Given the fact the Wii isn't trying to make a small super-computer, they're likely to have a better fail rate than other systems who try to pack in the 'cutting edge' technology. Nintendo's controllers pretty 'cutting edge' in that regard, but it's a hell of a lot easier to buy a new controller than a new system since the later will likely be sold-out for a while at launch.
As long the the main unit works, all is good. There is, after all, more than just the motion-sensing, that make the Wii exciting, though motion-sensors are the highest 'buzz' feature. Graphics will still be better, you can still download NES, SNES, N64 games, play games via Wi-Fi, play the latest fun and quality game franchises like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, et al. with the 'standard' controller.
Ha! Me too! I saw the PS3 email and went over to GameStop and said, hey, you guys taking Wii pre's yet? No? Bastards! Oh, here's $5 I'd like to reserve another Wii game. =P
I think they did a fantastic job at recreating the songs. Sure, it's not the hardest to tell the difference, but at some points, you do scratch your head.
I think maybe the explined a little bit of the reason behind this on the Games 'bonus' videos?
Sure, sure, maybe they're one of the most over-rated bands lately (given their last 3+ albums), but why isn't Metallica on this list? Did Lars reject the idea of putting their music on a game due to his 'copyright' stance?
I really was hoping to see Master of Puppets, Orion, One, Call of Kuthul(sp?), Ride the Lighting, 4 Horseman, or basically any song off Master of Puppets, Ride the Lighting, And Justice for All, or Kill them All. As long as it wasn't Enter Sandman.
'm still very happy with this list and I'm going to rock out with this new 'album' of GH2, with tons of great tunes.
By electing this President and this Congress, you red-staters have made us in New York City more vulnerable, not less, to terrorism.
Last I checked the U.S. has not had a terrorist attack since 9/11 within our country. Maybe you missed the memo but it's not due to the 'terrorists' stopping.
I only pity you because you cannot see past the smoke and mirrors to realize 9/11 effected more than just you, your family, and your state.
I live in a blue state, voted for Gore and Kerry, and I have 0 respect for people who bash Bush. Not because I belive he's a good president, but because liberals have made "Bush Bashing" it's own sport. This phenominom of hatred towards one person, whether his policies have been good or bad, have instilled a seed of hatred that is unfathomable to the point that you turn against logic and reason. Logic such as saying... "Our country is less secure" while the facts are we haven't been attacked since, within our country. Any person who thinks Bush has made our country "less secure" as the same coo-coo-birds who think he can control gas prices. Lease you forget, our country has many organizations that insure our safety, regards of their political affiliation.
Extremes are never good, it doesn't matter if it's Republican, Democrate, or other. It's just I see far more Extreme liberal talk than conservative. It's people like you who dont' want to have an honest debate and educate voters on the pro's and con's of policies. All you screem through the mass media is FUD. Ironically so, given extreme liberals claim it's the Republican agenda who's using FUD to gain votes.
Bah, I wonder why I waist my time writting, but realize it's not for convincing the original post, but to inform those that are still uncertain as to what to believe.

The only reason Nintendo has survived is that Nintendo has an excellent track record with producing high quality games...
Actually, this isn't true. While I do agree with your first statement that there's a whole generation (my generation or parents of my generation, 1979 baby!) who grew up with Nintendo and uses or used "Nintendo" interchangably with "video games".
Anyway, back to point. Nintendo's golden age, the '80's, was the Microsoft of the game industry. They strong armed retailers and forced the market to stay in a Monopolistic way. That's why when Sega fought Nintendo for power, they became the 'cool' Linux like company to gamers. Nintendo also created what's called 'the seal of approval' that they stamped on their games (you might remember that gold filed star on your old NES games). Sure, once upon a time this 'seal' was to meet 'quality' standards, but really, it just became the "we paid Nintendo the right amount of license fees". Soon, the NES was pumping out crap after crap, much the same way the PSOne did and to some degree the PS2. Why? Because it was a "if you build it, they will come" mentality. Just making a NES game almost gaurenteed profit for your company due to the high installation base of not just gamers but rental stores who purcahsed copies (think of all the blockbuster stores and mom and pop rental stores!)
