Yeah our company downgraded our coffee vendor and now it's not even worth going to the coffee room. Looks like a lot more Keurig sales and 'illegal' coffee machines in cubicles if you ask me...

  3. Broke when it worked before... on Some Early Adopters Stung By Ubuntu's Karmic Koala · · Score: 1

I installed Karmic on my Dell Mini 9 and was not able to get to my wireless network. After a few hours of searching on the various forums I was able to find a solution which had me reinstalling my Broadcom drivers from a different repository. Of course this all worked in the prior release (v9.04), so I was a little surprised that basic networking was broken in the new one.

  4. Where do you get the IMG file for 9.10 UNR? on Ubuntu 9.10 Officially Released · · Score: 1

Most netbooks don't have optical drives, so the ISO is pretty much useless. v9.04 provided an IMG file that could be used to created a bootable USB flash, but I don't see that for v9.10. Anyone know where the UNR IMG file is for this release?

  5. You go IBM!!! on IBM's Answer To Windows 7 Is Ubuntu Linux · · Score: 4, Insightful

Ubuntu would be great solution for the enterprise. Basic email and office apps, what more do you need? The only problem with Ubuntu is that it needs more testing and validation before each release cycle. I've had basic functionality break between releases and this will not be acceptable for business use.

I don't see this as a big seller. The advantage of the tablet format is that it's compact. I'd opt for a bigger, more dense (DPI) and better contrast screen over a two page device. I guess it would be kinda useful in being able to browse for stuff (scanning two pages at once), but other than that it doesn't seem to out-weigh the fact that you have to have this thing opened like a book.

They need to work with the auto manufacturers to make the GPS an integral part of the car like AC or the car stereo. Turn-by-turn directions are most useful while driving (when else to you really use it.) Why have to rebuy a GPS app everytime you switch your phone provider or phone?

So what do you call it when TW imposes caps which make say Netflix/Hulu/Youtube content more expensive to watch than TW provided content? Yes they don't explicitly single out those services, but by imposing expensive caps the end result is the same. So then people flock to the cheaper services like TW video-on-demand (which magically aren't encumbered by said bandwidth caps because it's a separate paid TW service --- which just happens to be cheaper when you compare it against busting through your download tier.)
