The bail outs have a very specific purpose that ideally will be held to.
I think they should be handled better than they are but the theory behind them makes sense.
Let's assume all 3 major autos go out of business.
With out the manufacturer to perform warranty repairs and someone to be held accountable for defects that are life threatening people will not buy those cars.
This causes layoffs and closings of the dealerships, potentially 10's of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people.
On top of the dealerships going under you'll have the parts suppliers losing both of their major clients, the auto makers and the dealerships that do repairs for those makers, this causes them to lay off people and close down, another potential hundreds of thousands of people for just the warehouse/store work. Without the store fronts and warehouses selling merchandise the manufacturing aspect of these companies will also be shut down, another potential 10's of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people laid off.
At this point you get the picture of how it could spiral downward from 3 companies going out of business.
They are major companies that are the backbone of a gigantic section of the US economy.
They need to fix their business model, last I heard they are losing several thousand dollars on each car sold and expecting to stay in business which is why they need another bailout, that and people not wanting to buy gas guzzling monsters when gas is $4/gallon.
Yeah but until they update there's a lot of customers using sprint as their ISP that can't get to some important cogent sites.
At work today I had several customers call in because they couldn't get to websites.
One person used their wireless card to do online classes for school but their school was using cogent for their ISP, guess what they haven't been able to access since friday.
A tablet would be better for that but I don't think there's any tablets that cheap at this point.
I do have a couple of really old prototype tablets with the serial number written in sharpie on masking tape though, and they're neat to play with.
Hardly, osx costs 1/5 of what windows costs for the versions that don't suck.
You get 10.5 up to the last point increment until it goes to 10.6 Then you pay. That's a couple years of updates before you spend the money.
Most windows versions are updated for what 7 years at the most? So you end up paying the same amount for the same amount of support in the end, the only difference is with OSX the cost is spread out instead of all at once.
I prefer the update, everything looks clear on my page than it did before, the over all feel of the site is good and the improvements to the gmail section are also welcome.
When I took my computer forensics class they showed that you could use a hex editor on a zero wiped floppy disk and recover most of the data that was on it previously.
We had a guest speaker that told us some of what he does, he's a forensic analyst that pulls information from drives in criminal cases. He said that it takes somewhere around 72 hours to read a decent sized drive and costs around $10k to get it done.(It's been a few years so the details are fuzzy but that sounds about right)
But he wasn't too specific on what tools they use etc. Something around 10 full wipes is easy enough to recover the original data but if you write over it and delete actual data it becomes more corrupted and harder to get back than just all 1 then all 0.
No because walmart products really are second rate, they sell lawnmowers like they are a disposable product, after one summer of use the thing is nearly dead and it costs more to fix it than it does to toss it and buy another from walmart.
Same concept with a lot of low end basic printers now, the ink is more expensive to refill than buying a new one.
If you are maintaining 200+ domains then you should be making enough profit over the course of the year that it's registered to negate the extra price.
If all of them are personal domains then I'd just have to say what the hell? Why would you need 200 personal domains?
That'd make for one hell of a hold message.
"
We appreciate your business, but not enough to answer your call in the order it was received, instead we're going to dick around until one of the snails in our cage manages to make a circuit between notification areas.
We hope you rot in hell for being stupid and have a wonderful day."
That's simple, don't use their cable box. A TV tuner with the capability of pulling HD channels costs less in most cases and with it you are in control of the software running it.
Which is exactly what dreamchaser was talking about, that and you could always just put a video camera on a tripod infront of your TV.
My guess would be how long it will be until he's back up and running.
Or possibly how long he expects it to take for another lawsuit to hit him over the same thing.
"One-click site info: Click the site favicon in the location bar to see who owns the site and to check if your connection is protected from eavesdropping. Identity verification is prominently displayed and easier to understand. When a site uses Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates, the site favicon button will turn green and show the name of the company you're connected to."
And when you do that for the Mozilla page, "this website does not supply identification information", which proves that this feature is a complete waste of programming time. If the website doesn't supply the information then there's nothing to verify to make yourself more secure.
I believe it's called licensing. Common mistake though, the way you inform someone of your intent to license something to them can be the same as the way you tell them you're extorting them.
I see it as he would be leasing them the @donotreply.com email address of their choice and if not then he'll get them in trouble.
Because as everyone knows, no two people could ever possibly have the same idea independently....
I think it would be valued at whatever damages you want to claim when you sue someone over it. That'll keep the number of ridiculous damage claims down.
I guess you don't have any family in the San Diego area that you can't find or get in touch with then? Or ever had family in a natural disaster like this?
I had family that we couldn't contact for over a week after Katrina hit, and I have grand parents that have been evacuated twice in SD and we don't know where they are. People being able to use a WiFi connection and get messages to worried family is one of the most important things in a situation like this.

I disagree. 800,000 penis monsters are not cute, we all know that's the first thing nearly everyone that bought and pirated the game made.

With sprint I have two $30.00 plans and $7 per line for insurance, so $74 plus taxes and fees for me is usually like $84-$85.
You'll be in the same boat soon. Remember You've always been at war with eurasia and due to unexpected attacks the chocolate ration has been lowered.

I for one appreciate your satire...too bad the mod that made you a troll only heard a whoosh sound.

Only downloading at 300KB/s? My average speed on torrents when downloading TV shows I miss is 1.4MB/s(Megabytes since you want to point it out).

For the amount of money he's probably getting from the RIAA I expect nothing less than the most magical bullshit to ever spew from someones mouth.
That or the RIAA is really getting what it pays for and they pay him in sodomy tokens.
You only need the remote, not the whole wii.
I guess I missed the part in the article that said 99.9%....
You don't need the in suits part, I don't think I've met one that didn't wear a suit and carry a bottle of lube in his pocket.

Now that there is? Someone seems to have forgotten BF 2142, they have the exact same thing.
