    Actually, I imagine breaking the fields apart and adding some mumbo-jumbo to the end of decoding at 60FPS is not unreasonable.

    I'm fricking poor, $150 could be reasonable.

    Sell $300 models with different colored cases and other useless cheap stuff for the rich people to get suckered by. Don't rip me off or lock me out because I happen to be standing on different soil.

    Yeah, you're screwed any way you slice it if there are a non-even number of people on Earth at the time. Which means unless you start chopping people in half you're not going to get a true 50/50 the majority of the time unless you do have a perfect averaging mechanism for the task (I lean towards using the median).

    Lots of complex ideas were concieved back when. However they couldn't easily produce a quad 2GHz CPU system with 8 gigs of RAM and a 4 terabyte RAID array back then.

    Modern programming techniques seem to trade CPU-use/data-size efficiency for ease of programming. Which is OK by todays standards, but a few decades back most of them were totally unreasonable. What we have now I don't think is so much a matter of complexity, but of layering.

    Our brains haven't evolved that much in one generation to support that much of a superiority complex.

    You may want to scan for duplicates then. GQview is kinda awesome that way if you're a Linuxer.

    Further you can get a few percent savings with a lossless JPEG optimizer.

    Now given all that, wouldn't it be cool if the seriously figured out that theres alot of money waiting for reasonably priced media. All they have to do is go hunting for that sweet spot on the profitablity curve, gouging prices turn people off.

    I was horrified when I saw some kid who was taught about computers say there were 1000 bytes in a kilobyte.

    Finding qualified teachers and maybe even stabilizing basic terminology would be the first step here...

    wrist- or ankle-mounted generators are more elegant

    You may appreciate the sleek appearance of big lumps cluttering up key joints and generating minimal amounts of power.

    I'd opt for the out-of-the-way backpack with enough mass-against-inertia to power stuff. Betetr exercise too.
