I'd like to see definite proof in the form of a signup page rather than slashdot's repost of an extremetech repost of Forbe's repost of Engadget's speculation. Can anyone provide that?
Thanks. The OP shouldn't assume everyone knows what this means - I don't play on any consoles so I didn't know. Wasn't trolling, just saying that with a bit of humor, obviously lost on the mod. Once again, thanks.
...fixing the HORRENDOUS bluetooth voice dialing. Honestly, it's amazing to me that since moving to Android I haven't been able to place a single voice dial call, yet I barely have to make a correction when using voice recognition to enter text. There's a few thousand 'me toos' on the official bug list at the Android dev forums regarding this so I don't think it's just me. It mars an otherwise wonderful experience moving from WM6.5 - but I rarely got a bum voice dial on my old Omnia using the same headset, even in noisy environments.
With current laws, this isn't just a convenience issue; it's a compliance issue. With an average 1.5 - 1.75 hour commute each way, this has become a dangerous annoyance for me and many others.
If any droid gurus out there know something I don't, please let me in on the secret. I've looked everywhere and the best advice I found is that it is marginally better with a BlueAnt Q1 or Q2. I'd even go that route if I knew for sure it would help.
Here's an even BETTER better solution.
How about people start acting like thinking beings and use their heads before posting instead of expecting the government or some technology nanny state to clean up after them.
...Or posts on a site that promotes open source and LAMP stacks and images Bill Gates as a Borg. What I find interesting is how no one questions the monthly posts here about IE losing market share from a site (Net Applications) that only polls their own clients, but no one ever points that out.
I heartily agree. Gee, let's make the Dallas Cowboys sell Philadelphia Eagles jerseys in their fan shop. C'mon Cowboys, not selling the competitors wares just smacks of desperation.
Yes, I am talking about a group - no I am not so egotistical to think that I am speaking for the entire population of technical people all over the world. I'll spell that out; if it wasn't clear to you, I hope this recitfies that.
A number of posts in this thread agreed in some way with what I said. Those would be the 'we' I am referring to. Since there were posts on the other side of the coin, you have your 'we' as well.
I also understand that some people come here purely for entertainment purposes; I do sometimes myself, but when I do I do so with an obvious punchline or humorous reference. If I missed yours, I'm sorry.
Well, I'd definitely have to concede that it may well be generational, and I'd also have to say that in that aspect, the comparison I made doesn't hold up. Certainly, your daughter and her friends wouldn't be likely to be using the the n-word with the same intent. (BTW, thanks for your clarification - though I'd didn't take it that way, it's nice of you to make sure. And while we're on the love fest thing, that is an awesome sig!)
Evolving would be preferable. Evolving would be not using derisive terms to refer to oneself. He if you want to be referred to as a nerd or a geek - go right ahead, by all means.
A person of your advanced age and wisdom would have understood that you did that in SPITE of the usage, not because of it. You learned that you were good with who you were. I have too, to a certain point, but I still find the terms geek and nerd offensive and think that we should know better than to use them ourselves. It hasn't worked with other derisive terms, why should these be any different.
Yes I do think that they are "comparable" in the truest sense of the word. Both are terms that were used to slur and deride and were cause for personal pain. Both are words that were re-appropriated by those so labeled with the same excuses of 'taking it back'. And both are terms that are slowly be phased out by those same groups as they realize that 'taking them back' wasn't worth the degrading themselves in the process.
I can understand your finding it unfathomable, because you may not have experienced the same emotions associated with them, or may not have had to endure endless taunting. Just like as a Caucasian, I can never fully understand how it may feel to be called the N-word. But it doesn't repulse me any less to hear it. If understanding that makes me an over-sensitive prat, so be it - especially since it's only "to you".

.. is that 23000 people were actually willing to download this for free. You'd have to pay ME to watch that piece of dreck.
and only found out why on Saturday.
no complaints when she starts getting poked...

...to those of us that have real lives, friends and girlfriends? Sorry, I've been outside.
Maybe it's an occasional table.
Microsoft has a phone now?
Since I read this moments earlier on Engadget, like many of the things I see here later...

Best counterpoint so far; you raise a good angle.
Here's an even BETTER better solution. How about people start acting like thinking beings and use their heads before posting instead of expecting the government or some technology nanny state to clean up after them.
But since it's in Wikipedia, how do you know it's accurate?

Quick - someone call Max Factor!!
Simlarly bad analogy. They ae not preventing you from installing it, they are simply not selling it from their store.

Must be an incredibly slow news day...

Wow, living up to your nym, aren't you?
Just in caese your short term memory is affected, try reading the title of the post. Which part of that says it offends everyone?
Since your argument seems to be limited to ad hominem attacks, I think I'll move on to a more reasoned discussion.

And I apologize if I wasn't clearer. As a fan of Penn and Teller; who have done quite a bit to prmote classic sideshow acts, I didn't mean to offend.

Nowhere did I insult or demean sideshow performers. Like any performer, it takes training and skills.