Now, fast forward to the Playstation dynasty. Nintendo is being a hard-ass and Sony is breaking into the market and offering low cost licenses. Companies jump ship to Sony. Sony's installation base goes up and after tossing enough darts at the board, they tend to hit a few key titles that make the system shine (Resident Evil, Twisted Metal, etc). Now, Sony has the installation base and the market and keep costs down for production. 3rd Party companies can almost guarentee profits from a game... except not as much as the cost of production is climbing faster than profits and sales.
Enter the GameCube / PS2 era. GameCube gets flack for it's 'less than powerful' system, and looses the 'carry-over' from the previous generation (N64/PSOne). It's also given the bad PR of being 'too kiddy'. The gaming generation is maturing and wants more 'real' violence, blood and gore. Sony delivers while Nintendo stays 'family friendly'. 3rd party support wans for Nintendo. It doesn't have it's massive installation base. Only 'sure fire' games can be made because there's much less of a chance of making a profit. This causes only 'quality' titles to appear on the GCube, such as Metroid, Zelda, Mario(et.al), and the rare Resident Evil 4.
You see, in reality, Nintendo and Sony still find similar 'quality' titles for their systems, however, only the biggest market share system will have endless crappy games. Of course, this is also changing due to skyrocketing development costs, meaning it's heading towards the 'only quality titles' area as you HAVE to sell enough to turn a profit.
Nintendo is drawing 3rd party support, NOT just for it's 'revolutionary' controller, but because development costs are also predicted to be less. I also believe they proved to the industry that "powerful" does not make "better", by example of Resident Evil 4, which is one of the best games I've played and looked fantastic on the GameCube. I also belive the who 'better graphics' push is tappering off to a ceiling limit. Gamers are quite satisfied with the animation ability of consoles today. Such much, that if we make games any more realistic but don't allow you to slap on a VR helmet and actaully 'walk' around the virtual world, they won't be satisfied. This is why Nintendo is moving into the motion sensor controller. Technology is fantastic when it comes to graphics. Hell, there's basketball games out there that are almost like watching a real game. But you still don't feel like you're "playing" the game.
Maybe games don't want to 'simulate' basketball, because they can go outside or to the gym for the real thing, but t
There are plenty of reasons for people, even aged 35+, to interact with other people in a real or virtual community, that _don't_ involve looking for 13 year olds to fuck. Like, you know, looking for other 35+ people to fuck
There, fixed your statement. =P
The MySpaces age increase is probably largely due to the fact that it's now used by every Tom, Dick, and Harry marketing person to advertise their new movie, product, or music. Though, I don't doubt some is due to the attraction of more sick individuals to the site as it's been (indirectly) promoted in the media (by reporting how easy it is and how it's done) as an easy outlet to fullfil their disgusting needs.
Poor conservatives. If only you had the House.. Or the Senate.. Or the Judiciary... Or the Presidency...
Poor little conservatives, always beaten down by the brutal media.
*sniffle*
Yes, because we all know that Americans turn on their TV to watch a Senate hearing over the 10'o clock news. It's not like the greatest way to run for office it to spend millions of dollars on TV ads that do nothing but bash the compitition.
It wouldn't be hard to argue that the control of media is far more important than the control of government offices. In America, it's the court of public opinion that's the true winner. Afterall, that's what a democracy is designed for.
The Republicans control everything for no other reason than the fact that Americans simply have their own value and while it's nearly impossible to pick the best of 'two evils', we've obviously picked the one we've felt was 'less evil'. Of course, despite the fact I've voted against Bush in both elections, I still approve less of Democratic tactics and corruption and constant American bashing because of their spitful hatred of simply one man. Talk about babies. Playing too many MMO's I can only say "Cry More Noobs!".
