The New Yorker is mainly on the railroad budget and you will have to go elsewhere to find dirt on the PLA's progress/threat.

    Smelly? They screen out the ones smelly. Are all homeless smelly? A lot of them use public bathrooms. Also you can stay downwind of them.

    Some might trade, but the homeless person will find it hard to escape. Homeless folks are limited to where to escape. Police love to improve their arrest record.

    Most digital viewfinders can see infrared signals. Flash a tv remote towards a viewing camera and you can see light flashing at you from the remote.

    It depends on whether or not the natural gas bearing material is lower than the water table or not. Fracking involves injection of liquids (compounds that are not usually identified) below the water table with other layers of material that supposedly prevents "ducting" or diffusion of bad compounds into the water table. However a "leaking" tube used for injection can cause contamination of the water table.

    Lithium AA batteries run from $10 to $5 a pair. YMMV. NiMh AA are still developing. I have to recharge mine every two weeks. The older ones used to go down even though in dormant stage. Did you know you can charge up AA alkaline batteries? Just don't overcharge them, monitor its voltage state every 15 minutes and try not to go over 1.8 volts. (btw they do tend to leak after a while)

    True it is lively, and this Friday announcement by the HP CEO, Meg Whitman will most likely show how HP will work on WebOS in the future. HP employeees will get first shot at purchasing a Touchpad, there were rumors of a 7in Touchpad selling on Ebay and sales will be limited to 2 per eBay paypal person account.

    I love to read. I can put HTML into text and save it into my computer to edit into whatever I chose to do. It is fun to recall information using a search function and not be limited to just one text. Blogging gives the average person the ability to give their version of stories and facts. Slash dot is a perfect example of how nerds shape their own perceptions. It may not be to Murdoch's liking but you must admit, he is a powerful person of the media.

    Yes I use a razor like scooter to make the distance between bus stops shorter. And a scooter makes a great defense against dogs too.,,, I love the ones with mini shocks in the front. However if the roads and sidewalks are not smooth you need a kick scooter with air filled tires.

I believe Thomas Edison said that it takes more perspiration than inspiration to get an invention.OK, America will provide the incentives and the Chinese will take the initiative and succeed in producing more and more useful "junk". Even if Americans and Europeans invent stuff, China will manufacture it and make a profit off of it. Spread the wealth around until slowly but surely China will own the world...

    Love the Pre, but seriously when provided by Sprint you have to hack it in order to enable tethering. Also you have to hack it if you unsubscribe in order to use the wifi. Will the hacking of Pre become greater than the hacking of IPhone? For Linux users Pre is more of a slam dunk....

    We will see the price of Pro Duo MS continue to drop but strangely the price of a regular old Memory stick for 128 is still over $20 because they no longer make them and some orphaned devices can only use up to that size (old Sony Clie) Someone posted the prices for Pro duo. That is useless for the PSP Go because it only uses Micro Memory stick Pro duo. I don't believe there is an adaptor for Micro SDHC to Micro Memorystick pro duo.

    I have installed cameras and we purposefully stationed one camera near the cash register. Yes the cashier that was stealing from the company was caught and was given a choice to quit or charges would be pressed. However for survellance of the unsuspecting public? No camera is allowed in the bathroom where their privacy would be invaded. I would hope any idiot who thinks otherwise is caught. Cameras in a hot drug area? It worked at MacArthur Park in Los Angeles. There are no crack smokers there since 2002 after they installed survellance cameras.
