Way to miss the entire point of consoles. The fixed platform is what makes consoles as powerful as they are. Every developer knows that every copy of their product will run on the platform because every unit is the same. There is no need to program in fallback code to make the product run on video cards that don't support all of the whiz-bang grapics, or to deal with systems at the bottom edge of working.
Look at the GRand Theft Auto games. Look at what kind of PC you need to get those to run and then look at the PS2. In PC standards the PS2 is a laughable pile of crap. But it runs games that need significantly more power tio run on the PC. Why? Because the hardware is fixed and programmers can write to the metal.
Kids do better in the traditional nuclear family than in non-traditional setups.
This is not true at all. Children actually do better when raised in extended families: families that include the active participation of grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc... living in close proximity. These additional family members take a lot of the burden off of the parents, especially in the early years and provide a wealth of expirience to help said parents deal with problems that come up.
The "mother, father, 2.5 kids and the dog" traditional family is anything but traditional and is the product of post-WWII America. A short-lived Traditional America where white men were in charge, the women stayed at home, children were the property of their parents, those pesky minorities knew their place, those homos stayed in the closet or were beaten to death and everyone was a propper God-fearing Christian. An America that never was.
Gay/Straight matters to those who are concerned about kids's welfare.
How? What does it matter if someone is gay or straight? If they are allowed to live normal lives and are happy then their orientation is of no matter. I do know that the "for the children's sake" is an argument frequently used to stifle ideas offensive to conservatives who consider everything outside their narrow point of view to be evil.
Do actually know any gay people? Most will tell you that they knew from as far back as they could remember that they were different. It may not be genetic, but it is something you are born with. It's not something you learned at band camp.
Sure, some people experiment when they are young, but that's not being gay.
There is not "absolutely, 100% safe from everyone" not safe and then there is "dropped the soap in the prison shower" not safe. While even Linux and Mac OS X fall into the first, Windows falls into the second. Windows is unsafe due to the lack of planning or safety concerns of the programmers. Programmers told by the marketting department to spend their time on features above all other things.
I can't speak for Linux users as I am not one, but I can speak for some Mac users. We don't ignore the bugs, hacks and patches out there. I keep my system fully patched at all times, just as I dio my Windows boxes. The difference here is that my Mac has never had a spyware infestation, nor a virus, nor any of the other intrusive attacks that my Windows machine has suffered through. And I'm careful with my Windows machine.
Windows has gotten safer as MS has finally deigned to pay attention to safety concerns. But a fresh Windows install is as unsafe as a child molester in a maximum security prison. A significant number of patches and extra utilities need to be installed, many of them only practically available from the Internet, before it is reasonably safe to connect that computer to the Internet. This is not true for Linux and OS X bioxes.
I'll tell you why I got involved with consoles: Upgrade hell. I have a boatload of games on perfectly good media that I can't play anymore because my computer no longer supports whatever odd hardware requirements that game had. Every upgrade I've done has killed some of my games. Soundcards, video cards, motherboards, processors, RAM (yes, Virginia, having more than the recomended amount of RAM has killed some of my games), Windows service packs, etc....
And I'm sick to death of it.
My copy of Tomb Raider for the PC doesn't run on anything I own. My copy for my Playstation still runs just fine. The same can be said for every other Playstation, Dreamcast, and XBox game I own. As long as the console itself works and the media isn't damaged the games keep working.
Add to that the fact that I know that the game will work out of the box. I don't have to worry about downloading a driver update that kills other games, nor that my video card is one generation too old or some other BS.
I remember the days of farting around with memory configs and creating boot floppies to get various games running under DOS and I don't miss those days at all.

What a complete load of codswallop. You obviously have no clue as to what death is. Change does not equal death. Death is the body failing, not the body changing. You do not die every picosecond as your body undergoes the complex chemical reactions needed to *gasp* maintain life.
Consciousness is more complex than just a chain of memories. It is so complex that we are barely beginning to understand it at all.
One small problem, Chuckles: While the atoms that make up your body are replaced every seven years, they are not all replaced at the same time. Life is still going on while they cycle in and out of you. The conglomeration of organs that is you is still intact. Making a copy of your mind leaves the old one behind. And when that one dies, you are dead. Dead. Dead. Dead.
If you like drek, sure, it's been a good run. The problem is that most of Trek has been garbage. - First 2 years of Next Gen - Unwatchable crap. - Voyager - seven years of absolute garbage - Enterprise - utter and complete bilge
Seasons 3 - 7 of Next Gen were good, with a smattering of truley inspired shows and a solid season (I think it was 6) that was some of the best post TOS shows made.
Deep Space Nine was the only series since TOS to land on its feet with good shows and only started to get old durring the last year when they were trying to wrap up too many loose ends too quickly.
Otherwise, it's been a moldering crapfest of badly written cliches, horrid dialog (sp?) and plots so feeble you could sneeze through them.