The Hugo Chavez critisize Bush and Democrats cry 'foal', dispite the fact it's the same regurgitated crap they've been saying for 6 years. Why would that be now?
1) If you want to play new PSP games, they require you to update your PSP OS to the latest version. So, don't expect to be able to play anything that's "X.X and earlier" if you buy and play new PSP games.
2) PSP games are pretty limited. So, maybe you won't have much need to upgrade. =)
I've used my PSP more for a MP3 player than game or movie player. It's such a beautiful piece of hardware but Sony has just driven any sport of the system into the ground. They really need to get off their "We're Sony, we demand a premium price!" kick. If they sold UMD movies for $10, maybe the UMD business would be thriving more, exciting more people to buy the PSP, which will encourge more 3rd party support for games as there's a greater user base and better chance of selling more games.
I'd argue that Green Eggs and Ham was written by one very mature and intelligent adult and has been read by kids more mature than most adults I've communicated with on MMO's like WoW.
It's always a beef with me to those people who say "Zelda: The Wind Waker"(Z:WW) was too "Kiddy". Being 27 and playing and enjoying everything from (in my history of gaming) Mortal Kombat, GTA, all Zelda's, Doom's, Half-Life(CS, DoD, etc), Warcraft(I,II,III, WoW), Silent Hill, Resident Evil, etc... I have to say not only was Z:WW a fun game to play that added many features (despire the often annoying tedum of long boat rides) but it was by far one of the best 'looking' games out there.
If most games put as much thought into 'style' of a game, I wouldn't dought they'd sell more titles or recieve better game scores. The level of animation detail in Z:WW is just extraordinary. It's not surprising though, you have to understand these concepts before you can truely appreciate them. Those who can critisize Z:WW for it's artistic style probably cannot understand why the Louvre hangs 'ugly' paintings instead of 'realistic' computer generated images.
(I can't believe I read this many comments, but here goes my 2cents)
I used to eBay... oh, 6-7 years ago. I bought a significant set of original Ninja Turtle action figures. Something I use to love when I was 7-8 years old. Now, I wanted to put these toys on the shelf and use them for drawing inspiration of imagination. It all worked well. Except, I forgot to bid on the 'technodrome' vehicle (something I always wanted but family was too poor to buy it).
Then, I tried to buy ink jet print ink online. Once I found a ligitimate auction and it worked well. 2nd time I found an even cheaper auction. I had emailed the seller, and he was responsive. Soon as I sent him his money order, no more contact, no delievery of product, nothing. Bye bye $40. So, that was the last time I eBayed. I've browsed for interesting itmes from time to time out of interest, but I've never had desire to buy from eBay. It left a very sour taste in my mouth.
Now, I use Amazon market place. I've been buying endless computer books from there for 50-90% off. $50-60 book for as little as $8. Plus, all transactions go through Amazon, which I trust. I've ordered probably 30 used items now, books and DVD's and I've always received them in a fast an efficent manner. Not one problem. If Amazon is more expensive, fine, it's still significantly cheaper than new, and it's been a much better experiance.
I'll never turn to eBay again. And it's more than just an 'idol' threat. I just have no interest in that place as I more than well know (from other friends and family who've tried it since) it's just a big scam-fest. There's that diamond in the rough, but all it takes is that one apple to spoil the whole bunch.
...I do not expect the price of gas to go below $2.50USD here again (...I think the oil companies have basically seen that,...for a lot of people there simply is no alternative and so they will pay that much or more...
