officer comes in and smells a clean latrine and automatically has cleanliness in his brain...no doubt the same goes for supervisors in the civilian world who have to make sure that the Janitors are doing their jobs properly.
The Army needs to invest in stuff like this. But don't put it in Basic Combat Training barracks, those scrubs need to keep busy, and the Drill Sergeants need to have one more reason to smoke the life out of them:D

Happy Birthday Zelda, and Link, and all of those characters that kick so much butt.
:D
Now how about releasing a definitive date for the sale of Twilight Princess, eh Nintendo?
So I suppose my patent for the flux capacitor will be expected to come with a working model?

Just look at some of the life that grows in a college student's dirty laundry pile. Scary.
You never know what situations you might create life in.
After all, knowledge is power. China wouldn't want the citizens of the "People's Republic" to have the power, would they?

Soul, like decapitating giants with bladed chains kinda soul.
:D
Violence is golden

It's OK, we can just drop a few health packs on the dead game devs and revive them.
Good game.

Now they just won't be able to recognize the health packs when they see them :D

:P
The Boss, my ass.
Sorry if you like his music, but it's the truth
A high school teenager wants to stop playing video games so much, go to a party, and get laid?
Who would've guessed?!

Just like the world is flat and there will never be any use for more than 512 KB of RAM?
:)
It might not be in my day, but I'll wait and see
So that means by now, perhaps my level 24 Swashbuckler in EQ2 would be maxed out. I haven't played that one since a month after its release.
"they should be weighed by management (who shouldn't be idiots)"
And there lies the problem.
Well the only way we're going to stop killing each other is to start killing something else - together.
It's the dead-honest truth and it is truest to human nature. History repeats itself in general, but the precise details always vary.
