You can easily ignore race and sex as a factor and still explain why minorities would go to Obama instead of Clinton. Obama hasn't been caught in blatant lies. Obama hasn't tried to change the rules in the middle of the game. Obama has a history of working with people in the inner city and is well aware of the problems they face. Injecting bigotry into this seems to be moreso a projection of your own psyche rather than a neutral analysis.

What happens when you cool helium to 1.6K? It becomes a superfluid. Inside of this continuous set of rules determining the behavior of matter there is a threshold, which when passed at a discrete value changes behavior radically. Or with a black hole, there is a discrete point at which there is enough mass together to create a unique (yeah I know, big universe so this word isn't exceptionally accurate) and awesome display that we understand to be a singularity. Is it irrational to believe that there is such an equivalent threshold for the development of AI or nanotech in which it creates a positive feedback loop that radically alters the behavior of the universe around us?

Although the populations of the middle east in general are not actively engaged in violence against the west, their sentiment is very hostile in general. Their anger and hostility existed BEFORE violence against the west began, we just ignored it. So now that they are a danger, instead of addressing the reasons for their hostility we are instead trying to address the symptoms of it which is extremist violence.

But your views on the world are empirically wrong if you think the US is an innocent victim of the events that have befallen it. I'm proud to uphold the ideals America espouses. However, you are sorely mistaken if you believe that America itself has been following these ideals. Simply view the imperialistic history of the US leading as far back as our involvement in the Spanish American war. Don't ignore the facts because of your pride, and the good things we've done despite these maladies do not excuse our behavior just as the reasons for terroristic behavior do not excuse their actions.