Actually, I disagree with you here. Unless there's price fixing or collusion, with a gas surplus you'll see compition take place. One gas station will lower it's price and everyone will flock there, forcing the other station to do the same. Also gas prices are partial dependent on the price of barrels of oil, which we know. If barrels of oil drop in price but gas doesn't, it would be a big red flag for investigation into price fixing. So, no, prices will drop if surplus exploded... only surplus won't likely explode. Not with the current state of affairs in politics for most countries that supply oil to the US. As you can see from this article even $30 in free gas (that's 10 gallons) is enough to make people wait for hours on end.
for a lot of people there simply is no alternative
I completely agree with your main point. For one, I've lived in London for a year and my fiancee is French, where I've visted France many times now who has worked for a train company. I know and have used the European mass transit system quite a bit. And it is a better system, but it is not because the cities are closer together that makes it easier to have mass transite. You can thank the automobile industry for our current state of affairs.
Why? Think about it for a second? During the America Civil war, countless rail lines where being laid. Shortly afterwards the immense "trans-continental rail-road' was finished and heralded as a new achievement. Rail/Trains where quite popular then and it only appears to be getting better. Until the Automobiles started to be mass produced and affordable. Automobile industries started to buy up the trolly, tram, and train companies and then shut them down. Why? So people would buy more cars. The automobile industry properly lobbied all the white house endlessly to build roads for their cars to travel on. Long story short... we now have millions of miles of roads and rail lines that are being abandonded because of lack of use and increase of costs.
I think about this all the time while I'm driving down the interstate or highway... "Where could we put rail lines?". I would love to move back to the UK/Europe and I'll be working on that in the future. I lived in an area that had a 5 min walk to up to 3 different rail stations (not always that common). Otherwise, I could catch a bus at 5 different locations to get to where I wanted to go. I wouldn't need a car. I could get a train to another country for vacation or to the airport for longer distance travel. I loved the cities in Germany, like Frieburg, that had the trolly system that could take you downtown and back. I think the Paris Metro(subway) sucks (compared to the London Tube) but it does what it's suppose to do.
The only sad thing is to see how much the British still loved to drive cars. I guess I can't blame them. I enjoy driving my cars as well, and there are different benefits and draw backs to driving vs taking the train (canceled trains, the commuter rush, break downs, etc).
It's too bad to have high pass prices, however, if this finally kicks some people in the nuts hard enough, maybe we can move away from this SUV culture that I've never agreed with. SUV's have been a bigger curse than a gift. They're not just for a status symble, they're also for the insecure and crappy driver. There's a lot of SUV's purchased because people feel 'safer' in them. As mentioned by many people in this comments section, an SUV hitting a car will often destory the car. So, what happens? People buy SUVs because they value their life more than others. They're not thinking "hey, if I cause an accident, at least I won't die." Or maybe you will
Anyhoo... I'm actually not sure if I've ever actually gone to MySpace before. I have no interest in the MySpace/FaceBook kind of sites. I don't know. I just don't want to use them. Heck, and I'm a website programmer as my profession. Though, I'm surprised they don't have some of these simple features.
Firewall with Harrison Ford, which has never really peaked my interest to see yet, is listed at $19.99. I guess the 'future' of DVD buying hasn't arrived, as CinemaNow.com states on their homepage. You can get this film from Amazon for

I've owned this book for a few months now.
It's a good book to get started with PHP Security ideas. It has a lot of theory and explains a lot of issues. However, I don't like the examples or how the book uses the examples.
Often times I would have like to see a larger scale project outline shown, instead of just the theory. But, it was worth the purchase.

They're not thinking "hey, if I cause an accident, at least I won't die." Or maybe you will
He has that TV show, I think...
Everyone Loves Romero!
Woohoo, Wisconsin FTW!
Anyhoo... I'm actually not sure if I've ever actually gone to MySpace before. I have no interest in the MySpace/FaceBook kind of sites. I don't know. I just don't want to use them. Heck, and I'm a website programmer as my profession. Though, I'm surprised they don't have some of these simple features.
No joke
Firewall with Harrison Ford, which has never really peaked my interest to see yet, is listed at $19.99. I guess the 'future' of DVD buying hasn't arrived, as CinemaNow.com states on their homepage. You can get this film from Amazon for
For a second there... I thought they might actually be competitive.