And speaking of Farpoint, that has to be one of the most painful TV experiences of my life. Two hours of heavy-handed tripe. Q was the only thing in that episode worth watching and he couldn't even save it. And the whole golly-gee factor made me sick. "You've never been on a Galaxy class Starsip before." *SHUDDER*
She has. She speaks for her masters. When the RIAA was her master she spoke for them. It would appear that Microsoft is her new master and she now speaks for them. Note that ALL of her complaints revolve around the iPod not being able to play WMA files.
You are a terrified, easily manipulated idiot. There is no nice way to put it.
How wil this stop a hijacking? None of the previous group used false ID. And neither will the next group.
You obviously have no idea of how they were able to crash those planes and why it won't happen again. The reason they succeeded was because in the entire histiory of domestic hijacking the best way ti survive was to sit down and shut up. The hijackers wanted money, travel out of the country, the freedom of a comrade, or some other goal that only power outside of the plane could grant them. The passangers were hostages and the plane was a convenient container to keep them in. The 9/11 hijackers played a completelt new set of rules. The passangers meant nothing to them. They wanted the aircraft.
Do you get that? The rules changed and only the hijackers knew it. But now everyone knows. The next time someone tries to hijack a plane they are going to get the shit kicked out of them by people who don't want to die. Just look at what happened to the "shoe bomber".
But this begs the question: "how much of your privacy are you willing tio give away?" What will you give away when terrorists find a different way to attack us? And what about the attacks after that? At what point do you declare that you've had enough?
The brutal truth is that there is no way to stop terrorists completely. If they really want to hurt us they will. They will find ways to attack us that we haven't thought to defend against.
I don't hate Lucal because it's cool. I hate him because he produces garbage. I hate him because he spouts off about artistic integridty while whoring out Yoda to sell potatio chips, Darth Vader to sell M&Ms and anyone else he thinks he can lisence to sell us crap we don't need. I hate him because he takes talented actors and reduces their performances to a wooden mockery of their skills. I hate him because he's such a control freak that he uses copmputers to digitally manage the number of times characters in his movies blink. I hate him because he uses special effects to mask a complete lack of story telling skills.
Why would I bother? I already know what happens. Lucas told me back in 1978. Why should i piss away money on a movie I'm probably going to disklike? Should I keep eating the last of a loaf of moldy bread just to finish it off? Should I go ahead and cut my finger completely off just to finish off me accidently slicing into my hand while trying to split a bagel for the toaster?
TOS was NOT a bad show. In its day it was pretty damned amazing. It covered topics no one else would or could touch. The problem, or course, is that it did not age well. Society has changed so deeply and completely that much of TOS is no longer relevant. TV has changed so deeply that TOS looks dated and silly. That and they had a budget lower than the original Mission: Impossible.
ST:TNG was absolute crap for the first two years and would have died on teh vine if it had not had "Star Trek" in its name. By season three it was watchable and got quite good for a few years.
The last ten years of Trek, Voyager and Enterprise, deserve to be canceled as they are absolute crap,
And the bugs will still be there, the missing functionality will still be missing, many of us won't upgrade to that version, and some of us will rip that OS out by the roots and install that last version that actually worked.
As long as it is voluntary (sp?) I'm fine with it. Parents should have the right to take charge of what their rotten little bastards are up to. If it's mandated that all computers have this then I'm against it. But, I don't have any knee-biters in my household.
You can no more choose to engage in a homosexual relationship than a heterosexual can chioose to engage in a heterosexual relationship. You can only choose to have a relationship or not.
You can choose to be gay or not? Really? You should tell that to my step-father who married my mother back in 1963 in a desperate attempt to not be gay. He figured that if he married a woman he loved and had a family (and there I was five days from being born) then he could be straight and would no longer have to deal with the trauma of being gay. From all accounts he and my mother had a good marriage, happy home life, good sex life, etc... The only fly in the ointment was that no matter how hard he tried he could not stop being emotionally and sexually attracted to men. After two years they both realized it wasn't working out and they went their seperate ways.
In my 41 years on this planet I've met a lot of homosexuals and been friends with a great number of them. I've known a few that didn't want to be gay, who fought it as hard as my step-father did. And they all failed at it. No matter what they did, no matter how hard they begged Jesus to make them straight, nothing worked. They stayed gay.
"But what about those chicks who make out with each-other and then screw their boyfriends silly?" I hear you ask. Those girls are not lesbians. They are not even bisexual. They are straight girls engaging in a little homosexual behavior in order to spice up their sex lives with their boyfriends. They are not emotionally attratced to other girls. It's just a goof for them.
And there lies the rub and the phalacy of your post. There is a big difference between having sex with someone of the same gender and being a homosexual. Just as there is in masturbating to a picture of a porn star and cheating on your husband/wife/partner/etc... If you can't see that then you have no idea what homosexuality really is.

The replica would not know unless it was told. But I would still be dead. Immortality this isn't.
to anyone that didn't see that coming a mile away.
I thought Curse Of The Were-Rabbit was a feature-length film. According to IMDB.COM it's 94 minutes. That's quite the long short.
