Well... I don't think this is KDE's fault. It's the fault of your particular Linux distro. KDE is very modular so you can go to their site install say three or four modules (kdebase, kdelibs etc) and be done with it. So, for example when i am installing it via SuSe (my O.S of choice) the 'minimal KDE system' includes many unnecessary modules. I'd blame suse for this.
Not really, if an id (for example a user id) is passed via a url directly into a stored procedure then it still allows someone to input random user ids till a decent one (one with enough privileges) is hit. There is no quick fix or substitute for well written code.
.. fudge would you take the risk of putting the source online. If one had surely you'd break it down into modules. i.e never have the complete code on one server??
This is just bad. This is patent abuse at its worst. The really bad thing is, is that this sort of thing seems to be the norm now in the states. Crazy.
The kids are 4-12 years old. So I doubt *any* decent gui OS could be " completely foreign " to them.
Teaching kids 'I.T' on windows machines is like teaching kids cooking by introducing them to ready meals. Learning using computers on a UNIX based platform will equip the kids with much more knowledge than teaching them on Windows based ones.
I think i speak for most people when i say, I don't want Microsoft,coke,Pepsi...etc sponsoring our schools via the back door.
What this guy is doing is good. I think the tone of your post was unnecessarily harsh.
"Kontiki also collects and sends back to Sky a lot of information about your PC. There is no mention as to how this data is protected from unauthorized access, however, initial examination with Ethereal seems to show that all data is at least encrypted during transmission."..its nice to know my information is being stolen from me safely.
Well eventually, especially for you guys in the USA, it will be illegal to watch a program then leave the room / change the channel (circumvent) during the adverts. I mean, not watching the adverts of the program you just watched? That is stealing!
I'd prefer old age myself...meh
