I expect that one to tank hardcore. Why is rockstar ruining their already bad image by producing a stupid looking game. Sure they will catch flak for pretty much any game they produce because of the style they do, but this is just asking for trouble without any real benefit, this game will be a loser for sure.
They need to go after these assholes for fraud and computer crimes. They are already breaking dozens of laws to get the spam to you in the first place. Why do they need aspam law? It is just another law on the books, that is much weaker than nailing them for 2,000,000 counts of fraud, and unauthorized use of computer systems (the zombies etc). They would need a calculator to figure out the time. It would only take a couple of cases where the spammer went to prison for 10 sentances of 5 years to be served consecutively. The rest of the spammers that think it isnt a big deal would quickly change their minds. Sieze absolutely everything they own also.
In all honesty, most laptops mfgs, if not all have laptops with Intel graphics chips. Many of those laptops offer the upgrade for an nvidia or ati, but many of the baseline configurations for a particular model.
This is absolutely perfect for me because I finally found real people (not gamers) chiming in about the performance of these chips, and for what I want to do, XGL etc, they work just great. I have been looking at laptops but want to keep a reasonable weight and price. I was thinking i needed to go nvidia for decent XGL performance, which I have found out to be untrue.
I dont play games, I dont care about game performance, I want good 3d for xgl and beyond, which seems like intel is providing with real nice drivers too !
Currently I am looking at a dell, but HP, gateway, ibm all have Intel 3d chip offerings.
I dont always have faith in the competancy of the government, but I do think they use a technique a bit more sophisticated than "hey this has a skull and cross bone on it, it must be for a bomb"
They have shown raids of bomb making facilities that are complete homebrew, they are pretty unmistakable rigs.
The difficulty I was refering to was, they made the chemicals and have cleaned up, disposed of and concealed the stuff ready to go. That gets difficult, now they have to chemically analyze everything...and in many cases, several times.
Businesses do, but do home users give a crap if they are using some codec legally? They dont know what a codec is, if you told them, "to get movies to play, I had to install something and it is against the license" they will be like "I dont care"
Hell, just watching videos on a windows machine you are probably breaking the license for the codec anyways so who cares.

Explosives take a while to check. Especially if you are attempting to check every single liquid in an apartment for instance. Think of the hundreds of items that would need to be checked in your home.

Now you are correct no one would try now, but without the new security enforcement + the massive coverage, it is very possible someone would still give it a shot. Also they are not claiming they ABSOLUTELY foiled the plot, maybe the terrorists were gonna try some other method that may not be completely known which could be quite powerful from their perspective. "Even with all the security we still managed to attack..." Look at some of the major terrorist plans, you can stop part of it, or you can stop ALL of it, and that is the most difficult. If part of the people were gonna use xyz explosives disguised in one form, and the other was using explosives disguised as a pair of sunglasses, the plan could quite easily go ahead.
It does seem like the govts are going full disclosure, particularly in the banned items and what is now gonna have to be in the cargo hold, because you cant keep those a secret and still be effective.
So hopefully they manage to get everyone that was going to be involved.

The theater makes someone happy, and more importantly does not negatively impact other people. The SUV does cause real problems for others, the waste of food since it is just wasted should be handed over to people that need it etc.

Ubuntu is a far better desktop than XP will ever EVER be. Because it lets you do some things and not everything. People dont need to be able to do every task a pc is capable of because they mess things up by doing so.
Your average person needs restrictions and limits and a lack of options and the PC will run just fine for years.
The average person doesnt even play games on their computer...they do IM, email, web, a little photo thing, and maybe maybe if they are a student type a paper. That is 90% of the general population...XP does all that and a billion other things very poorly.
Make a pc that is an appliance not a general purpose "I can do everything but i have no reason, but im going to anyways platform"

I stopped bothering to get a new computer because my older system works well for Ubuntu, and is still a decent system to use. I browse the web, I play music, I watch videos, I email/IM. That is it, that also sums up most of the population in their system needs. I treat it as an appliance, it does those things, it does them well and that is it.

Definatly, I bought a GC a little while ago and have been buying games on eBay for at most 20 bucks for a new game (so no worse than Best Buy, but most of the times with shipping it is about 10 dollars, new and used)
The graphics are quite good, the games are fun and I can just turn it on and use it, turn it off and no worries about drivers, or patches or whatever when I buy a new game. Plus I only run ubuntu on my computer, so I dont want to bother installing windows (or using cedega etc)

I dont personally play FPS, I find them boring. RTS on the other hand, the console cant compete unfortantely so that is a drawback
back in the days before neon light case mods and such. Then I bought a console. It was simply easier to have a console and be able to buy any game for that system and have it work well.
No more upgrading ram, or video cards or whatever to play the latest. One $200 console and games that generally cost the same amount. Console gaming is a far better experience for me, less hassles, less cost etc.
Piracy doesnt help, particularly if it is widespread as pointed out in the article, but I think a lot of people are going to consoles because A: they cant spend every dime they have on upgrading their computer systems constantly. B: console gaming is a good experience, good graphics, good gameplay etc.
Granted Sony is trying to take the whole concept of spending every dime you have to the console arena but that wont work too well.
Sure, I donwloaded a lot of games when I was younger, and bought a lot too. I probably wouldnt have bothered downloading if I could go rent a game, the full game like blockbuster etc offer with console games. I can spend a few days playing it, either beat it, or decide to buy it because it has replayability.
Demos are okay, but they are rather limited and so not as much fun to check a game out.
Consoles just offer a LOT more than PC gaming and I think that fact is showing with the success of the xbox and ps2 and now the new consoles. People want to play games, not work on upgrading their system to play the newest game.

And the City of Las Vegas /State already has a law against that, it has been not enforced, but it is a perfectly legit law.

From what I have been seeing, Integrated grahpics with a proper driver are just great for most things, including XGL.
If you play games, well then they are not fine. But gamers are such a minority I dont their attitude should destroy a sensible purchase.

personally i run 2 terabytes a month for $120
