I dont understand why the "ugly ass beige box" argument is still around. Is the nicest thing you can say about your computer is that it looks cool? Not that its fast, or usefull, or easy to use, or can play the latest game? Is your computer a very expensive (but cool looking!) paperweight?
If looking cool is the best you can do, the Mac fanboys dont need your help.
I dont know, i dont have a tivo. I always assumed that since the option worked on other channels it was a problem with the way Sci-Fi tags the shows. Maybe the tivo guide database has more information somehow.
That may not be completely their problem. SciFi is notorious for not tagging their shows properly. My comcast box and my Media center both cannot filter out rerun vs first run on SciFi, and they both have the option.

People keep saying the tablet idea is a failure and I dont get it. Sure back when it was an expensive uber feature, it didnt do very well. But now almost every company offers a convertible tablet. Its cheap enough that it doesnt really add to the cost. I cant see not wantign the option, even if you dont need it every day. I can see a time when the convertible tablet sceen will be a common if not ubiquitous feature.
Or do you mean the pure tablet models with no drives? Cause those are a lost cause, except in very specific applications
They'd do better if they'd change their price point.
A whole season of a show from itunes is on par with DVD box sets. Except theres no packaging, much less sales overhead, no physical media, low video quality and obtrusive DRM.
Movies are priced similarly - on par with a DVD.
Wheres the advantage? If I like it enough to pay for it I'll spring for the dvd. Its a better deal.
There's respect for copyrights and then theres a government funded bilge pump for a sinking ship. Its not the governments place to protect antiquated and failing business practices.
The music industry has been bending people over for the last 100 years. Now, as times have changed they want to artificially keep their stranglehold on the industry. Even if that means making basic rights like fair use a thing of the past.
Its time they quit picking on grandma's and college kids and put that engergy into successfully promoting and selling music in the 21st century.
Things will never be like they were. But theres still a fortune to be made.
Damn right. I know Radio Shack isnt what it used to be but damn, was I surprised the other day. I needed a Y power adapter for my media center. They didnt have them. Thats a pretty damn basic part. My grocery store practically carries those.
Im used to playing FPS with a controller; Cut my teeth on Goldeneye in college. I recently started playing computer FPSs because I finally found a controller for my left hand that let me move better than a crippled 3 legged half wit.
Sure its easier to aim with a mouse. So easy there's very little aiming skill involved. It doest feel like aiming a weapon, it feels like a souped up version of those old "click on the fast moving objects for points" twitch games. That doesnt make them bad though.
I dont know why people insist on comparing console and PC FPSs - its apples and oranges. Both can provide a satisfying experience.
Some times I watch my collectors edition cutscene dvd just for fun. And its still looks pretty good even by todays standards. I just wish it had the Lord of Destruction cut scenes too.
I actually have both - a comcast dvr and a Windows Media center. The only reason I have the comcast box is for HD - I havent upgraded the MC for that yet.
But thats exacly why I keep it - versatility and upgradability. If i need more space I can add another hard drive. I can add another tuner. I can play mp3s on it. I can do casual web surfing on my couch.
Try doing any of that on the cable co provided box.
The problem is the tensioner. Many cassete players will not play if theres no resistance on the spindles. Most modern cd adapters have some sort gear system (often with a belt or a rubber band) to add tension between the spindles.
Its been my experience that when that happens, something has happened to the gears between spindles. The tension is no longer there (or correct) and it messes with the players auto flip feature.
It doesnt really matter. No matter how you shake it itunes is a terrible video player. I dont like Quicktime either, but it worked better than the iTunes front end.
I was forced to use iTunes for a video podcast recenty. It was a PITA to setup full screen without missing the 1st 30 seconds of the show.
Apple typically gets a lot of points for usability but parts of iTunes are a mess.
Would you prefer there be no HD format support at all? Not even playing the disk in the first place also constitutes a hindrance to the HD-DVD and Blu-ray consumer.
Had they left out HD media support, everyone would be flogging them for "not being up to date with multimedia needs" and "not future proofing the OS"

That'd be the Tyler Durden Synergy Drive, no?
Sony has little to nothing to do with any of this. Neither GH nor Rock Band is made by Sony.
Lets see how GHIII is before we pass judgement. I have high hopes for Rock Band too, but Ea isnt exactly a bastion of quality you know.
Oh I can. Right after he force crushes your neck.
You know alcohol's none too good for the ole diabetes either.

Wow heaven forbid! An on topic post citing a personal example relevant to the discussion. How dare he? What is the world coming to?
I find it all the more asinine that you both bothered to respond with little insight but plenty of venom.
Which is the bigger waste of bandwidth? The "boring" post or the assholes complaining about the boring post?

You feel better now that you brought your dick into the discussion?
My whole point was that the two control schemes are different. You say mouse & KB has better aim? I saw it has lousy movement controls.
To each his own. Each control scheme is so different its silly to compare them like they are equivalent. What ever floats your boat.
"I suxxors at FPS with thumbsticks"
I corrected that for you.

In the new utopia, there will be no apostrophe.

"That's true. On a TV like this I bet you couldn't even make out my obscene tattoo."
Damn, someone beat me to the "Change the gravitational constant of the universe" joke.
My mistake, I always forget about the Animated series. Ive never seen it. Been meaning to get the dvds.
Yeah Watson and Crick only discovered DNA. Not like they *did* anything with it. Pfft.
